That's long term exposure. Pings are very short, and not all that frequent. The exception would be weapons sonar... and I dare say I would hope they weren't dropping live munitions.
I think the real hindrance to desktop use of (anything like) the Cell/BE is the difficulty in programming for them properly. People seem to have a hard enough time wrapping their heads around threads.
Whether APT/DEB was a key component to its success is anyone's guess. More likely was the fact it was built on Debian, which is how it ended up with APT/DEB in the first place.
And I would hazard a guess that, the whole reason Debian is so stable... is because of it's policies and processes. I would say that APT/DEB has very little to do with this stability.
This is no vigilante justice. Someone noticed things that are (usually) contract terminators, notified the hosting provider, who then exercised their rights that were reserved in the contract between them and the customer.
His third time caught with verified child porn. That's not just "scary pictures", but illegal materials. That he was a repeat offender speaks of him as well.
You have Bob. Bob has a thing about catching STDs. No matter how many times he gets cleaned up, he turns around and does something stupid and gets a new one, and in turn passes them on.
Is it unethical to study his infections? The subject won't stop getting the infections, nor will he stop spreading them. However, we can use what we learn from studying the subject further on down the line.
Not quite so black and white is it? I side with the researchers. The botnet will be there either way, and if we actively destroy it a new one will be made in it's place (and possibly improved, preventing study). Might as well learn what we can from it before making a move.
What the hell are you talking about?
Sonar behaves completely different in shallow water. You can't train for that in deep water.

I fail to see any connection between your post and your parent, or with it's grandparent, all the way up the chain.
Don't hijack threads just to put yourself near the top of the screen.
You can't link to tripod images offsite, if your referral header is missing or not from the site, you get their logo instead.
The shiny, candylike button. Can he hold out!
1. Yes you did. "I have just one thing to say about that..." was in your subject.
2. Humor fail.

1. Don't use your subject field as a discussion field. Use the post body. This goes for your parent as well.
2. Don't you mean "EXCEPTION!?"

That's because child porn is the legal Easy Button, in the same way that 'think of the children' is the legislative "Easy Button.

There was no justice, only contract fulfillment.
It would also have seemingly-random words in CAPSLOCK.
It has been a long time since I laughed to tears. That was perfect.
It's a type tag: an automatic system tag. Nobody enters it.
Follow the magical link.
Well, what would happen if Chase died?
That tripe gets posted everywhere. It was new a year ago.
What's the deal with TIFF anyways? I convert that 80mb file losslessly to PNG, and it brings it down to 47mb. Almost 50%!
Yes, they fixed it. But this article is not about Hubble.
I don't see why it's impossible to make an autoclave-compatible non-magnetic-sensitive membrane keyboard.
Logic is more integral to programming then raw mathematics. Most of the scut-work in programming is "dull" and not really algorithmic.

Good. You should never enter a command you don't understand. I'm all for raising the bar above water level.
Imagine this scenario:
You have Bob. Bob has a thing about catching STDs. No matter how many times he gets cleaned up, he turns around and does something stupid and gets a new one, and in turn passes them on.
