  1. Another miss-direction for obesity. on The Mathematics of Obesity · · Score: 1

Well, here we go again. This is a really good analysis of calories and while true, you must burn what you take in to maintain weight but it is not just calories, it is the type and source of the calories. The article is right about the glut of 'food' but it is the glut of overly processed foods, the extremely high sugar and fat content in these dense sources. It is the lack of fiber that makes people continuously hungry and the high sugar/fat that is addictive; not unlike cocaine. There have been studies and studies that point to the obvious fact that EVERYONE ignores. Plant based (preferably organic) nutrition is the key. Like math? Chart the rise in obesity to the growth of 'prepared/fast' foods, drive through restaurants and other junk packaged foods. If people simply stopped eating this crap they wouldn't gain weight. They would be full/stuffed after most meals due to the high nutrition and fiber content. The body's mechanism to detect 'full' is based on volumetrics not food density. The low fiber and high fat/sugar/protein density overloads the body with excess calories it does not need. Too much protein also contributes as most people on the Standard American Diet eat way too much protein, not enough vegetables, beans, fruit and grains. Of course all the vegetables, grains, beans etc. have LOADS of plant protein without the animal fat and cholesterol. This same chart I suggest also is statistically related to the similar rise in Diabetes 2, heart disease, cancer and a host of other lifestyle diseases. Change the lifestyle diet in the USA and fix the healthcare system overnight! People just don't believe that nutrition is the key to Health & Wellness, not a pill. Even though you might work for someone else and depend on that company for 'benefits', an outlook of Freedom and Fortitude will serve you well. You don't have to cow-tow to anyone. Maintain your self respect, individualism and internal positive self image. Too many accept the view of others that they are less than they truly are. Most people/individuals know more than they believe they do. Pompous bullies in 'management' who succeed on the backs of others shouldn't be allowed to do so. It is individual freedom and attitude that allows one to succeed in the workplace; even under the most dire circumstances. You have to believe you can make changes for the better, strive for excellence and succeed at being an honorable individual; true to yourself and your family. Maybe all Pollyanna-ish, but Life should be an adventure, filled with successes, learning from failures, but otherwise striving to do better for yourself and others.

Me, I've not achieved the monetary success that some have, but some level of independence in body, mind and spirit means more IMHO. Yes major companies, IBM and so many others! The only way to change is for more people to become Free Agents and take care of themselves. It is very difficult, frustration and you often go hungry, but the rewards of Freedom and Self-sufficiency are worth it. If 'W2' employees continue to accept this mistreatment, it will never change. Ages ago, unions were formed to stop this form of abuse, but they themselves became abusers and owned by political machines. No hope there. We must promote more individual self sufficiency. Help folks gain control over their own lives and well being. Stop linking healthcare to jobs. Stop linking retirement to IRA's and corporate largess. Some years ago I also was frustrated when Front Page and some other web design tools died off. It is not only a pain in the but to re-do many sites (I host 15 or so - on IXWebhosting) but terribly time consuming. EZGenerator has SO many tools for the real web developer I won't go there as I am one to follow the KISS principle. As I have used it and gotten more comfortable I have experimented with more advanced features. Anyway, the support is pretty good and there are tweaks with frequent updates (automatic). The support forums are pretty good as well. The tutorials are great but can be a bit sparse when you are trying to do something specific. Overall it is a really great tool. Oh, and the templates are really great, numerous. You can change the entire look and feel of a site in just a few seconds by just using a different template. I haven't yet found a case where this broke any functionality. Pretty cool. Anyway, just my thoughts. When you find a really good/great product, you want to give them credit and help the sales a bit! There ARE other android sites that provide excellent apps and many authors provide on multiple sites, but not many. It is still a new domain for devices and smart phones are leading, but tablets are very convenient, but because of size, not as easy to carry. Not easy to type or run interactive apps as they are not easy to hold and manipulate. There are a lot of difficulties but they are very nice for coffee table accouterments. Nice to have a nice tablet to look up something, add a netflix streaming movie to your que, scan email etc. I've had a ViewSonic for several weeks and it's presentation is great, easy to use, has a few glitches as all new tech does. All in all, not bad to couch surf, surf in bed while the wife watches Leno or something. I don't think they will ever take over from the convenient smart phone or laptop for replacement. 15. Do the math. on Cancer Resembles Life 1 Billion Years Ago · · Score: 1

I'm certainly no scientist, but this does make some logical sense. Doctors/Scientists do not know what causes cancer; just ask them. Someone mentioned the pharmaceuticals knowing a 'cure' but propagating drugs instead. There is some logic to that as well; follow the money trail. The fact is that many believe cancer can and is being 'cured' all the time. The 'cause' of many can be found by a bit of regression/statistical analysis. Also applies to Type II diabetes and heart disease. Plot the usage of pesticides fast foods, processed foods, high fructose corn syrup (and other refined sugars); all against the cancer rates. Since the war on cancer, the incidence has hardly been reduced, nor the survival rates by 'modern medicine'. The numbers don't lie! See for yourself! Add to that the increasing dominance of GMO crops which cross-contaminate other more 'natural' neighboring crops; these 'foods' have genetically embedded pathogens/pesticides! How's that for genetic engineering? If you then research doctors like Max Gerson back to the 1940's, you will see a steady, constant track record of cancer cures! Yes CURES. The cure? Just natural foods, organic fruits, vegetables, whole grains. There are numerous clinics around the world (not in the USA) curing cancer with a Holistic approach. They can't do business here in the USA because it is illegal! Yes, the AMA, FDA, Pharmaceuticals have managed to write laws that tell doctors they cannot prescribe non-pharmaceutical treatments or the will loose their license and be prosecuted! Doctors get almost NO education on nutrition, much less nutritional therapies. How is that for following the money trail? Before you toss tomatoes (please place them in a basket as they are high in lycopene and very therapeutic for cancer patients!), let me say that I have prostate cancer! Yep, and treating it with a Holistic approach is working as my PSA levels have returned to normal (see: http://prostatecancerfight.info./ I am walking the walk. So, this genetically based historical comment/research may have some substance after all. If these indeed are primitive genetic throwbacks that have resurfaced because of depressed immune system or other environmental contamination caused deficiency, maybe it should be examined! If whole organic foods can treat/cure cancer, maybe this natural approach addresses the primitive genetic strains by combating it with the same defense mechanisms that the human body has engineered over evolutionary time. So called medical science has made absolutely NO progress in fighting cancer, heart disease, diabetes II and other diseases; while natural organic foods seem to be presenting viable alternatives. Do the math. Chart the 'success' if you can find any. Remember the definition of 'doctors' of a cancer 'cure' is surviving FIVE years! The success of alternative holistic approaches measure success in decades! Go figure. Do your own research! Cheers, Skip Stein Orlando Florida http://www.wholefoods4healthyliving.com/

It was all things to all people and became very popular in the Banking and Scientific circles. Unfortunately, IBM released it before it was really ready for 'prime time' and the compiler errors created a 'bad feeling' with a lot of programmers (back in the day when programmers made their own decisions). Anyway, I'm an old fart and don't believe we have made much if any progress. Just try to read some of the code sets created today. Most are unstructured and unfathomable as to any real base logic flow. I don't care which one you select, there is no real training with basic program logic flow. Most programmers today are 'self taught', which is admirable, but do you want a 'self taught' surgeon to take out your appendix or do a valve replacement on your heart?
