I'm just offering a possible reason, besides the ever-popular "yarrr, lets fuck the public" cynicism.

    No, it's not.

Open Source - the code is freely available for your perusal.

The source being open doesn't have anything to do with your rights (or lack of) to actually use it. Those rights are protected in the various Free Software licenses.

The Microsoft research license is an Open Source license. It is not a free software license. This is the closest thing I can think of, that I know of, to what we are looking at in the article.

I ask, also, since your scheme requires you to use your fingers to crouch and/or jump, limiting your fluidity (ie, strafing while changing stance) - also, you leave no way to lean.

My current favorite game - ARMA2 - has a hellish set of commands. Looking at the list, a given key has up to 5 different uses, depending on context! Hell, the game recognizes combinations AND the difference between hold, tap, and double-tap... but, it's fun as hell, and worth the challenge.

    Examples:
    W-hold - forward
    W,W-hold - sprint
Shift-hold: walk/run (not same as sprint)
    Shift,Shift (taps): toggle walk/run
    Right Mouse tap: optics toggle
    Right Mouse hold: zoom
Right Mouse hold (longer): hold breath

This means she doesn't want to pay the 'security deposit' that she will show up in court. Bail gets paid back to you if you do show up, if you skip town, the court keeps it.

You don't even need the cash on hand - bail bonds are basically loans tailored to this situation - which really works out well, since you get the principal back and are only out for the interest.
