  1. Re:The real question on Google Makes Its Search System Slightly More Transparent · · Score: 1

I sometimes miss the days when I could use Google to find all kinds of neat stuff, user generated silliness. I sometimes miss the Google of 1999. I do like the fact that it knows all about WoW search terms, and puts them at the top.....one thing I complained about a lack of back when The Sims was the game of the moment. Of course, back in 1999, I complained about the lack of finding places to shop. Of course, sometimes, it's not a lot better...take the search terms "diet mt dew delivery". I get the 'rankup' promotion of the moment, and for whatever reason Mazzio's 50th. The first result is BeverageUniverse, and Drsoda. The 3rd result is the Wikipeida entry...and from what I can tell, there isn't anything on the Wiki page that tells me exactly where I can purchase Diet Dew...so why is it even in the result? Oh I see, cause I chose 'Everything'. So I click Shopping. I am met with Info.com and yahoo.com ad at the top. Everything else is Die Cast vehicles. I just want to know how I can purchase cases of Diet Mountain Dew and have them delivered to my door. No, I don't want to go thru Amazon, have you SEEN those prices per case? $19.99 a case-$31.58 a case. Even 3 cases for $36.00 is too freaking expensive.

Inside the server room, we can't even hear tornado sirens when they go off, so I wouldn't know anyway if the 'test' was successful or not here in Northwest Arkansas. If the existing tests on the existing broadcast systems are this broken, there is no way that alerts to 'new media' is gonna be in place.

We have several applications that only have Windows versions. I was working on a DesignJet 4000 printer in the Eng office yesterday. Even on my jailbroken iPhone, the pdf file was hard to read, and didn't allow me to make notes in the pdf file, so I ended up printing a copy of the service tech pdf so I could make notes about which step in the instructions that the printer failed/gave errors. Tablets still have a ways to go, in order to meet every business need. Having a decently priced, non-neutered version of Windows is one step.

If this is true, and this is the way the world is leaning, what we may be witnessing with these children that we deem as 'retarded/autistic' is nature in the process of evolving to compensate for the environment change. Spend some time with a highly functioning autistic person. You will see moments of sheer genius. There is also one other thing I have seen come out of these kind of children, less emotion. That may or may not be a good thing. At least, if anything, it would be the death of reality tv!

She plays on the computer a lot, and is a wiz at movie trivia.

I never imagined, back when I first was given the diagnosis, that I would ever be able to see her doing those things.

About an hour later, we saw cops and ambulances in his yard. Yes, indeed, he had hung himself in the yard among his other Halloween decorations.

Stop watching the regurgitated garbage they keep shoving down our throats, over charging us, demanding we fit THEIR time windows of when you are allowed to watch something. We are the customer here.
