My largest concern is an out-of-uniform cop in an unmarked car (or not a cop car at all) drew his gun and only said "i'm a cop" - you draw a weapon without your uniform etc, and "i'm a cop" doesn't cut it. You have a badge for a reason. You have a uniform for a reason.
If you have a reason to NOT be in your uniform, you should not be acting in such a way. It wouldn't be so very hard to assume he was a road-rager coming to ventilate him. That's likely what I would have thought, and had I been armed, I would have been in serious trouble, because the dipshit wasn't wearing his uniform.
He was out of uniform and did not present his badge. He just said "I'm a cop".
What stops me from cutting someone off who pissed me off in traffic, jumping out, drawing, and saying "i'm a cop"? My sanity. That's all, and not everyone with road rage would have that.
If this had happened to me, I'd probably be going away for a very long time, because my own reaction to this would have been to draw and defend myself.
To me, it would have been better if "slide" mode was permanent (alt key). The idea behind that was that it turned off the vector management system (that was explained to automatically fire thrusters to align your vector to your "front" and to stop the ship when you removed thrust)
Most (if not all) systems simply don't have the dynamic range to allow for realistic weapon sounds If you managed to get a clean recording (I'll address that in a moment) it just won't have the power, because the amplitude will be so much lower. It's also hard to record them near-range without clipping. For the same reason you want hearing protection when using them, they arn't healthy for most recording devices (and the ones designed for it are expensive). They sound completely different from various POVs too, and ranges. It's not that easy to get them right.
... that said, just how many (and how recently) have you tried? I've -never- once, in the 10 years since I stopped touching Adobe, seen a misrendered PDF.
You think the roads in France are narrow? Try driving around Rome or Florence :)
Yes, because of all the places at a fuel station where fuel vapours collect, the exit to the road is the most concentrated...
... like a functional screensaver dialog?
... because someone acted like a teenager and got themselves a shitty credit score, I'd imagine. (or just some bad luck)
There was a lethal weapon involved. There should be no room left for mistakes. What you suggest leaves far too much of said room.
You can't unkill someone. You can, however, set up roadblocks ahead or other such standard procedure.
He didn't aim it (or even put a second hand on it) - I'll give him that, but the gun still left the holster.
Oh, so it will be perfectly fine to sue them dry in civil court instead. That's so much better.
It should not be prosecuted at all

Said cop was completely out of uniform, pulled the gun out BEFORE the badge.
That is not acceptable. "I'm a cop" doesn't fucking cut it.
You are forgiven. Loving X-Wing, TIE Fighter, or XvT and their gouraud shading absolves you of your sin :D
... but is it fun and complete out-of-the-tarball? If not, I'll pass.

Indeed. It's hard to hack a ballistic hunk of metal, or a simple IR aspect-seeker circuit :P
That wasn't vector.
Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos is pretty win.
X2: The Threat and X3: The Reunion (and X3: The Terran Conflict) are decent enough too.
That's interesting... we got some new SuperMicro machines to test to sell at work.
God help you if you try to enable the RAID controller. It won't ever boot again until you wipe the CMOS.
Perhaps SMC isn't as reliable as you might think they are.
[quote]Ahem, did you get lost ?

So... what's wrong with fiber?

If you haven't, you might want to look into ArmA2/OA. Sounds like you'd be interested.
My system doesn't even load the ads. It completely ignores them.
Yay?
No, actually - I've had hell with that. Since about 2.6.18 that stopped though.
... have no idea there is an alternative and have no idea there is a security risk involved
This is not and never will be a valid excuse for people using shit software.
