One of the first things that stood out, they said was, that a Canadian employee that was let go that still had an active account. Then another, then another, seems the Canadian admins are not doing their jobs properly, hopefully this was rectified, and scripts were created for easy deletion / or suspension of accounts of employees let go.
Finally, when 3 big corporations like this converge and get together to better control the problematics of that industry, only one good thing can happen, make more money..by raising the prices in agreement.
I tend to agree with you that most abuse the system, but do not ever fool yourself into thinking that the US is badly off, they talk a mean game saying they are in crisis and bla bla bla, yet if you knew how much money they REALLY have their coffers. They gave out about a trillion dollars to date for incentives to stimulate the economy without even a real guarantee they might make some money back, they did not even bat an eyelash, they have very smart accountants working for the gov.
I think they might have national liquid worth in the quintillions, not that it would be down on paper, I mean all the diamonds, art, gold, etc,etc,etc...adds up their net worth, then you say that also they have an enormous debt,...on paper only, the debt is worth nothing if the person owing does not want to pay you back, and guess what, no one has the firepower to force the US overnight to pay up what it owes...so this supposed debt, yes its very real, but it is not even associated with the net worth of the US (in negative) as they would never let someone force them to pay all now, that would use up too much of their money.
How is it that the person was a friend that had the ability to poke this person, if this person had a restraining order, she could have just eliminated her from her friends list, I would have ruled a little lighter on this one, I know she was told no contact... but technically she did not directly contact the person, she merely placed a post on a forum which the other person views regularly, there was no real direct communication....I can post on someone's wall, does not mean that person will read it.
Obama is doing good, he is coming up with ways to save money and is showing he has more brains then the last 3 presidents put together....keep it up Mr.President!
The sad truth is this is a very correct statement of today's website admins. Many do not know what they are doing, and should not be heading any sort of B2E site...I logged unto a website to order something, and got all the way to the end to find out there was no ssl lock once they were asking me for my cc info. I stopped there, and sent them an email stating that this was below par standard, and that they should involve a better company then the one who designed their site. They replied they had a verisign logo so all was ok....ummmm....ok.....I guess I won't be shopping there anytime soon!
The same day/. reported about this, they also reported that the FBI director just nabbed the BIGGEST ring ever of fraud reported at 1.5 million dollars.
If you account for at least 1 million credit cards (very small number for any hacking ring), and then know that most hackers tax those cards with 1.5$ per month so the activity is minute, then you know this constitutes just a very, very, very small portion of the big pie out there, and so insignificant, I wonder whey they bothered to even talk about this one.....oh wait, maybe it was to try and overlook that stupid comment he made that tarnished the department's image. Seriously, he may know more then me on terrorism (actually the FBI is not lead on terrorism btw), but I doubt he was the most qualified for the job, usually these positions are given to friends of friends, nothing to do with experience nor talent.
Probably, but at least offer to help rebuild the damages caused by your lack of action. I know a few people who got stung by identity theft and still have problems today because of it, and yet, you would think with the power that the FBI has, they could write up a sort of side note on that person's record that would help rectify any problems associated with this type of activity, on that person's account.
Of course not, that would mean they accept responsibility for their actions...which they never do, siting that it's a necessary evil to do the work they do. I don't buy it though, there is a better way, just not one which is cost efficient for THEM, this is the easier and cheaper way, make someone else suffer to be able to trace the money back up the line.
Exactly, please do not reply to this email, also no forms to verify anything, you need to go the the original site and log in from there...never from the actual email itself, no banks would ever do that.
They let this go on, because they think the cost of ruining a few lives is ok, as long as in the end they make their bust and all is ok in coptown. Problem is , real time transactions are happening while they study the case, and letting 1.5 million slip through in order to follow the trace back to the top. Like a guy holding a camera while someone is being mugged by a lynch mob and doing nothing, should there not also be consequences especially when FEDS (of all people) let something like this happen, when they have the power to stop it in its tracks....instead of letting it go on, and on, how long was this case going on for...?
