It is the ultimate way to manage mailing lists.

I know it is supposed to be a joke but just to clear some air.. you can very well install gentoo using the 3rd stage and grp. You can then emerge -uD world to get everything recompiled. Atleast this way you are not forced to watch the compile output scroll by in a tty and you can surf the net chat on irc or whatever you do normally, while the system is compiling.

You end up recompiling the whole system anyway, so whats the point in doing it the bootstrap way when you can just upgrade your system while watching pretty widgets?

Sure there will be increase in jobs in those rural areas.. but wouldnt the standard of living drop reasonably too? For businesses to move small jobs to rural areas it has to cost as low as moving them to india or other developing countries. The wages they give against the amount of work is incredibly low. I cant see how this is a positive step for local economy.

Plus I'hd rather have india take all those jobs. Everyone needs a chance to grow and taking away already established jobs from india is a severe backlash to its economy.

Can't you do that by setting things up to send items by email every time there's a new item posted? Or even by UseNet to a moderated group? What does RSS do that's new?
First off, you dont need to delete all the email once the 'expire'. Secondly firefox's live bookmarks are way too cool to be compaired with running an email client and switching between that and the browser. Thirdly, what you suggested is just another way of doing it and what difference would that make?

So what is the point of getting updates via email when you can just use live bookmarks from within browser, for example. Plus RSS are really valuable because they can and are integrated within various news feed sites like google news. Thats the strongest point of RSS feeds.
