It's so hard that most of them don't even read the bills they pass?? Come on, get a clue. If they really cared (and I will admit some of them do) they would at least try to NOT make it so damn obvious that they are fucking us over at every oppurtunity to line their own pockets.
And if you actually looked at the performance for those chips you'd see that the pricing for the dual cores actually favors AMD on a performance basis. The difference is that Intel released their "dual core" chips for the low end, while AMD only released them for their high end chips.
Also you're not comparing the same type of chip. Opteron is AMD's SERVER chipset, which are always more expensive than desktop chipsets.
Because intel's cores have to communicate with each other through the FSB, which is slower and also eats into your other bandwidth. AMD's dual cores have a special connector IN the chip that accomplishes this MUCH faster than the FSB. All intel did was take two chip and package them together, they still communicate in the same way that any normal dual chip system does. AMD's don't.
My TV cost about half of that and does 1080i. Of course I went with a CRT because they are better than anything else if you don't have space/weight issues.
Having recently bought a new computer with a $400 card in it I'd say that that they run about neck and neck on total price. My TV and computer (sans monitor) were about the same, so add in the monitor and console and you'd be paying about the same still.
You are apparently confused. You are mixing a political philopshy and an economic philosophy together. Granted, most libs are "Free-Market" ones, but there is nothing in the political philosophy saying that "the sole meaning of life is to make a profit". The libertarian political philosophy is basically complete personal freedom as long as you don't harm someone else and goverment is only there to protect the citizens.
And what is wrong with having no public health care and education? Everything in life has a price, the Libs are just more honest about how it is paid.
I've got a 17" CRT that I've had for 10 years now (paid out the ass for when I bought it) and it still works as well as the day I bought it. So I'm calling bull shit on your "increased longevity" claim considering how often I've seen LCDs fail.
I'm also calling bull shit on your significantly sharper image. I've seen the same image viewed through a LCD and a CRT at the same time and with the exception of the really crappy CRTs going up against the really expsenive CRTs the CRTs win.
If I got sex half as often as I checked email I think my heart would explode. Of course it is would be interesting because as the amount of sex increases the amount of email checking decreases, if for no other reason than you are either engaged in the sex act, or passed out from it, or eating the sandwhich or smoking the obligatory cig.
But I'm pretty sure that wishing for sex half as often as checking your email would either kill someone, or make them get in really good shape.
I actually check my mail more on days when I don't have anything to do than the days when I've got lots to do, which is why today I've already checked it like 20 times.
As far as hard ware reliability is concerned, I have an eMachine that I've had since 98. It still has the original components, except I've given it some more RAM and added an extra HD. Granted I haven't turned it on in 4 months, as it is currently running Red Hat and I've no need to use it ATM, but there is nothing wrong with it, and it's an eMachine.
On the other hand I've had to replace the HD in my Sony lappy three times in the 5 years I've had it. Not too impressed with sony's computers, even though the rest of their stuff seems pretty good.
Well, let's see. I've been running versions of Windows since the 3.1 days.
Don't remember ever really having problems with 3.1 and having to reinstall
95 and 98 required constant reinstalls (mainly due to my roomy screwing it up somehow)
NT 4 never required a reinstall.
Windows 2000 never required a reinstall
XP Pro I've had to reinstall a handfull of times, mainly because the hard drive was going bad and had to get a new hard drive, but there were a couple of times I had to do it for other reasons.
So overall, not too bad. I haven't had a virus on my system since the 98 days, and didn't even have a virus scanner for most of that time.
Then again, I'm not a dumb user that goes out and fills my computer up with spy ware, which is where most of the problems come into play.
So yeah, I'd say that it's pretty stable, as long as you know what you are doing. And I'll go ahead and point out that in order to get Linux running you've got to know what you're doing as well. Don't know anything about Macs since I haven't used any of their products since the Apple IIe.
Nah, even he isn't that stupid. Just go do some web crawling and you'll turn up all kinds of links talking about how Bush had planned this all along. I don't remember the links at this time though, and am too lazy to go find them, but you should feel free to.
Yep. If they release anything that contains GPL works AND their patents then their patents are now under the GPL, which means usable by ANY other GPL product.
Man I hope they screw up and actually do that.
You've never heard of a company having offices in different locations and one location needing the information from the other? Seems pretty critical to me, as well as sane and common.
I actually once asked a Terradata consultant what the 4+ normal forms were used for. His response was "So high priced consultants can finish out their contract without actually having to do anything."
Gee, looking at SQL Server Books online and typing in "Views" I see something that says "modifying data". Reading the article I see that you CAN update a view with new data.
How is not reading an EULA any different from not reading any other contract?? Government is NOT there to protect people from their own laziness/stupidity.
As long as it is written in plain english, which is one of the provisions of this bill, there should be no problem. It is not like the person HAS to have this nifty piece of software to live.

You know... maybe we could all try and not be assholes? Just a thought.
/. where it seems to be required to be an asshole.

It was good that the EU Consitution was shot down because it had libertarian ideas??
You forgot WWI and Europe in WWII. You also forgot the Cold War (not a real way, I know)

Can you cite your source on this one, or are you just making it up?

I don't. I don't have a landline, only a cell, so I only check my voice mail when it tells me I have a message.

Since the reference was to Spiegel, German would be your best bet.

I bet they are putting this under the heading of "Inter-state Commerce" so that they can "legally" do it.
One Thing I Forgot: The people at the SGAE are not specially smart, the are real *assholes* who could let Dubya seem intelligent.
How do they even manage to breathe if this is the case?
Just out of curiousity, *HOW* would you go about arresting a leader of a 1st world nation, esp. POTUS?
