There isn't a *Linux* version. They originally planned to ship the game with Linux support. The Linux client will be a free download. Bioware will be able to get a fair idea of the numbers by seeing how often it's downloaded.
which is already set up to run on old hardware, has some really great configuration tools, but really outdated software (2.0.x kernel, libc5, X 3.3.1), such that I shuddered when connecting it to the internet.
Basically you start the install from a DOS partition (I used FreeDOS sucsessfully) using loadlin, a Slackware kernel, & the initrd.img from the isolinux dir - you can turn the DOS partition into a Linux swap (or whatever) partition after you've booted the install.

This is probably somwhat skewed though, as root gets an email from Pat, which, amongst other helpful advice, invites us to register with the Linux Counter.
Lots of people on the Cooker list were calling for Bugzilla, but the developers insisted that the mailing list works just fine. Can anyone tell us if they've come to their senses? If not, the heck with 'em.
Bugzilla was a real PITA for them in a previous beta I was involved with. The mailing list is simply much faster.
All communication between developers and testers was on the Cooker mailing list, and it was sloppy and clumsy at best. Fixes were frequently overlooked and contributors got upset because they thought they were being ignored.
The bug reports I submitted I cc'd to the maintainer of the package, as a basic courtesy, as well as a means of getting their attention.
What struck me about the Atkins diet is how it takes one of the precepts of food combining, eating one food group at a time, or one with another that is easily digested with it. Food combining gets the same sort of "miracle" comments Atkins does. I wonder if he isn't missing something. A more balanced diet would eliminate the problems associated with his.
Sureley food combining has been pointed out to him. Can anyone recall his comments?
The reason why Storm Troopers suck at
everything has finally been explained.
They're New Zealanders
Here's a recent quote from Moby's Journalabout.nz (cut/paste)
today i had a quasi-day off in new zealand.
and what better place to have a quasi-day off than the most beautiful country in the world?
i'm almost afraid to tell people how beautiful new zealand is. cos then everyone will come here and possibly tarnish it's beauty. but new zealand is almost unspeakably beautiful.
today we went to piha beach and karekare beach. karekare beach is where they shot 'the piano'. but thankfully the beach is pure and unsullied by harvey keitels naked butt.
new zealand is like a time-capsule from 200 million years ago. if you've been here and walked around the new zealand rain forest you will understand what i mean. i've been to a lot of amazing places in my life, but new zealand is the most remarkable out of all of them. well, in its category. the american southwest is quite remarkable.
but it's arid. new zealand is wet and fecund in the extreme.
if i sound like a simpleton it's cos i've spent the day at these beautiful beaches and now it's kind of late and i'm very sleepy.
so forgive my simpleton-ness.
someday i hope to come back to new zealand as a simple tourist.
i'm sure that i could give myself a month to roam around new zealand and never get bored. what a beautiful place.
standing on the beach with the wind and sand in my face while looking out over the waves is probably the closest i'll ever come to feeling timeless and immortal.

In the unlikely event of any other moderators reading this, my comment *is* ontopic, & meant to be funny. Sigh. Minsc is a character from another Bioware RPG. I hope Mr offtopic gets LART'ed in metamod.
If Bioware genuinely believe the claims Derek makes above, there would be no harm in rewriting the EULA slightly to clarify the position. Then they'd be raved about on one of the most popular boards on the 'net, instead of having their motives questioned. Good PR beats the lawyers any day, too.
I expect the EULA as it stands is a "kite". Derek or someone else is going to go back to management & say we won't put up with it.
That's what they have done. 2.2.2 in Mandrake 8.2 is much better than 2.2.1 from 8.1. 3.0.rc2 (iirc, might be beta2) is avalable from Mandrake cooker if you want to play with it.
Cooker is in deep freeze at the moment, so if you don't mind doing an ftp install, you can get 8.2 right now. You might have to update a few rpm's later. I'ts probably more than my life's worth to say *where* you can get it on/. though. BTW, KDE in 8.2 is *much* faster than in 8.1.
Nowa days every one has a cd burnner and CDRs are dirt cheap. Besides when was the last time you could find a blank floppy in less then 10 minutes?
1%warren looks at his box - gosh! no cd burner! Picks up blank floppy from pile under his monitor stand - gosh! took ~1 second! Sigh... I'm a decade behind the times.

Excerpt from the index:
Downloaded it - mounted the initrd.img on loopback - had a look - no ppp support AFAICT - no test.

KDE Help Centre-->Browse info pages - uses info2html. Check out "pinfo" too, works like lynx.
Interesting guy.

Yeah, I tried compiling everything with optimizations (LFS, twice). Made no difference to speed at all AFAICT without bencmarking it.

Thex life! You don't have a thex life when you talk like thith! Not with girlth anyway.
If anyone is listening, I want Debian, but with objprelinked kde =].
There is a good chance it will work with wine. They promised to look into it on one of those Q&A things.
The release .iso's of 8.2 *don't* include KDE 3.0 - apparently sombody goofed with the advert. You can get it from cooker though.
