    Of the 10 or so SATA HW RAID controllers I've purchased, at least 5 of them have failed on me. I will not trust another LSI Logic (megaraid) or 3Ware controller, ever again. A quick reboot to swap in/out a new/broken drive is far more preferable to me than the headache of a flaky HW RAID controller.

    If you're not spending more than $1,500 USD on a HW RAID controller, cross your fucking fingers :)

    Considering OS 9 and earlier are completely deprecated, and OS X is only a few years old, just how fucking much of an investment can that possibly be?

    Another flashpoint? What the fuck is that supposed to mean? When is the last time the U.S. was involved in a serious conflict that wasn't of our own making? It's been a long time my friend.

    Don't you mean, rather, "If the current U.S. regime decides to invade another country on false pretense?" Or, "If the U.S. has to clean up another mess of it's own making?" Or, "If the president's approval rating drops too low?"

    The American people have a right to know WHY we need to spend more on our military than most of the rest of the world combined, and I'm afraid that if we really knew the truth, we wouldn't like it one bit. Yes, in fact I'm quite certain.

    We are only reaping what we have sewn in the violence perpetrated against us. The American public is paying the price for the "leadership" we have chosen.

    With the level of animosity towards SCO, their lack of support anywhere these days, and absolutely pathetic product lineup, I can't imagine many developers being interested in this. So, I figure I'd have a pretty good shot at that Bimmer or the $100k... which would be sweet. But, frankly, I'd be plain fucking scared to have any sort of relationship with SCO, period. I, personally, wouldn't risk it.

    Then there's the problem of ethics, which would also end up preventing me from participating in this.

    Yeah... Just die already SCO.

    It would certainly be a huge boon for users using Linux-raid. I switched to using Linux' built-in software raid after having had far too many hardware raid controllers fail. I'm sure more expensive controllers are probably still reliable(ie., $1,000+ SCSI controllers), but these $400-$600 SATA HW Raid controllers are absolute junk.

    Look buddy, In my original response, I only wanted to turn things around on you so you could do a little introspection. "Just fucking help me." That quote right there I think is the most telling thing here. The people you are asking for help don't owe you anything, and you're saying, "Just fucking help me."

    All I did was use your own words against you and I got myself marked a foe for it. And that doesn't strike you as a hint that maybe you too have an attitude problem? Can you not have an argument with someone without writing them off for good(or whatever it is marking some a foe means to you)?

    I know shit gets frustrating. I've been there. I've pissed people off while trying to get help. But try not to get bent out of shape when people get pissy with you. You're probably being an asshole too. Judging from your original post, I'd bet on it.

    Personally, I've never had these problems you are describing, and I've been using Linux and Linux support forums for over 10 years. But, right, I'm sure people like me are the problem, not people like you who are the ones foaming at the mouth on /.