Hard decisions, but sometimes the ends do not justify the means. I had a ticket once for running through a stop sign, although it was covered almost 100% behind a tree, as I mentioned this to the cop, they told me to just say that in court as they knew many people would run through, instead of just telling the city to fix the problem....however I felt very frustrated, should there have been a kid playing nearby and I had not seen the sign, I would have maybe run him over by accident, then the cop would have been responsible for his life being lost, because instead of directing traffic (like when an intersection is burned out) they were using the hidden stop sign to generate revenue....very depressing!
I agree, ALL banks tell you they will not communicate with you through email to confirm anything, they will tell you to come down or call, so for you to get an email stating we need to verify something is a scam, PERIOD! The fact that this guy is even letting us know he came this close to screwing up is not something I would want our FBI director to be acknowledging! You will hopefully find a letter of resignation soon on someone's desk.
This guy might have thought coming out about this would help tell people "hey, even I got almost nabbed" thinking it would help solidify the threat level, but the only threat level I see, is the fact we got a dolt running things at the FBI!
Either the warden was extremely stupid, or he got smooth talked like the guy did in Prisonbreak, sometimes, even the best of them get fooled, when someone really sounds like they have reformed...and are willing to help.
However, this is where you are wrong, they were an American company doing whatever in a different country with different laws, then bringing their paychecks home, so the money mad elsewhere is not taxable in the US if it was made elsewhere, same as the products made there or sold there... ther is no ground for the US to intervene, unfortunately.
You bring up some important points about the relationship the US has with China, and I think your right, the US has to reevaluate its dealings with China to protect itself, should China (on a powerplay) decide they are cutting us off.
Hate to tell you, China trumps US in a world power, when it comes to world influence, especially now that everything is brought in from or made in china...also we are talking about software, not an actual physical object to sell, so patents are not really recognized per se as real theft in certain countries (like India) where theft of an actual physical thing(s) would lead to cooperation of sorts...
Well, even if they get a ruling in their favor, good luck going into another country that does not recognize our laws, and try to get that money from whomever, the Chinese will laugh at the US, and this could be one of those catalysts that evolves the relationship into a terminal one.
Definitely agree there should be a stronger governed presence, not because Apple says, "oh its ok now because we say so..." that its ok, it is ok because the law says so, and that there should be better understanding of what constitutes fair play especially on a small phone that acts like a computer and can be used to run programs of any nature. You bought the phone it is yours, but you do not allow me to run my app on it because you say I should not....screw you Apple...suck on MY apples!
There was that Indian kid that made a solar panel out of human hair, maybe we could just use the hair to make our panels and not need that high cost indium. However, you will see alot more scalping going on from now on,....especially in places like Dominican republic where instead of taking your kidneys, well they take your scalp!
You also have that special paint you can apply to get more, so in combination with this, lay the shingles down, then spray a thin film of the solar paint, and then voila extra voltage output from solar shingles as they are now covered with a much higher yield paint then itself, plus if any of the paint comes off over the years, well the bottom IS solar panel to boot, so you technically could just leave it.
Half the puddle jumper was on one side, the other half wasn't? I will have to rewatch that episode, I seem to remember that half was one side, the other half on the other side, but I could be wrong...
Think of all the illegal copies of windows....now imagine that overnight they were to offer a special deal for those with an illegal copy of windows. Buy a license from us for 6months at 50$ rechargeable every 6months after that...atleast everybody and their grandmother would get the first 6 months, get their updates, be rid of 90% of viruses and problems, getting rid of 3/4 of the botnets out in the wild, and then when it came to the next 6motnhs, Microsoft would have made their money already, the people will probably revert back to being non legal, with no ill effects, except for those talked into keeping their copies legit for further patches. The people that did buy legal copies would not have anything to bitch about, as these were not legit copies and revert back to being bad people...which most owning a legit copy do not want to be branded... everybody wins.
