I've read some of the user reviews of the software on some sites, and they're very funny. Worthy of/. Most award it 5 stars because of the humor, so the author might be mistaken to think there's another motive.
The German engineers that NASA used to start the American space program and which worked on into the Apollo program always did design everything in metric because that's how they were taught. Their calculations were then converted to Imperial for the engineers who actually put together the equipment. I guess there were a lot of "conversion errors" then too.
The brain also generates a substantial amount of heat. In humans it's thought one of the reasons our ancestors started to stand vertically was so their heads could be higher from the ground and stay cooler in the hot climate where they evolved. Any animal with a large amount of body tissue surrounding their brain (in a chest cavity) would suffer overheating, and having the brain near the surface of the body makes it more vulnerable to damage from bumps, falls and attacks.
Perhaps someone can explain how homocide cases in the US go? Here in the UK it's unusual for the police to make blatant press conferences announcing the evidence they have against a suspect and why it must point to him being guilty, but in the US it seems commonplace. Often the public in the UK don't find out about crucial evidence until the trials are over. The US police try the suspect in front of the media before going to court. Are they trying to have public opinion sway the court process in their favour?
On a related note (and a story I just submitted to/.) Tiscali have just shutdown their JukeBox online music streaming service. Their reasons are given here Tiscali Jukebox switch off Q & A. From the article:
"Why have you decided to shut down the service today?
Because after going online in total accordance with the music industry and having it launched officially, thus letting our users access it with the characteristics we tested and fine-tuned, today the music industry forwards unexpected demands."
and
"Clearly, major labels do not understand the business potential that is behind a service like Tiscali Juke Box which, by acknowledging and paying the rights for all songs being listened to in streaming mode, allows the safeguard of the rights of the industry and the artists."
This is a dupe. See http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/27/121 1220
And anyway, they're not saying Windows runs slowly as an OS, the article is discussing why current Windows development is so slow compared to earlier releases and offerings from Apple.
If the SCO-IBM case tells us anything then it's likely that Microsoft have already bought a license from NTP for the patented technology they're using to sue RIM. Ever wondered where NTP are getting the money from to fight their case?
If they kept the experiment going then the rest of the world could get an idea of how safe the sites are they're visting depending on which browser they're using. A bit like the service from Siteadvisor which I can't wait to see working.
Part of the reason for this high figure is that the population in the UK is rapidly aging; the birth rate is falling and the elderly are living longer. I heard recently that at the moment there are five working people for every retired person, but in 10 years time it will be two working people for every retired person. It's unlikely elderley people were taught evolution in school during their childhood or have been interested in scientific developments since then (and evolution is hardly the most covered science topic!). Hopefully the percentage in creationist believers won't increase, indicating that science education is working properly here.
I'm telling the truth. I personally met Stuart Okin at Microsoft a few days before the interview, and it was he who arranged my interview with their recruitment partner.
I still disagree. I have worked in pre and post sales for a number of years. I have been put in a number of awful situations where I have had to try against all hope to get a system to do something that is impossible but that the salesman told the customer was available. The customers are always upset, and they take it out on me being the offical rep of my VAR on their site.
I have a bit more tact than you're giving me credit for. It's easy to sway the sales conversation to give the truth instead of a lie. And even better, once the pre-sales guy gets involved I've always been able to get the customer to upgrade or enhance their products based on new features that I know are in the software, not a sales fantasy.
Does what it says on the tin.

I don't!
Is that because the Digg submission was censored?

I never make predictions, and I never will.
1. Work out fractal map.
2. Place domains on map.
3. Ping servers and put them on map.
4. ?
5. Profit!!!
Or is there pure geek value in this?
Google doesn't even appear on the first page for searches on intranet and documents!
The dolphins need hind legs to roundhouse the sharks with frickin' lasers on their heads.
The dolphins are growing new limbs they'll need to construct their spaceships to get off the earth.

If you live outside of the US and have done something that the US have made illegal then don't go there.
Any laptop with a microphone will pick up someone rapping on the case.
Thanks. Looks like a nice place to visit.

Would people please stop using the word "Law" when referring to scientific theories. It confuses the creationists.
