yeah, i have a working intellivision II with about 40 games for it. it's hooked up all the time right next to my atari 2600 (wood grain), my commodore vic-20, and my n64. old school games rock. emus are alright, but there's nothing like the real thing.
ok, on the convenience issue, i'll agree with you, yeah it would be nice to have dvd and a gaming console combined. i hear the psx dvd is pretty decent, that's decent, not great. my reason for upgrading to DVD is for quality, i don't mind spending a few more hundred bucks to get both. The nCube will be $150-200, so you could get a dvd player and the ncube for about $350. that's about the price of the psx2 anyway. hell, i've seen dvd players as low as $149. you take the combo, i'll buy 'em separately.
big deal. this is a gaming console, not a DVD player. If you want to watch DVD movies, buy a damn DVD player. Besides, the DVD playback on consoles will be crap compared to DVD players. and don't complain that you'll have to buy 2 devices, a decent DVD player costs about $250.
i tell ya, the N-Cube sounds WAY better than the dolphin. true the "dolphin" was just the working title of the new nintendo box. can't wait till this thing is out!
the article brings out that mp3.com has set aside $150 million just for legal settlements earlier this year. i think they have more money than most people think.
yeah, that's info i'd like to see also. with my first palm device, the 3x, the battery would easily last 3 weeks, or more. with my new vii, they average just over 2 weeks. battery life is a big concern for me. the ipaq uses LiOn batteries that last 12 hours, which are rechargable. that doesn't seem long at all, but it's a pocketpc, not a palm device, and 12 hours is twice as long as any laptops on the market, AFAIK.
it's great to see yet another alternative to the palm. it looks as though it has decent apps, and a great starting price tag, plus it looks cool. although wireless internet is something this device lacks. oh well, guess i'm stuck w/ my Palm VII for now (which isnt' TRUE wireless internet either, but good enough for me, for now).
man, i tell ya, i've been waiting for Nvidia to destroy the competition since the days of the TNT. now, with their releasing of a new chip every few weeks (at least so it seems) they are really burying their competitors. now we just have to wait until they release these new detonator 3 drivers for linux. hey, a guy can dream...:)
i can't get to www.techpages.com, nutscrape and mozilla crash on trying to pull up the page. can someone please post a direct URL to the download, either on techpages.com or another site? much appreciated, thanks in advance.
"Looks like Microsoft may finally have some competition for the optical IntelliMouse."
i'm sorry, but the intellicrap is the worst mouse i've ever seen. it's a great concept and all, but it doesn't work very well. on all 3 boxes i have used one on, it jumps around the screen every once in a while, very annoying. also, when you rev it really fast, it can't seem to keep up, not ideal for gaming. just my $.02
Why is there SOOO much stink about gnome? Is there more money behind it than there is behind KDE? IMHO, it's slower and not as uniform as KDE. KDE will be the desktop for the masses. I also believe that the 2 should unite and make 1 standard desktop (or is this wishful thinking?), thereby making the transition from winblows to linux, much more seamless for the masses. Does the Gnome team work with the KDE team at all? share ideas? steal code?:) Thanks in advance.
i guess i could have chilled out and not made an issue of it, it's just one of my pet peeves, alright? i mean, if he was talking to me and said it, i probably wouldn't have noticed, but since we read things on the web, we notice grammatical errors more, as our brains (at least mine) is functioning more when i read than when i listen. enough said.
note to self: don't bust on Taco's bad english from this day onward.
What do will it mean, and how will it effect all of us?
hey rob, why don't you go back to the 6th grade and learn proper sentence structure. i swear, a news service and the editors can't even "speak" in correct sentences.
i just want to know, what EXACTLY does Andover.net do, besides buying up linux-related web sites? Are they simply buying them up to give them more sites to sell their advertising to? what gives? a co-worker of mine has suggested they change their name to HandOver.net, much more applicable to their business practices.
man, i had forgotten about that game, it did rock. remember the first of the series "Mean Streets"? that was the first game i played that talked, sure it used the PC speaker, but it was way ahead of it's time. ahh...retro-gaming.

i, uhm, er, need to learn how to spell i guess. my post SHOULD have read:
"that's right, when can we expect the trilogy to be released on dvd? i'd much rather prefer them over episode 1, but then again, this is a start."
