I used to be like you and think I'd take my PC over everything. That was untill I picked up Half life 2 episode 1. Long story short, I've had 2 CDs, 5-6 e-mails from Valve tech support and I still can't get the damn game running. I know what I'm doing with stuff but I've had so much hassle I really just can't be bothered with Valve games ever again.
Right now I'd take a console over a PC purely for the lack of DRM bullshit and huge hassle of fixing things when they go wrong.
Firstly you need to calm the fuck down. No one givs a toss what you scream and shout so you just come off as a child.
Secondly this benefits people outside China when you read it carefully. You play WoW for 5 hours and then every hour your drops and exp gain lowers by 10% (don't know the figure sbut I figure this is how it works). So that way if you play for 5 each hours you're getting 50% of the benefits you were getting before, now take that to another 10 hours and you gsain nothing.
No one is stopping you playing, they're just encouraging you to stop playing by making the benefits slowly disappear. I don't doubt it's also a good way to stop grind fest players from out grinding everyone and taking over the game world with their power, where no one else can stand up to them.
Also this has nothing to do with oh.. all but one game you've listed. You can still play HL2 (although I doubt it's allowed in China given the game's story line) or Doom 3 or whatever crappy little MUD you want to play. This is just the major MMORPGs which are aimed are sucking you in and never letting go, unlike the other games you've listed which have a set ending and "time to call it quits" type of gameplay.

Maybe it's just that I like characters to be constant and keep incharacter, where you don't seem to have this in Simpsons.

I got this problem as a thief in Silkroad online. People instantly saw the thief class as an "evil" person, where as I saw it as an option and I could be good or evil.
I'd jack traders and take half their stuff, which ment they'd make no profit on the trade run, but they'd also lose no money. All they really lost is 20 minutes of their time and maybe a bit of self esteem.
Other times I'd see dead newbies with loot I could steal and I'd res them and protect them instead of robbing them. It all depended on my mood and the level they were at.
Remember your character is your character. You maybe evil or you may not, it's your choice and my choice was always to play how I wanted others to play. To do what they felt was best for all involved.
You can't throw around excuses how "it's in character to grief newbies", because it's not. It's just you being an asshole. You can't pan off your guilt onto other reasons. YOU control what you do, you pick your path. If you decide to be a wanker than thats your choice.
I just wish I could install Episode 1. I bought the boxed version but whenever I try to install it the filepath to steam doesn't work, it says c:/programfiles/steam\STEAM.EXE, which isn't a valid file path.. hence doesn't work and you can't chnage it. This is happened with 2 DVDs..
Steam support is terrible and no one seems to know a cure. Anyone got an idea?
