But thats an extra point of failure because you need point to point messaging between the aircraft and ground systems. ADS-B just broadcasts from the aircraft continuously. If you want to use crypto the aircraft would have to be able to negotiate with multiple ground systems so that it can transition from sector to sector, country to country. There would still be nothing to prevent private ground systems from establishing a connection to aircraft.
Additionally ADS-B is designed to work between aircraft (it is fully distributed) so the key exchange would have to work in that mode too. In practice you would still have an open system, but with more ways for it to go wrong.
The worst thing which can happen is for the ATC system to not be able to see the aircraft because a key is wrong. Concerns about terrorism are secondary.
I thought you could have a standard charging interface a bit like USB. You hook up your car and it uses a data interface to talk to the electricity provider. They exchange account details and if that works then you get charging current. Devices like this could be installed on a lot of electricity poles. Pretty much anywhere you can safely stop you could charge from the grid.
Maybe part of the reason is that we hardly ever see the constellations with a perfectly dark sky, and with clean air. Even away from cities now the air will be somewhat more polluted, and satellites litter the sky, though these effects should be fairly minor.
Another more subtle factor is that people today have a lot more to occupy their minds. The latest catastrophe in Pakistan; football results from across the world; 24 hour news, all that stuff which fills our heads with dubious information. Ancient people weren't told what to think as much, so their imaginations had free reign.
And now the tired old man bit: will our civilisation end when the next generation is self absorbed to the point where they have lost the ability to invent? Is this what happened to Rome and ancient Greece?
It goes once around in about 26000 years so 13000 years would be be maximum displacement of Polaris from North, but its proper motion across the sky will move Polaris away by the time the pole returns anyway.
Years ago my dad did something like that with a commer camper van in Yugoslavia. The commer has a hatch between the two front seats which you can lift up to work on the engine. The carby had a press on cap which you can lift off so you can pour fuel into the engine from the driving seat if you like.
Out of fuel and with no local currency left dad says Michael, get the tank from the stove, hose and all. Michael gets the tank and dad pokes the hose down down the carburettor. I open the tap on the tank and dive for a window because the smell is horrible. I can see the headlines already Australian tourists incinerated in freak explosion and you know what, the car started and ran pretty well. I doubt we had much oxygen to breathe towards the end though and we rolled the last 500 metres towards the frontier, cashed travellers cheques and bought proper fuel.
Have you ever looked at a locomotive? They are diesel electric, and very efficient. Mechanical drivetrains have very high losses compared to batteries.
Locomotives don't have batteries, but the gas turbines could be made very efficient in this case if they are either stopped or run flat chat. The peaks would be smoothed out by the batteries.
Days, not years. In later years a relative cooked rabbit drumsticks for us. Quite good but you have to be careful to pick the right animals, given the amount of biological warfare used against them here.
I have seen their name inside a huge mess of java COTS which I was shovelling around as a part of a my day job. I doubt their main business is going to be operating bitbucket, more likely charging ten thousand bucks a seat for use of a copy of bitbucket inside corporate intranets, probably with some useless eclipse integration thrown in.
That would spoil the fun.
I'm with you on all points, but why are you so angry at Canada Post?!
Because they sometime deliver Child Pornography and so should be shut down.
It would be nice if:
a)You explained what Anonymous was(is it a group? an unknown attacker? A kind of bug spray?)
Its you!
Too hard, I suppose.

Since aviation is international keeping an encryption key secret would be pretty much impossible.

Its the worlds smallest violin, playing just for you.
Actually you know the vehicle detectors at intersections use induction. They free run at 70Khz. Now there's a thought....

manned lunar mission doesn't have to mean a landing. It could just be their normal orbital vehicle on a figure eight trajectory around the moon.
I will only be 72. You can count me in.
Come on. We both know it was a girl, back in Bethlehem.
My eeepc701 has the smallest screen around and the stock gnome desktop is fine for me.

You'll never know, since you're probably against life extension research.
Why do you think that?

Also after years of research Jaguar found a way to make a gas turbine leak oil.

I'm glad to see the use of slime molds to study transport networks on there.
Sounds like an ideal model for Melbourne drivers.
At least, not those who read brand-new stories and are willing to click an unknown link and chancing NSFW content
Also a lot of people who browse slash from work have to use IE, so they have two reasons not to risk NSFW content.
Makes me wonder if somebody has been playing...
