    In 1996 at a trade show I saw a setup for magazine photography. They used a film camera body retrofitted as a digital camera with a SCSI interface to a desktop PC.

    I'm not a conspiracy hound, but maybe you are right... how does one "accidentally" order Ubuntu? It's not an option in their customizer... you have to somehow navigate through to their open source page, which then links you to their open source computers

    I saw this article up on (I think) digg. That version said she won the laptop in a radio station contest.

    It does not reach full brightness in one cycle. 50 ms will get it nearly there, perhaps 100ms or a little more to get all the way. I'm afraid I'm away from my scope right now...

    Thats why LEDs running on DC are so much better.

    all code must be written in ADA.

    Listen I actually support an ADA software development environment. I spent the last week and a half merging 10 million lines of the stuff (its a good thing I don't know the language or I would be really stressed right now) and I have to say that no crime is worth that punishment.

    It should be possible for sites to block content to clients which block advertisments. At the very least the advertiser should be able to feed a stream of IP addresses to the server which hosts the main page and change the delivered pages accordingly.

    I wonder if it can resolve individual dendrite connections in the brain. If so, we've just developed our first brain scanner capable of mapping a living brain's circuitry. Which means, in principle, we now possess all the technology required to model a human brain

    One problem I can see is bandwidth. You would need to be able to stream all the state changes in the brain through your instrument. Thats a lot of data, and would require a lot of processing power.

    My experience from having and being treated for epilepsy is that everything our minds do is wired in. Memory, behaviour and behavioural disorders are all a result of a particular wiring configuration. Change one thing, you change other aspects of the system because they are just different aspects of the same system.

    When I had RSI in my right hand I changed to a left handed mouse configuration. When I couldn't make myself work that way I spent a couple of hours browsing porn. My brain rewired itself to accept a left handed mouse. Likewise if you want to change a configuration you call ADHD then give the system some non-ADHD tasks to do with a carrot to keep them at it.
