    no. their proprietary software is not GPL'd so does not conform to the GPL license. just because it runs a linux kernel does not mean it needs to release the source code to its programs running on it.

    it does however need to make the source to the GPL software on it easily available. an anonymous ftp server will furfill this requirement. shipping the source code with GPL'd works is not necessary. it just needs to be easily available.

    ps. slashbots informed me of this.

    my monitor also cost £52.

    21" monitor by silicon graphics. sony tube ... google for GDM-20E21. :)

    drivers for radeon 9200 below work fine in xfree86. can't say much about x86_64 as i don't have it.

    and yeah i know theres no 3d for ati drivers in x.org at the moment.

    theres a hell of a lot of cheap ati radeon 9200 se around at computer markets. i payed £52 for one about ten months ago.

    1. works great in xfree86. last ati card to do so.
    2. 128MB of DDR 400
    3. AGP 8x
    4. DX and GL support
    5. Plays modern games. I run UT2k4 on near max. GTA:VC manages max settings.
    6. I'm on 1600x1200 CRT at 140Hz :-)

    i'm sure not its reduced to maybe £35. if your a linux user i recomend this card ... unless you use a distro where you want 3d in x.org.

    Framingham, Mass.-based IDC said that overall revenue for servers, desktops, and packaged software running on Linux will reach $35.7 billion in the next four years.

    it wouldn't be such a far-fetched figure if it included sales through websites on linux servers aswell as linux hosting. they could go as far to include bandwidth costs and how isps would gain revenue from linux servers/desktops being connected to the internet. i'm guessing the desktop portion of the money will be small compared to the servers and software/support

    its more of the same. so .... 1) you liked halo: combat evolved and played it through to the end. you'll like halo 2. 2) you liked halo: combat evolved but got bored halfway through due to repitition. you may aswell just play halo: combat evolved to the end. 3) you didn't like halo: combat evoled. halo 2 will be the same. 4) you haven't played halo: combat evolved. buy halo: combat evolved first as you'll be able to get it in a bargin bin. (thats if your thinking of getting halo 2) there really isn't much new at all. can use both hands at once... a few more vehicules.... new storyline... a few new weapons. all in all what you'd expect in a sequel. still has the repitition to it. i found the first two levels stunning then it started to get boring again. AI is great again though :).

    this test isn't too meaningful. look at the 4th page and its just a case of opinion. i prefer the look of the S700i to the S65 but the S65 'won' that round. i guess its an ok test to get a basic idea. like not to buy the V710 if you want to use a 'decent' camera.

    ...is that those who aren't too savvy with computers have fun re-installing windows when they have a raid array. "windows xp says i have no harddrive !!" i don't mind fixing these sorts of 'problems' for friends of friends when all it takes is to put a driver on a floppy and press F6. i also don't mind telling them i had some 'trouble' because of their harddrive setup and being paid for what actually took me like 5 minutes. so there are deffinatly some plus points to RAID-0

    actually the other people in the elevator can. it will have air in there which can vibrate :). (unless everyone wheres air masks) so they can hear you scream and the annoyance from it may cause them to throw you out the door ^.^

    it is. the main reason i use gmail is because of its speed.

    i don't have to download spam mail from my isp which can take a while on a 56k connection of you have >150 spam emails. With google not only does it sort the spam nicely and out the way, it stops me having to download the body of the email.
    Couple that with the other great features of gmail and the fact that i won't fill it and i don't have much reason to use my isp's email address.
    The only time i use my isp's email address is for job and university applications.

    well now i don't even have to think about "intel or amd ?". If Intel want to prevent me overclocking a chip i paid for i will prevent giving them money.

    It's not like anyone blaims Intel when someone kills an Intel processor by over-clocking it. I don't see any reason behind the prevention of over-clocking other than to try and make people have to upgrade more often or maybe because they want to lose marketshare.
