  1. Re:Get a Samsung HD841 DVD Player on HD DVD to Screw Early HDTV Adopters · · Score: 1

Not quite so. Of course buying a Samsung HD841 won't help in this case, but it may be fair to assume that a real HD-DVD player in the future will have the same kind of hack to allow full rez even through component. Cheers

  2. HDCP hack also works with HD-850! on Film Studios Sue Samsung Over DVD players · · Score: 1

I have a Samsung HD-850 and I just tried to make it region free and to remove HDCP protection.

Region hack doesn't work, but the the HDCP one does! And the HD-850 is still for sale pretty much everywhere (bought it last week) :)

  3. Re:Better translation? on Origen 360 Revealed in Less Than 12 Hours · · Score: 1

you have to assume factus in the second clause; quo and loco are paired despite not being contiguous; and although Originis and angelis look like they should go together, they don't - they just happen to be the same case and number. Floruit is perfect active indicative 3rd singular - not a present subjunctive as IGN believes - ludent is present active indicative 3rd plural (IGN left this word out entirely!), and circumdati is a perfect passive participle in nominative plural. It agrees with electi.

Actually, Judge Gomery was asked to put a ban on this by Breault's lawyers, because its publication could have an deleterious effect on Breault's trial to be held next September. Gomery probably approved the ban to respect Breault's right of a fair and equitable trial, a fundamental right of the Canadian constitution. It would be hard for Breault to be fairly judged fairly bu a jury if the whole country is being told by the media how corrupted he was. Also, before imploring freedom of speech, know that ALL of Breault's testimony will be made public right after his trial, no matter what. Freedom of information, but a couple of months later.

No confusion here. From the article:

POP, or Post Office Protocol, lets you download messages from Gmail's servers onto your computer so you can access your mail with a program like Microsoft Outlook Express or Netscape Mail, even when you aren't connected to the Internet.

Well, there would be many poblems with that solution. First is the smell... Imagine if every house in the neighborhood has such a facility... Second, it's the storage of oil. You're not allowed to have an oil tank buried underground anywhere. Again, if everyone has such a tank, it's an environmental disaster waiting to happen. The town co-op is a great idea though.

  11. Cell phone companies might prevent this on Cell Phone Ringtones Give Music Industry Another Headache · · Score: 2, Interesting

I worked for a cell phone company and they had a way to make sure you could not upload midi or wav files to your phone by hiding the file extension (not the MIME type) the phone will accept. Thus, to upload a midi file, you had to name the file something other than .mid for the phone to accept it. Of course, all is needed is a leak and everyone can do it...
