And here I was about to read that article about beginning Network Security; Thanks to the new cyber-tzar, I won't need to.. with his 'secur[ing] cyberspace' n'all
1. Why is the cable on the watch and not vice-versa? 2. Why doesn't it use a MicroUSB Connector? 3. Why doesn't it use Bluetooth instead? For that capacity, the lack of speed ain't an issue.
As most others have said; no it's not, it's the middle part of a trilogy that isn't considered in the same league as the Sprawl triology (Neuro/Count Zero/MLO).
However, I found 'Pattern Recognition' - his newest, although not exactly classic cyberpunk - to be a great read, i actually stopped reading Crypto for a week to finish PR.
To quote.. "whatya talking 'bout willis ?", I've just upgraded iTunes4 and I can still access all my MP3s via Samba from my iBook to my Windows box.
My guess is, the "3 other copies" restriction are on the AAC files you buy, not the MP3s you rip..so put down the CDs and step away from the keyboard slowly. </humor>
At first glance, the 'Piles' metaphor (as exampled here) appears to be close to what 'Clutter' attempts to do with your CD's on a OS X desktop. Perhaps it may come in for some legal attention once 10.3 is released ?
Surfing on a laptop, my hands are always near the keyboard, and Opera's use of hotkeys really speeds up browsing.
Everything is easily accesible with the keyboard (at least everything I've tried to do...)
The lawsuit stems from an agreement between Apple Corporation and Apple Records (the Beatles' label) about the use of the 'Apple' name, not the logo (although they are similar).
In the early 80's Apple Computers paid Apple Records an 'undisclosed' amount of money to use the 'Apple' name for selling computer hardware/software as their two respective industries were considered far enough apart (at that time) that their trademark wouldn't be diluted by Corps' use of it.
However, when Apple released System 7 in the late 80's, it included the ability to record and playback sound, something that Apple Records believed violated their agreement. So, in the early 90's, Apple Records successfully sued ($26 Mill) Apple Corp regarding breach of trademark.
An interesting legacy from this is the default system sound on Macs, Sosumi, originally described as the Japanese for 'the absence of all musicality', was in fact Apple sticking their virtual tongue out at Apple records (So - Sue - Me)
That's exactly the point. As I heard on the news today that Australian universities are to be sued by ARIA (Aussie version of RIAA) for allowing file-sharing across their internal networks. Why doesn't the Recording Industry wake up to the fact that their proverbial horse hasn't just bolted, it's sold up, bought a plane ticket and emigrated to the beaches of Mexico ?
Yeh, and every year the State of the Union address will be held at MacWorld where he'll announce budget figures and employment levels pacing up and down a stage with one of those boom-mics on his face, and in between announcing a speed-bump for the Powerbooks and a new version of iTunes.
This is a link from further up http://theforce.net/swtc/tpm/tpmcont.html#droids but essentially it says that nowhere does it come out that threepio *doesn't* know kenobi, just that he hides his previous knowledge of the fact.. that link actually puts alot of the discrepncies i had in my mind to rest.
ALright, real review time, I liked it ALOT (/me does the dance of the 'ahead-of-gmt-aussies'). It has all the hallmarks of episode 4 & 5, and has overcome the problems rampant in ep1.
Sure, Lucas can't write dialogue to save his life, but the story moves along and Christensen and Portman's scenes do get over the 'going to the plug-hole' romance well, and McGregor proves once again that his casting decision may have been the single best in all six episodes.
There is some kickass action, with the most jedi you'll have seen onscreen at once ever, lot's of great effects ( some amazingly brilliant (see coruscant ) some not ( Kenobi's friend in the cafe )... and then there's the Yoda fight scene for which i shall be paying my AU$13 to go and see again..
So.. where'd do i put this ? Hmm, personally, it's on par with SW4:ANH, not as good as SW5:ESB, but better the EP6:RoTJ and EP1:TPM ( it'll actually make you think differently about EP1, but doesn't change the fact that Lucas really did scare us for a while )
Have you tried fireworks? unlike photoshop, the internet output doesn't feel like an after thought, it's tight with DW and the new scripting ability in FW MX is a great feature
But seriously, i dumped PS as my #1 graphics tool for web design about year ago and haven't looked back..
/me sits back and waits for the royalty checks to roll in from macromedia...
I really don't understand this argument
XP is essentially the W2k code base, the same _basic_ functionality is there, just XP has a somewhat skinnable GUI.
Hell, I'd even argue that in many ways XP (esp Pro) is much better than win2k
This reminded me of the original script for Austin2. Now this would have attracted a little more attention..
AUSTIN POWERS 2: THE WRATH OF KHAN!
NARRATOR (VO) The producers would like to point out that this movie is in no way related to or inspired by the original Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. It shares neither characters nor setting nor action with the film of that name.
NARRATOR: As time goes by it becomes increasingly unclear why the name Wrath of Khan was chosen for this film, since it will surely provoke a costly lawsuit.
NARRATOR: Well there you have it, a copyright suit has been filed against us by the makers of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. Our counsel informs us that we are without legal recourse and therefore, the new name of this film is:
AUSTINPUSSY
NARRATOR (cont'd) We've just been notified that in order to meet the requirements for the Motion Picture Association of America's PG-13 rating, we must, once again, change the title of this film. The new, and hopefully, last title is:
Yah, you're right, sadly however it appears that the IEEE1394 connector (iLink/Firewire) is going the way of the dinosaur.

As too here in Adelaide, underwhelmed and over-charged

For the best "grasp on Azaria's real voice", get some old (mid 90's) 'Mad About You', Azaria played Nat the Buchman's neighbour (and dog-walker).
Since this is related to the RIAA, could anyone tell me why their site [riaa.org] has been down for like 3 days? That's a long time!
I'd hazard a guess at that it's the same problem plaguing the rest of the net this weekend (stupid korean kids)

>is there such thing as porn for the blind? ...
Yes and his name is Barry White
So, you're the person who bought them ;)
resisting .. urge .. to .. mod .. as .. troll ..
Macrovision was most definatly around pre-DVD.
My copy of the re-released / cleaned-up / no-additives edition of Star Wars on VHS is copy protected with Macrovision, that was 1995.
I'll give you $10 that it's already in the military

Well, #5 is a certainty, as anyone who's played 'Dark Forces' knows that as Kyle Kataran, you steal the Death Star plans..
In My Eyes.. Lucas is Forgiven for Ep1
