Um, a release of smallpox would have far more devastating effects than a single nuclear warhead. Biological warfare has the potential to be the weapon of most massive destruction.
"MMORPG PVP always sucks. Always. Twitch shooters make sense for PVP... the better player wins. MMORPG is a contest of who "built" the better character, which mostly means who spent the most time in front of their computer munchkining out instead of roleplaying or, heaven forbid, going outside once in a while."
Spoken like someone who didn't experience MMORPG's until EverQuest... (old school) Ultima Online PvP, in my opinion, is unparalleled in its high requirements for skill to win, since a competitive character could be made in 2 or 3 days of macroing. PvP was fantastic until EverQuest came along and introduced the world to the Care Bear garbage we can't seem to get enough of these days.
I haven't beta tested this game, but I did live (for far too long) with a certain individual who used to work for SOE that was hired as the assistand producer for Matrix Online. This man has recently been fired from that post, but I'm quite positive that he has already caused immense damage to the production of that game.
I agree that it looks like it has potential, but having seen the production of 2 MMORPGs from the inside, I can tell you that the potential will never be fulfilled if the project is mismanaged. The company has a deadline which will be met, regardless of the quality of their product. Since my former roommate was certainly not skilled in management, I hold very dim hopes for Matrix Online.
Um, I shouldn't have to highlight text to scroll it up and down. The International Herald Tribune has one of the most God-awful ugly and annoying page formats I've ever encountered, and that includes the Geocities and AOL wastelands.
Michael has supported damiangerous' point, time and time again. He's deleted entire threads that were critical of his idiocy, and he's banned some people from ever being able to moderate. Michael is an idiot of the greatest degree, and to state this is not to troll or to lay flamebait.
Every Slashdot reader would absolutely LOVE to get nailed in bed, for it is but a pipe dream...

I absolutely love the way an honest opinion is equated with flamebait. And, if my post were flamebait, it failed to bait anyone into flaming. I guess there really are people out there who are rabidly attached to crappy games.

So I've played Halo 2.
My friends all love it, but I simply cannot be impressed by it... the offline campaign is okay, but the online gameplay is repetitive, boring, and inflexible. There can be no hope for a mod for Halo 2 that will offer fresh, new gameplay, so there is little hope that new life will be breathed into this already old, tired game.
Playing an FPS on a console is missing the point entirely.
The real problem with the gimp interface is that 90% of everyone who tries it out for the first time gives up on it the first time. It's a convoluted mess of menus and submenus, none of which are properly labeled or intelligently sorted. Yes, you can learn to use the gimp interface. No, it is not intuitive or elegant.
It might be true that there is no interface that fits everybody, but the gimp interface may as well not fit anybody.
Marketing campaigns are required by law to include information about the dangers of taking the drug. I don't think that any amount of butterflies and flowers makes that voice listing the possible side effects seem less insiduous. I don't think that most people take drugs so lightly anymore.
So long as the server emulator scene keeps going, UO will live on. The link above takes you to a server that strives to capture the golden era of UO... the times before their first expansion, and even before they nerfed PKs so that PvP died away.
I highly recommend Rebirth for anybody interested in seeing, for free, what the best MMORPG ever made was like in its heyday. Since the server is free to play on and the client can be downloaded for free (search Google for gigex+uo+trial), there's nothing to worry about.
I think that they are sitting on their laurels when it comes to their search algorithm because it really is good enough. Anybody who knows how to use Google beyond typing a couple words in and pressing enter can find almost anything they need. Granted, you're right about blogs and "dialer" pages as you call them, but those are easy enough to filter out manually while sifting through your search results.
I would like to see their basic search include filters as you suggested, but the fact is that the signal to noise ratio isn't so bad yet that Google feels they must address the issue.
To compare copyright enforcement to the war on drugs is pathetic. When the feds are kicking my door down because someone tipped them off that a criminal infringing on copyrights is living there, I'll consider comparing it to the war on drugs.
Or love is a battlefield.

Do you think there will be a class war in America?
(asking the sociologist)
This wasn't a troll... this was a quite funny and entertaining parody of a spam message many of us have received.

Parent post is hilarious... AND on topic.

"I still liked HL2, but Far Cry is a much better value"
I wonder if you'll be saying that two years down the road, when there are 2 or 3 must-play mods for HL2.
Looks great in Firefox?

Every other time this post has appeared, it's been modded as a troll.
Why the change of heart today, mods? +5, funny? Well, that's cool. It's not really a troll anyway.
Mod parent up. It's good to have counterpoints visible to the masses.
Maybe it has nothing to do with the material costs, and everything to do with the actual production of the case?

I read your post but I couldn't find the insight that other moderators indicated was present...
You have coffee, donuts, and cigarettes in New York?
Well shit, Aunt Bessy! They got some rarities up there! What an exotic city!
When I see your post in the list of comments, it is -1. When I go to reply to it, it is 1. What's up with this?

Pirates merely exploit the same characteristic of "intellectual property" that Media Moguls do: production costs are trivial.
Damn straight. I hope people mod you up and shame on the idiot who modded you troll.

But until then, shut the fuck up.
