"Creativity" of software development is way overstated. It is not creative work in most cases.
Making yet another CRUD GUI is not exactly creative. Neither is any kind of usuall application you would be creating in business setting. Those mazes come presolved and you just trace line on paper.
In other cases, if you do not learn about problem being solved enough to be able to give good estimate - why are you professional? You should have business design document and technical design document and almost all gotchas covered already. What should remain is implementation itself and that is not much of creative work either - even if you have to wrestle with programing language to implement some concepts.
Lets imagine there was actually huge amount of them - 90% of passengers. Just to make very obvious to see.
That means that company has 90% less revenue to operate with and operate costs.
They could cancel enough lines to stay in positive numbers. Now the cost for everyone is that service is way worse.
They could raise up fare. Paying 10 times the fare is quire a cost raise for paying people.
Or they could lobby local government for tax subsidies. That would come in greater taxes or tax money missing elsewhere. Raised costs for everyone, even people not using public transport.
Of course, company could just shut down. Id say that is quite a cost.
Once fixed cost line has enough passengers to cover its costs, it does not mean that it has to be pure profit.
Usually, public transport company mandate is to provide transport first. Any extra gains would to to establishing new lines (to provide better connections, new connections or to just shift loads) or increasing amount of vehicles on line for less overcrowding.
Each freeloader may add little cost to operating line he is riding on, but fare he pays could also go to improving service for others.
This is why public transport can be pricey - you pay for late night buses, buses to less populated neighborhoods, more buses during rush hour...
First, Plack time and Plack length are not minimum units. There are thing smallers/shorter than that. They are in no way special limits. We have so far not discovered lowest instant.
Things in low scales are not random because of inacurracies, but because they start to be more like fields - fields that actually have "peak" location. If somehowe it was caused by underflows, we would see very clear patterns and aliases.
In any case, it is very trivial to simulate sub-frame things in our computer simulations.
Seccond, you can not measure speed and position at same time not because of some weird universe limit, but because you effect particles by measuring them - usually in unforeseen ways. There is no hint of optimalization.
Third, collapses do not work like that. From point of view of universe, everything is observed eventually and anyway. And actually computing whether something will be observed sounds like too much work to be considered a optimalization.
Simply put, pop sience descriptions of our understanding of universe are doing you disservice.
There are also too many programers who think that they will do better job at writing several utility methods even thou existing library has all corner cases covered and provides standartized way of solving problem that other developers will understand.
Lazy developers creating dependency hell is another issue. But hell of all-custom implementation of well standartized libraries cointains even more pitchforks.
Especially when it starts as five lines of code and ends up as reimplementation of half of library in shittier and less dependable code.
Are you sure that 5 lines you yourself will write are really going to be correct?
Libraries have one advantage - they are usually very well tested for what they do by usage in lots of projects and handle corner cases that you might not know even exist.
This is about someone who just could not put down recoding device in enviroment in which it is big issue. And tries to use novelty of said device to his advantage.
Police, etc... they are used to being recorded on cellphones or dash cams or security cameras or by eyewitnesses. This is nothing new for them. They do dislike it - but everyone does.
There is another side of coin: The more footage of every person there is, the more opportunities you have to find something incriminating or blackmail worthy. I am not afraid of cops getting free pass on some assaults.
I am afraid of future where anyones life is easily pieced together from footage gathered from hundreds/thousands walking cameras, analyzed for weaknesses and exploited. Anytime you run afoul of little pointless law, anytime you do something that can easily be taken out of context to villify you, any secret you might want to keep secret.
That is future "glassholes" are working to bring and it is freaking nightmare.
I am not afraid of cop dropping "resisted" or "was unccoperative" on me, I am afraid of some nice man visiting me with dosier on my life and explaining dozen different ways they can easily ruin various parts of it if I will not cooperate or if I will resist.
People bearing the cost will be dead victims. Good luck with that.
How much time has passed since marathon bombings, pray tell? I kinda wish you were in charge, recieved warning and ignored it as you suggest is such good idea.
When you are in charge, rational thing to do is to take threat seriously amd act on it.
Why? Because if you are wrong about it being hoax, you are the one who has been responsible for preventing any and all deaths or injuries related to bomb going off.
Your life would be instantly ruined - you failed to do your job and people died. Media and Internet would make sure everyone knows for year (up untill your deaths).
Best thing to do is to do your job properly and when someone tries to abuse that, kick the fucker in the nuts enough so that it is not worth it for him.
Eventually, projects get complex and you do need ide not to tame language but to keep being productive without having to cross check documentation of different modules. But have fun managing to write ~150 entities relating project in plain text.
Verbosity:
1-line-in-20 is usually just lack of knowledge of how to do something right in one language paired abuse of highly specialized construct in another.
I have seen people complain how terrible i.e. (regxex, xml, etc.) is in java, but their problem was solved by single utility method call instead of about 15 lines of usage of raw engine.
Eventually you will need to start using raw engive anyway when you need advanced features - and then oneliners end everywhere.
Also, in my experience those line savers are inconsequential - "Hip" oneliners generally solve non-problems, they only make it look "Clever".
And "Clever" or "Hip" code is major pain to support once hype dries up.
You can not say you lack third arm, because you would not have third arm.
Telling people they "lack faith" implies you think less of them for not being religious. Not a way to win hearts and minds, but good way to get people adversarial (as your exchange nicely illustrates).
If people come to conclusion that "there is no god" is rational answer with no contrary evidence, you can not disreard it as a belief and be done with it.
Simply put, using word "lack of faith" makes you insulting asshat.
Both Fed-Ex and UPS failed to call on cellphone or write email or basically have any attempt at contacting sendee at all.
Case 1:
FedEx, street address. There are no nameplates on house to show who lives in flats, because there is supposed to be some amount of privacy. Fed Ex Employee sees he can not get into house nor can he ring bell and enters "undeliverable address" a continues on.
Sendee had to call them up.
Package is returned to business even if support on phone claimed it will he held on for picking it up on in person for whole month. Turns out FedEx office is 45 minutes drive away, upon arrival dead adresee was infromed that package was returned to sender with invalid address after day.
Fuck fedex. How much is a phone call?
Case 2:
UPS Failed to transcribe address properly to computer system. And misspells phone number too. They are quite happy with undeliverable address even if it contains way too obvious typo. No phonecall, not even email. Customer is obviously supposed to babysit tracker.
They attempt to return it in one week, no one with single braincell noticing anything. It took very angry phonecall to get it back. Then I learn that they only do deliveries between 9:00 and 17:00 and only in working days and cant guarantee time of arrival. How fuckign useless is that? Am I supposed to take day off to get package?
Of course, they have their facility also 45 minutes drive from city.
Fuck UPS.
Next time I ecnounter eshop that will not use standard mail, i will mail them and go do my shopping elsewhere.

