Haha, why not? They are guilty of treason, tyranny, corruption... Spies get put to death, and these people are far more damaging to our country than most spies. Furthermore, our public officials should be held to much higher standards than citizens.
No, I don't really think killing them would be just, but given that citizens who betray this country are often sentenced to death, I say, "String em up!"
Seriously, some fucking heads need to roll for this sort of thing.
To be perfectly honest, I really haven't been paying enough attention to politics lately.
All I know about Kerry is that he appears to be more "intelligent" than Bush when he's jabbering on TV, ie. he's more articulate, but I don't know what he stands for.
I don't mean to pick on you, specifically, but since you stated, "Kerry's no prize," could you tell me why that is?
I don't particularly like the Democratic party, but neither do I like the Republican party. I would toss out another protest vote, but at this point I have come to the conclusion that Bush has been terrible for this country, and unless his oponent is actually worse, I plan to vote for "anyone but him" this year.
Wow, so there is indeed a version of Windows combined with a version of Office which doesn't require a reboot after installation of Office. Woopdie fucking do, dumfuck, that's not the case with most Windows + Office version combinations.
Now piss off, you insufferable dolt.
Next time, research a little before you insult some stranger you've never met.
I've dealt with you enough online to know that IRL I wouldn't tolerate you for a second before putting my fist through your face. That's a special privelege I reserve only for seriously brain-damaged assholes. Another dubious award for you.
When you move out of your parents house, let me know where to pay my visit so I can honour you with your award.
All I can say is that you haven't read a lot of IBM's legal documents, and you haven't payed enough attention to what the media picks up about the case. The media has cited slashdot a number of times, and a number of times bits of information were first broken in actual slashdot comments.
Lastly, your sig is a sure sign of your own ignorance. I'm going to walk out on a limb and assume you do not use Linux much, if at all, and are in fact intimidated by the prospect of learning something new, ie. learning about *nix, hence your defensiveness with regards to your own sig. Your sig is a ridiculous blanket statement that bears absolutely no resemblence to the facts, those facts being that many large companies are adopting Linux and are in no way influenced by the more juvenile Linux proponents. The real influence is by companies like RedHat, IBM, HP, etc.
You don't like the SCO stories, fucking piss off then.
You are the biggest fucking retard on slashdot these days, congratulations. I know, it's a rather dubious award, but I think you should be proud.
No, you do in fact need to reboot windows when you install Office. Perhaps there are some cases where it's not necessary, but in my experience it always is.
Perhaps you should learn a little about your own OS of choice, instead of sitting on/. all the time insulting people for using Linux.
Seriously, why the fuck do you even read/.? Why don't you just piss off. At least stop trolling on the Linux stories...
You are an incredible idiot. The constant rebuttals on Slashdot and Groklaw(especially Groklaw) are occasionally picked up by the media, which is the only reason anyone at all knows that SCO is full of shit. Without which, SCO's share price would likely be higher, their execs a little richer, and fewer eyes digging up dirt on SCO.
You have read some of IBM's arguments, no? A lot of it looks like it came right off Slashdot, just presented more professionally.
Maybe you want people to shut up so SCO has a better chance? Do you own SCO shares?
Basically this is a very creative spin on a settlement CA did with Canopy Group regarding a breach of contract settlement totally unrelated to Linux. Associated with that settlement was a set of UnixWare licenses to which SCO has taken the liberty of attaching these 'Linux IP' licenses."
That sounds like pretty good ammo for a fraud suit if you ask me. It's not in itself enough, but it certainly shows SCO in a lie that's so obvious and deceitful that it just can't be ignored or chalked up to misunderstanding, and it's not too technical for a *moron(ie. a U.S. judge) to understand.
* no, I don't really think all U.S. judges are morons, but sometimes you gotta wonder...
Exactly. And, what's more, not only will there (eventually *grin*) be a perl 5 that targets Parrot, Parrot has a JIT, meaning Perl 5 on top of Parrot should be faster than the current perl 5.
And BTW, the Parrot project is coming along pretty nicely. It still has a ways to go before it's feature complete and where they want it, but it's already a very useful VM, ie. people are already doing some cool things with it, eg. there is initial support for several languages at this point.
Parrot is not vaporware, you can download it and play with it today.
Sure, it'll be a little while before it's ready for production use, but people brushing it aside are doing themselves a serious disservice.
Where oh where do you get that? Perl 5 is a live and well, and has seen quite a large boost in support and development in the last several years. Right on the heels of the overdue perl 5.8, we've got 5.10 coming down the pike(still a ways off).
There have been nice improvements in the perl 5 core, stable threading support, more useful core modules, major updates for unicode support, etc.
To be fair to the Jewish population of Israel, there are quite a number of world interests that would like nothing more than to see the anihilation of the Jewish people.
Now that said, I do still agree with you, even with regards to Israel. I didn't always feel that way, but the more incursions into Palestinian territory and creation of Jewish settlements in said territory I have read about, the less sympathy I have for the Israeli government. The people, OTOH, both Palestinian and Jewish...
Sorry for straying OT.
It does indeed appear to be the U.S. dictating economic policy around the world. Shouldn't the EU recognize this and take action? I really wish it would, because that would force the U.S. to reassess it's own policy, maybe, and even as a U.S. citizen, that would be greatly beneficial to me. Frankly, I think 90% of our politicians could be charged with treason for putting their special interests ahead of the interest of the country.
Althought SCOX is manipulating their stock price in other ways(with trading between their own companies...).
After reading Jim Greer's post on Groklaw, it's pretty clear that SCO does NOT have a chance of winning this lawsuit, and is opening itself up to what would probably be an easy-to-win countersuit.
Jesus Christ on a fucking broken Crutch, STFU already. "But what if they stop developing," "what if it forks," "which fork do I follow," "but what if this," "what if that," WHAT IF I DRIVE A METAL SPIKE THROUGH YOUR FUCKING BRAINS?!?!
*Cough* Ahem... What I mean is, this has happened before and it will happen again and is nothing to be too concerned about. There can be brief periods of pain, but it's generally not too bad.
Cheers.

