I actually remember my ICQ number as well...similar to you, I don't have any special reason to remember it. I never even used ICQ that often, but the number sticks in my head. Strange, isn't it?
It was my understanding that the classic interface in XP uses the same bitmap skinning that the "Fisher Price" one uses. I could be mistaken, of course, but I've really never seen a difference in responsiveness between the two options.
That isn't even close to the same category of question. For instance, people that give away their own money then don't have their personal fortune for their own use. There is no assumption in that statement. Perhaps a simplification, since it's likely that he uses his name to cause others to give money to his desired charities, instead. On the other hand, the wife-beating question makes the assumption that you have at some point started beating your wife and children in the first place. While an answer of "no" is technically correct, it still sounds like you're abusive. Clearly, there is a fundamental difference between these two questions.
And German is even relatively similar to English...aside from switching around word order and obeying German grammar, something can be phrased in German and English in a very similar way. It may sound clumsy in one language, but it can be understood. In comparison, a sentence translated from English to Japanese frequently uses a completely different word structure. As an example: English: I like you
German: Ich mag dich.
The English and German bo take the form of [Subject Pronoun] [verb] [Object pronoun]. An equivalent in Japanese would be "Anata ga suki desu". That breaks down as [Pronoun] [Topic marker] [na-Adjective] [Formal copula]. And that's for a very simple sentence.
It's more of a scatterplot, used so that they can talk about the skills and financial means of different pilots by referring to their theoretical "graph".

Isn't that part of the joke, since xaxa claims to share a name with an American cannabis enthusiast? It wouldn't make much sense, as a joke about mistaken identity, to talk like you're trying to contact the American guy, but to use European slang when you're doing it...
Ummm....each and every point of that is demonstrably false. My phone does bluetooth file transfers and headset connections, and I didn't pay a dime. If you have an account with a carrier, I'm reasonably certain that you can get a spare SIM for that account. My phone is unlocked. It was provided by Cingular when they were around, and it works fine on the T-Mobile network. IMEI is unique to each phone, not to each model. I receive calls for free from anywhere within the country.
I lived in Germany for three years as a child, and I noticed that was the case there. But in most parts of the US, the concept of a dedicated passing lane doesn't really exist, in practice. The left lane is just the "fast lane". It just tends to move faster than the lanes further to the right.
I've used SDL, which provides for audio, 2d graphics, controller input, network communication (I think), among other things. Basically, it's a multi-platform toolkit similar in use to DirectX....of course, I'm not claiming that it's a full feature-matched equivalent, but it's pretty useful.
Yeah, I guess I don't understand why people are pirating the game if they think it's so bad. Older CoD games are just as good as they were before, and if the new one doesn't have the features people want, why not stick with the tried and true? I think consumers are right to be upset when their desires are ignored, but for people that flat-out pirate the game, I think they're taking their anger out in the wrong way. It's just ammo for DRM advocates. Piracy just makes *you* look cheap, rather than sending the message that the game's no good. It would be more productive if people didn't buy the game. If Activision sees that no one's buying the game, and that it's not even considered a suitable target of piracy, they'll either ditch the PC or work to make it a better experience next time. If they see a lot of grog-swillers with peg-legs, Activision will be able to play the victim and blame the failure of the game on the greed of others, instead of their own ineptitude.
Limited? It's Linux. You can do anything on Ubuntu that any other Linux system could do. I rather like the repository system, and proper packaging (as opposed to the tgz archives that were used last time I was on Slack).
Installing an Ubuntu OS and configuring it for building software might take 2 hours (in my experience). After that initial investment, I find it to be a comfortable environment to operate in. In fact, that's why I moved away from Suse, Redhat, Slackware, and Gentoo. It's comfortable, easy to configure how I want, and I don't lose any of the power over how my machine operates.
When I do it, it's usually either because I can't find anywhere that sells it any more, because it's not available on Hulu any more, or because I can't be bothered to get my ass out to a store, and downloading is the quickest way to get what I want. I watch about 10 shows every week, for instance. If I were charged $1 per episode, I'd gladly pay it, as long as I got to keep a copy of the file. I mostly just want a library of things around so I can go back to recap from past episodes in a series, etc
Nope. The machine's hardware ID is blocked. I'm guessing it's kind of like the hardware signatures used for WGA validation on Windows (i.e. It's based on serial numbers in various system components or something). I also think it's the same mechanism that's used for DRM authentication on the system; media and downloaded games are locked to that console.
I was staying at my aunt's house one time, and she didn't know how the wireless worked. She was a little annoyed that I was able to break into her connection in under 10 minutes though.
I did something similar once. It was in college, and someone had brought the family computer to school, complete with r/w shared C drive. I left a shortcut in their startup folder to run notepad c:\warning.txt, telling them the problem, and either fix it themselves, or to find a geek to fix it for them. I met that person later....she was actually pretty hot. Nothing came of it though =/
I dual-boot my relatively beefy netbook, but I almost never go into Windows. Want to know why? It has a tendency to randomly wake up from sleep mode, then stay away until the battery expires a few hours later. I'm fine with Windows in general. I use XP all day at work, and I just bought Windows 7. But XP'll always be a second-class citizen on that netbook, since it won't play nice with the way I want to use that computer. Too bad, too. It's actually pretty snappy and tends to pick up the wireless MUCH faster than Linux does...
I think the choice was between dropping the nuclear weapons or staging a land invasion of Japan. The nukes were brutal, and they killed a lot of innocents. A land invasion would've torn the entire country apart and caused widespread civilian casualties and destruction of civilian infrastructure as collateral damage. It's the difference between shooting someone in the kneecaps, or dousing them in gasoline and lighting a match. Neither option is pretty, and they're to be avoided if possible...but if the other guy is coming for you, you do the thing that will stop them in their tracks.

I swear I didn't change my sig to fit into this convo....
That's Duke Nukem 3d. There was an older side-scroller called just "Duke Nukem". Good memories =)

I'm typing this on my S10-2, which has been up for a week so far. Flip the screen close, and it's asleep in under 5 seconds. Ditto for waking up.

Well, they had a The Guild panel at Blizzcon this year...I think it's just a matter of formality that they aren't using the "World of Warcraft" name.
I've only seen 4 of your posts, and they're getting annoying already. Was that the purpose of the account?

Hot dogs are often sold 10 to a pack.
