    The Acid test does not test standards, it tests that browsers won't freak out when confronted with bad code. Validate it with the w3c CSS validator if you don't believe me.

    Most Linuxes don't dump core by default, they just output "Segmentation Fault" if a program crashed (distressingly common) or "Kernel Panic" if Linux itself died (very rare).

    I develop with Mono "for pay". I'm working with a guy who wrote an absolutely awsome piece of software in C#. He's good at it, but doesn't know Linux. My job is just to make sure it compiles + runs well on Linux so that there is a non-MS upgrade path available if needed.

    The "media" also recognizes that I type on my modem, save files to my monitor, and reformat my RAM.

    It doesn't matter what "the media" think. It matters what is correct. Cracker is the correct term for those who break into computer systems without authorization from the owners.

    You are allowed to sell the software. You are not allowed to keep the source to yourself. Somebody could re-sell GIMP for $200, and as long as they gave the source code to their customers it would be legal.

    You also have to give the source code to anybody that you've given the binary to, if they ask. However, you are not obligated to give the source to everybody.

    He's not a dumbass because he uses Gentoo. It's pretty obvious that he doesn't know what he's talking about. Straight from TFA:

    Unless one of them produces faulty code, compiling 4.0 with 4.0 compiled with 3.4 will suffice.

    Once in a while the system will go into an idle mode, requiring from five minutes to half an hour to unwind. It's weird, and I almost always have to reboot. When I hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete, I see that the System Idle Process is hogging all the resources and chewing up 95 percent of the processor's cycles.
