that 7 is so much more secure for x,y,z reason, and that i do not need an anti virus any longer because it is THAT secure....
or that the media center built in, comes with all the gadgets I need for my home theatre....which i get out of my vid card....why change??? Why pay more, when I have a non legit copy of xp....seriously, they need to move on from the model they USED to work and use back when 95 came out...xp was the last of its kind...to use that model and succeed. It ended up being a great story for die hard (the last one)....but also yes, I do agree, when I watched BSG, I thought, if your opponent is a computer, why would you use computers to win against him, that it could easily take control of....

As far as being dead on about needing to be off the grid (internet)....why would you want to have a control center for a nuclear reactor on a network that employees use to access their hotmail accounts.
I think if you have a control center that takes care of a nuclear reactor, you do not want it to have
anything to do with other systems, for the sake of failure...have a second computer in the control center that is made for communications, but that first one is only for running the reactor...without usb or cd roms etc...so that some bright individual does not get the temptation to use it for other things. In the end, we are going towards a society of cyborgs, with fake hearts and lungs and livers...this is inevitable.
My question is how and when will we start to change our daily routines to fit with this, if you need an MRI, you may not be able to get one, as the chip in your head would get damaged....or some cop wanting to use a tazer, will now be sued for using his tazer on someone who has an implant...etc...

I can not believe that a government would sit there and declare that this is not enough of a problem for them ,aside their own network and not push for the ISPs to get involved. We all know hacking is an INTERNATIONAL past time, so why not monitor incoming international traffic, to filter through, say the chinese, and put blocks on those channels, that if you must , you would have to use a special proxy that is maintained by the ISPs themselves. This could not only limit torrent abuse, but also limit or control information
flow to a certain extent. We have info overload right now, what would be so bad, to limit all the traffic to be local only to that continent.

I know what I am suggesting raises a few eyebrows, but think about it this way, if I never need to go to a chinese server to get a webpage, why give me access at all, and the reverse is true, if I have no outgoing traffic for china, why allow any incoming traffic, unless i fill a form to my ISP, asking that the vpn residing in china for my company is something i would like to have access to...this would soooooooo limit the amount of wasted bandwidth, and also hacking to a big percent, and also just good old fashioned traffic...no extra ping and echo packet requests to find out where to go, hopping here and there....