The tiny company I work for has had this happen several times over the past several years(3 times in under 7 years IIRC).
One program is a mass-emailing program which we use to send newsletters to our subscribers(yes, real paying subscribers, not spam:), which we bought because it had support for the databases we use. The other was a mass-faxing software/service, and the last was a subscription... thingymabob(never came in contact with that one myself, and it was 6 years ago).
All three of the above mentioned products were discontinued and caused us much trouble, one even being a program which expired after a certain period.
I am a big free software advocate, but I don't have to do any advocacy at my work, other than pointing out software that meets our needs. I have mostly been able to let the advantages of free software speak for itself.
SCO distributes NMap. NMap is licensed under the GPL. SCO has stated it does not accept the GPL license. Not accepting the license prevents you from being allowed to distribute a GPLed work. SCO certainly is violating the GPL with regards to NMap, and any other GPL software they distribute.
SCO has revoked it's own rights under the GPL by not accepting the GPL. The language in the GPL that states that you must accept the GPL to be allowed to distribute GPLed products is pretty clear.
The patent system has some issues, but mainly the issues are more with the way that corporations are abusing it.
Pardon me, but that is patently ridiculous!
Since our patent system is so broken that it has turned into a weapon for companies to extort money from one another, I think it is the patent system that is at fault first and foremost. Anything that can legally be abused so easily to make a profit, _will_ be abused.
The patent system doesn't just have "some issues," it has serious fundamental flaws in it's current state. Unfortuneately, the whole world appears to be ready to adopt such a system, so patent reform is probably several generations away, at the least.
Your verb tenses are all over the place. Please try to fix this in the future.
Incorrect. My verb tenses were all used in a correct manner and as I intended.
(Incidentally, I'll refrain from quoting that which looks like it may have been thesaurus abuse.)
I have not looked in a thesaurus in years. That you would assume I used a thesaurus to form my response demonstrates your own poor vocabulary, or so it would seem.
That you have shifted this discussion from the original matter to my use of the English language is baffling, considering your apparent poor reading comprehension skills. I suppose that fact is also telling about your arguing abilities. See also "staw man."
Seriously, the gaming industry doesn't need Hollywood asshats to fuck up more games than are already fucked up by movie-licensing and the like. The best games have absolutely no Hollywood contributed components.
I'm not against famous actors lending their voices to games, quite the contrary, but they should stop at that, IMHO.
OTOH, a lot of games have such horrible writing that they make Hollywood look good, heh.

You mean the only reply that didn't insult you? Aren't you full of yourself.
A dubious award, perhaps, but yours nonetheless.

Don't ever write "PERL" in correspondence with a diehard Perl programmer.
Only perl can parse Perl.
Where oh where do you get that? Perl 5 is a live and well, and has seen quite a large boost in support and development in the last several years. Right on the heels of the overdue perl 5.8, we've got 5.10 coming down the pike(still a ways off).

Then there's POE (poe.perl.org), and other stuff.
Perl 5 is far from being "end-of-life'd".

Hehe :)
FWIW, there are still plenty of people using a 2.0 series kernel...
And second, updating Linux (or ANY nix) isn't anything close to the equiv of upgrading an MS OS.
Burn karma burn...
