Being a devil's advocate to a devil's advocate is a nasty job, you have to contradict yourself all the time just to prove your point.

Seriously though, I do agree not everyone makes informed statements and just blast their opinions, however I have read scientific journals on both sides that do put up a great argument for both sides...hence why so many people are just on the fence about this one.

I hope that all this hoopla is propaganda, and that climate change is natural and nothing man made, however I would still like to know if it keeps getting worse, what sort of system do we have to alert us when ...the next storm hits, or the next volcano or the next....cause if it keeps getting bigger and bigger in damages or size of disaster, we need to prepare for certain level where the next earthquake might knock off California off the face of the map...! If that happens , pretty much 80% of Hollywood is gone, say good buy to Jack Bauer!

Another thing too, is that if you live enar a field that is unkept by the city, that has immense foliage of weeds growing, then all that pollen comes into your yard, you are fighting a losing battle.

I am getting myself astro turf everywhere, and getting rid of my lawn mower...!

Unfortunately this is exactly why trying to do something ice for someone is ridiculous, and that the last die hard movie, based on true story within the government about how lax the system is, and that when this was brought to the attention of certain individuals, they were sentenced for breach when they showed they broke easily into one organization's file system...I tend to agree that it seems the government is not making any friends, and setting precedent that even people within the US who would want to see their private info kept private, could be held accountable for such treason because they got the gut feeling they should let the US government in on their mistakes.

I have some practice at ditching work that someone else gives me, by asking they ask my boss for some time, which he will then give me a special task in my project planning allowing me the 3 hours gobbled up.

I had a friend that came from Syria, he said they did the same there, controlled everything (but for money , not for crowd control)
He could not even chat with his wife on msn, because they monitored the ports that msn used for that. ...so I devised a
small chat program myself that could link to any port, even port 80, and this allowed the flow of traffic unhindered.

He still uses it today, there could have also been many more things he could have used, ssh tunnels, vpn, and many more, but the
small chat program i gave him was perfect for his needs. Most countries that have such limitations are only hurting themselves in the end, the population will figure out a way to bypass it, especially the kids...and they will end up hating their own country because of it.

Monitoring for a specific activity is one thing, blocking altogether is another.

Imagine if now, the nuclear waste did not have to go missing off the back end of ships and trucks everywhere, because we had a safe means of disposal....it would not only make the garbage management industry falter, but make us rethink our failure to adopt nuclear energy as a viable source for cities everywhere.

  14. What an ass on Jack Kirby Heirs Reclaim Marvel/Disney Rights · · Score: 1

Just as finally hollywood was getting things right in the way they were making Marvel movies, and not only adding proper special effects to match the abilities the superheroes might have, they also were able to give some good stories , compared to let's say that failed attempt in the mid 80s to bring captain america to the big screen.

I got to say though, it does not surprise me, it is almost like it smells of some sort of shady dealing. Either someone wanted to hurt disney, and make them spend money on nothing , or bring up their own stocks, I wonder how much he will hold out for, before giving disney the rights they are looking for. 1billion dollars sounds right?

No, sorry, I am not a yes man, I develop software, and it is the engineer's job to stand up for quality control. His reputation is on the line, this is what is severely taught in school...that when you are at that level, you not only have your community to protect, but your own reputation, jobs are a dime a dozen....quality isn't.

I do agree to a certain extent that gravity from the planets will be less in those tubes, and you can ride the wave, but will it be such a fuel saver as we think, I am not sure, we might use more fuel trying to navigate them anyways, then just stick to the path we had from direct point a to point b, instead of snaking all the way around....

I am looking forward to seeing how this is going to pan out, sure MS probably gave in, because they helped push the patent, so they want to help enforce it...even though there is no proof for the public of this fact. I am sure that there is a sort of under the table dealing here, where MS will end up owning this patent, and being that it was enforced somehow through misdirection on their own part, and the likes of blizzard etc..would follow, the future of this type of game, will be great for MS!

I hope the likes of blizzard and the rest of them, band together to form a sort of counter to the lawsuit. Hopefully by pooling their resource, they will be able to find a loophole should this thing be somewhat legit. Good god, I would hate for them to start asking us to pay even more to play WoW because they now have to pay royalties.
