Dailymotion is less restrictive and you can even show boobs:D
However, based on France's recent draconian data retention law I think I'll be closing my Dailymotion account.
You're missing the point. whether or not my data is worth compromising (which I whole heatedly believe that it is), is irrelevant. Setting aside the fact that I may have cached passwords and financial information stored on my hard drive, the fourth amendment is meant to guard against unreasonable searches and seizures. Since the US government has chosen to ignore the constitution, I believe that a "better safe than sorry" approach is quite prudent to say the least. You might want to check if you're currently located in a Constitution Free Zone as well.
Sounds like they're gearing up for yet another fear mongering campaign given the fact that the fear of terrorism has all but evaporated in the general populous.
TiVo's senior director of IT, Richard Rothschild, for instance, explained how those set-top boxes track everything you watch for advertising and marketing and then combine the information with supermarket membership card data to determine how effective ad campaigns are.
Fuck that shit, I've been running MythTV for probably 7 years now and it is (and always has been) far superior to any of that bullshit Tivo has ever delivered.
When it was reported by Tivo that Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" was the most replayed moment ever in Tivo history, I just laughed my ass off, as what I had always suspected had just been confirmed... they're watching everything you do.
I wouldn't pause too long on that teeny bopper in a swimsuit if I were you, as it just might get your ass v&.
At the very least religion seems to make for effective conditioning in that healthy skepticism and logical reasoning don't appear to be valued by society at large (at least in the US). Alas, questioning authority is frowned upon by a sizable portion of the population.
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
Of the people who actually find the Ads Preferences page — and these must be people pretty into privacy — only 1 in 8 asks to opt out of being tracked.
That's probably because people who are into privacy know that opting out will most likely show up in somebody else's DB as another data point, i.e. somebody who's concerned about privacy.
Personally I'm more comfortable using no script, adlock plus, proxies, etc.
For added fun I'm going to watch these videos over and over via Tor, changing my IP with each viewing.
I hope they enjoy pursuing untamed ornithoids without cause.
KDE has gotten way to bloated for my taste. I haven't used Gnome for over 10 years so I have no comment in that regard.
For me, XFCE strikes the perfect balance between form and function. YMMV
poppycock! I don't need your fancy schmancy graphical user interfaces and widgets. Back in my day we did everything via CLI and we liked it.. Lynx is still the best browser out there. Now get off my lawn!
Personally, I don't want to see ad-blocking go main stream (I feel the same way about Linux too, but that's another rant)
Over the years I've become quite adept at writing rules for adblock to block ads, trackers, and otherwise undesirable content.
This will only serve to make advertisers come up ways to make advertising more difficult to block and ultimately more obtrusive.
Forget ciphering, imagine all the bitcoins you could mine with this thing!
I for one welcome... ah never mind.
How about your underware?
I'm not familiar with that app, do I even wanna know....?
programmers sure know how to fiddle with their tools.
There's an understatement.

Better 'Tube Girl' than 'Tub Girl'.
I'll spare you the link.
An ISP that blocks ANY connections isn't an ISP.
FTFY

I really hate how society has evolved.
Everyone's a complete and utter pussy incapable of rolling with the punches.
Sometimes I just wish an asteroid would smash into the Earth and send us back to a simpler time.
I'll be blocking the Google +1 button just like I do with the Digg and the Facebook Like button.

Back then, the Internet was one - a global web, similar regardless of weather
Well I can attest to the fact that "back then" during stormy weather my internet went down on several occasions.
No phone = no internet.
I really don't think there's even remotely a shortage of people to sue.

A light should not be producing heat
My iguana would tend to disagree with this statement.
And at only $8.50 per bulb they're quite the bargain.
I'm not so sure I trust BSD code to be secure.
This reminds me of Super Mario Sunshine.
