We had that kind of BS with "Antivirus companies making their viruses so they'll keep on selling" kind of crap. An anti-spyware is the same as an antivirus, except it gets annoying stuff instead of dangerous stuff.
Anyone remembers www.shybe.com ? It was a website full of "how to destroy pcs" howtos. Anyway. He put a howto up by carefully putting a CD under his car's front wheel and turning the steering right to left a few times. Now if the cds resist to that kind of torture, I'm a buyer!
Also, that's the kind of scratch-resistance I would like on a car. Not only for shopping mall parkings, but also because I have to park my car in the street. I have a neighbor who still doesn't understand that I don't like to see his bumper "exchanging paint" with mine, even if last winter my '78 GP backed off his car up to the middle of the street. Hell, everyone knows you won't be going in destruction derbys with that kind of protection though!
I've been using a laptop (Toshiba Satellite M30) for about a year now, and I find it decent enough for playing UT or other games. At first it seemed a little dark, but after a while (and having the AC on) it gets pretty sharp. Also mine has about the same format as a 16:9 screen:)
Does that mean cops wont't be able to see my radar detector with their radar detector detecteor? I mean, at least for that 1 in 100000000000 chance it ever happens at the right moment?
Here's a fun trick: Go to your friend's house and ask if you can check your email quick from their computer and visit the site. Sit across the street and laugh as unmarked vans take your friend away.
Or just go wardriving around with a laptop on WiFi. Imagine the whole police swat team surrounding half the city and arresting innocent people! heheh
Call it OT but something kinda related to this happened here in Montreal:
Some guy stole some other guy's ID and started making trouble and stuff.. But when he went to the bank for a loan approval or something alike the police was waiting for him.. or perhaps the original guy. It turned out that the victim already had debt and money and gambling problems including fraud. The police was expecting the real person to get to the bank and caught the ID stealer instead. Now try to get out of that kind of sh*hole.
I know I've changed from irc to porn to newsgroups to webcams to tech stuff then slowly slashdot. Then I got a wife and a kid and now I'm stuck to surf at work. Since we're behind a proxy I must use links and telnet.

Also, Bender will have to change his habits!

...and people make webservers out of those? Sorry, I'll stick to my good ol' RH webserver.
I can imagine playing Quake 3 or UT on that thing! Now I gota convince my wife...

Firefox... Mozilla... Opera... IE... GUI browsing is for wimps. I use (e)links for surfing, and wget for getting!
Here's a little adventure with a 486.. So first-generation Pentiums should do the trick.
I remember Blizzard had trouble getting Diablo 2 out!
It doesn't cost them. They just don't sell like they anticipated to sell.

You can use it at home, on your pc or even in your car. The price is a wee bit high though.
