One of the requirements was that users submit an actual working copy of the site. They wanted it to work on most browsers, I don't remember it saying anything about being code-compliant or whatever other BS.
I assume they wanted this so they did could just take the code and implement it without any additional work. Most geeks are lazy, no?

Looks like somebody just got a boner from being Slashdotted!
FTFA: "Any person who sends, by means of a computer resource or a communication device, â" (a) any content that is grossly offensive or has menacing character; or (b) any content which he knows to be false, but for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred or ill will... shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years and with fine."
>> This provision seems to be a way to enforce acts online which would otherwise be quite serious in person. You can't threaten to kill someone IRL, so don't do it on the internet either...
"Whoever publishes/ transmits/ causes to be published/ transmitted in the electronic form, any material which is lascivious or appeals to the prurient interest or if its effect is such as to tend to deprave and corrupt persons who are likely, having regard to all relevant circumstances, to read, see or hear the matter contained or embodied in it, shall be punished on first conviction with imprisonment of either prescription for a term which may extend to two years and with fine which may extend to five lakh rupees and in the event of second or subsequent conviction with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years and also with fine which may extend to ten lakh rupees.
If the material is sexually explicit act or conduct then the punishment on first conviction is imprisonment which may extend to five years and a fine which may extend to ten lakh rupees. >> Correct me if I'm wrong, but this one looks like it prevents people from UPLOADING porn, not from looking at it. I am not aware of the current state of censorship laws in India (I'm sure some slashdotter out there does know), but I would assume that this is in place because publishing physical copies of porn is already illegal in India. I am totally just guessing here.
ZeroPaid has always gotten a boner about sensationalist material though. I'd be quite surprised if this wasn't completely misinterpreted...
Part of my job is working as help desk. The only way to survive is to make fun of the noobies. When someone sends you an email reading "Please help, my internet doesn't work." you can't help but laugh...
Damn, you guys are ruthless about bashing the admins.
This is slashdot, not the comment section for youtube.
Still, I keep reading disagree mail hoping that they'll get better... they haven't yet. (Except for shampoo, shampoo is hilarious - albeit I wouldn't categorize his writing as 'disagree mail').
Immediately I thought this was just a clever front for the military's plans to monitor ALL email.
I saw 'Goats' in the subject and automatically hesitated pretty badly before clicking.
often it will have the opposite effect however; they may become even more strict and pass even more ridiculous laws
They seem a little naive to me using moving parts.
10,000 years is a long time to hope that bugs, animals, or debris won't get caught in the mechanical moving parts of this clock.
At least nobody who built it will be around then to prove them wrong.
I am out of mod points, but I'm straining my brain trying to mentally beam them out to you paitre.
Megan deserves this.
"With my usual mistrust of Google..."
This guy is obviously super-cool!
I imagine the cars are cheap because they saved on web server costs?
Do you not remember the Slashdot CSS Redesign Contest?

Too bad he also tried to run his server off of it.
I was waiting patiently outside of a coffee shop with my puppy while my girlfriend was inside getting a couple White Mochas.
As I sat on the bench, two cops came and sat down right next to me. They were in the middle of a conversation, which I couldn't help but overhear.
Cop 1: "Why'd we arrest that guy again?"
Cop 2: "Man I don't even know!"
Cop 1: "Eh, whatever. He had it coming to him. They'll sort it out at the station."
My girlfriend's company cut pay by 5% across the board. Ironically, this actually INCREASED her paycheck, as it bumped her into a lower tax bracket.
or it didn't happen?

My Roku rebooted on its own while I was watching a movie (Primer) @ ~1:30AM PST 1/1/09...
It was "time to discuss drug prohibition" a LONG time ago.