National mail system?
Never-ever had a issue. I can pick package up pretty much anytime, 5 minutes walk away from me.
UPS and FedEx? Here, they have reputation of intentionally "loosing" packages or "delivering" them. I have defninitelly learned my lessing.
A) Toying with some IT stuff where worst that can happen is loosing couple of hours of work and where you have all the time in the world to google you answer or retake certs (like they matter).
to
B) Being in potentially fatal situation where windows of opportunity to handle that situation at all are secconds and less and where safety net for figuring that out is about size and durability of paper tissue.
My natural, experience driven intellect tells me that patronizing you is correct course of action.
"I have nothing to hide" needs to die. And goverment actions are exactly the reason:
Did judes have anything to hide from goverment before Nazis came to power?
Nope. Yet they suffered greatly because of goverment knowledge of their ethnicity.
Was being communist or friend of one crime in US before red scare?
Nope. But then red scare came and whowledge of who is fiend with who destroyed careers and lives.
Was Alan Turing doing anything wrong?
Nope. But he was still brutalized and died as a result after nature of his sexuality was revealed.
Was ownership of land of factories crime?
Nope. But then commies came to power on many countries and people were shited to prisons, prison colonies or executed outright.
In history, many people thought that their religion, political orientiation, sexual orientation, friendships and relationships, ownerships or opinions.... that none of it would ever be issue because they are not doing anything wrong or illegal or even mean.
And they were wrong. And died because of it.
Laws change. Society changes. Rules change. People in power change. Things can be taken out of context, or put into another.
You might be completelly fine one day, and monster another.
And if list of "monsters" can be gotten as easily as simple database querry, it is best not to be part of it. And to not have any such database.
"prosecution recommended a six-month sentence in a minimal security prison, instead of 35 years suggested by the US law, and the judge could have reduced this term even further."

No, start protecting your privacy.
You do not have to allow then to do it.

And, self promotion (baby steps, but working):

If you play game to "accomplish" something, you might want to reevaluate reasons why you pay to play the game to fake-accomplish stuff.
If you are instant L90 you have ... freedom.
Want to go to sightsee zone X? You can.
Want to try dungeon Y? You can.
Want to do quest Z? Sure, go ahead.
Want to...
There is so much you can do besides watching stupid pointless number to go up. Maybe you can try that sometimes.
- light cone is not a good optimalization: Things out of our light cone can and do affects things inside it.

None of the things you are scared of are true. All the "i would like it to work this way" are correct.
