  1. you're an asshole on Pricing For Retro Games on the Wii · · Score: 1
You're an asshole. You have completely twisted what I said as an attack. It was not. It was an honest observation. If it offends you, well, get a life.

And for the rest of your post... Whatever. I've read impressions from people who've actually had their hands on the stuff at E3, and it's not all roses. It works for some games, not so much for others. And it is not the oh-so-incredibly intuitive input that you silly fanboys think it is.

What you don't get is, I am not juding it. There is far too little to go on at this point. It all still remains to be seen.

But go ahead, pledge your hard earned money to Nintendo so far in advance. That makes perfect sense. Personally, I will wait, probably until I can try it out for myself. I guess that is nonsensical in the reality-distortion field you fanboys seem to live in.

There's a local store here with a huge bin of old games for under $5 each. NES, SNES, and Genesis games.

And actually, much less manpower went into those old games than newer games. And they certainly cost a lot less to make originally. And they've already recouped their dev costs over a decade ago.

But you go right ahead and spend your money, it doesn't bother me.

What titles, precisely, have you so excited at this point in time? Zelda? By all accounts I've read, it plays better with a "traditional" dual analog stick controller. Maybe that'll improve. Maybe not? But it's rightfully a GC game, I'm not getting a Wii for that.

I just don't get it. What has got people SO FUCKING excited about Nintendo right now? They've got some neat, new ideas, but can you honestly say they've proven them at this point? Different doesn't make it good. Novelty doesn't last long, so after it wears off, there had better be some goddamn substance.

Frankly, I am not excited about any of the big 3 this time around. Sony's console is too expensive. Nintendo's is too *underpowered. Microsoft's has the blandest games... Seriously.

As someone who is only interested in the games, I will not say at this point which of these silly company's I will be "giving" my money to. That's just... stupid, IMO.

    * The first person who derides raw horsepower and graphical capability gets a punch in the groin. We know already, it's not all about graphics...

$5 for a few hundred K for a 10 - 15 year old game? You can buy the original cartriges these days cheaper than that. For that matter, you can download the whole NES and SNES libraries in just a few minutes with a reasonable connection; they're that small.

Note, however, that it looks like there will be plenty of free 1st party games, which really changes the overall picture, IMO.

All this new harddrive tech is cool and all, but what I want more than anything else, including more and more massive storage, is better reliability.

In the past year or so, I've had, literally, 50% of all drives I have purchased fail. Mostly Western Digitals, FWIW.

For that matter, I've had several expensive raid controllers fail too. This shit is really starting to piss me off.

Seriously, my home stereo IS a computer. Using a proprietary player is not an option; that would be like using a CD changer except for a handful of CDs that requie their own proprietary player, which you have to plug into your stereo whenever you want to listen to them.

My solution is to only listen to music that is available in usable formats. That basically means MP3 and _real_ CD audio. Funny thing is, now that I don't pirate any music, I am also buying less music, simply because it's that much harder to get into new stuff. In fact, I only buy new music when I have a chance to listen to what my friends who still pirate music are listening to.

Yeah, all those dead Kurds with chemical burns had nothing to do with it.

We supported Iraq during those times. In fact, read some of the other responses for some realy shockers.

So who do you belive? The intelligence or the people that say the intelligence was wrong. Do you wait around to see who is right?

The very sources of the intelligence themselves recanted their reports shortly after delivering them, and long before the war. Bush and Blair decided to keep that quiet.

More importantly, noone seriously considered Iraq to be a threat AT ALL after Iraq cooperated with the inspections. The country was open to inspection.

The U.S. was the AGGRESSOR Goddamnit, and "we" were WRONG. Nothing else should even fucking matter at this point. I suspect a lot of shady looking people in big cities might rob me, but I don't preemptively attack them!

Your ad hominem about my wife is completely ridiculous. Bill Clinton is a bastard, but he's not a fucking rapist by any fucking stretch of the imagination. That's really fucking disengenuous of you to use as an example. But that's par for the course with Bush defenders.

Seriously, christ man, you could have used the same situation with Clinton regarding my wife, but you probably realized that being a horny bastard just isn't going to be a serious enough offense, even directed at my wife. That's pretty low.

  10. YOU are a liar on Keeping an Eye on Government Snooping · · Score: 5, Insightful

YOU are a liar for spewing that nonsense just now. Bush and Blair both knew that the intelligence was inaccurate, their very sources said so and said not to base any action on that intelligence. Not everyone knew how faulty the intelligence was. The rest of the world didn't get the whole story. The only reason anyone thought there was actually WMDs in Iraq was because the Bush administration and Tony Blair lied about the intelligence.

Now, Bill Clinton certainly did lie under oath. However, he lied under oath about what he was doing with his penis in private -- something a lot of douchebag conservatives would probably lie about, even under oath. And when he lied, noone died. QED.

Now FOAD, you disengenous piece of shit.

  18. re: manage credit (I'll sign in for this) on IL School District to Monitor Student Blogs · · Score: 1
The reason why public schools do not teach kids about managing credit is because of lobbying against it. There have been plenty of educators and politicians who have tried to put together programs for teaching about credit, and almost all of them have been blocked by the industry.

There was a really good program that ran recently, I think this is it. Good, you can wath the whole thing online. I don't remeber if that program goes into it, but IIRC it does. It's a great program regardless.

I work in the industry, BTW -- not for a credit card pushe^Wissuer. Frankly, I don't understand why the industry is so hellbent on keeping the public ignorant. Credit cards are a useful tool, and with proper education and responsible business practices, the industry would remain very stable and plenty lucrative enough. Pushing consumers into more and more debt is eventually going to cause an industry implosion, or heavy-handed legislation. The amount of consumer debt in the U.S. is just astronomical, and quite frankly, becoming very scary.

So, yeah, there you have it. Public education is beholden to corporate interests these days. Snuffing GOOD programs that would teach kids about responsible credit management, MPAA/RIAA sponsored anti-piracy propoganda programs, etc.
