Am I the only one who thinks it is rude and inappropriate for Microsoft to attend when they have no interest in supporting Linux, and in fact their reason for attending is to push their own products that have absolutely nothing to do with Linux?
I went to a Linux show recently where MS was attending, and there was a rather negative atmosphere surrounding the MS booth. They really had no interest in anything but telling anyone who would listen that their products were better.
Hmmm... That's interesting, but entirely wrong. Windows will never be as portable as Unix. Windows will run on whatever Microsoft decides to support. Unix runs on everything..NET will run on whatever people write a CLR for, but.NET is not the whole of Windows. Windows apps will only run on Windows, and will have to be ported to other.NET systems that don't support all of Windows' features.
Great, now I want to see this film, but I can't get it here in the states, and if I imported it, I couldn't play it anyway...
Err... Wait, I didn't mean that. Of course I don't want to watch this film that wasn't meant for my region. I would never question the wisdom of the corporate masters. The corporate masters know all!
I picked up "I am Legend" a couple years ago when I saw it in the bookstore. The guy at the counter told me what it was about, and I just had to read it.
Yes, it was a wonderful book. It's also good to see where the inspiration for a lot of current zombie flicks/games comes from.
I think "I am Legend" would make a great film just directly translating the book to a movie.
Why would that be the case? They can harness the energy provided by the sun to propel them away, and use gravity to bring them back, eg. by "slingshotting" around a planet, moon, etc.
I use multiple desktops so I can quickly switch between completely different tasks(eg. programming / graphic design). I may have 5 windows open for one task and 5 for another, so I keep them on separate desktops. Expose would not be a suitable replacement for that.
OTOH, don't get me wrong, Expose looks very, very nice, and would be very useful to me I think. I wish I had Expose for GNOME:)
If I were to generalize as you just did, I would say that all BSD users are arrogant pricks who think they're 133t. But I do no such thing. I simply use what suits me and don't complain about other people, until THEY step on MY toes, as you have just done, you arrogant prick.
I use Linux because 6 or 7 years ago I wanted to learn about *nix. I saw a RedHat box at babbages and bought it. Since then I have learned enough about Linux to put together my own distro. I considered doing just that, but then I smelled the coffee and realized the world does not need yet another Linux distro, and Debian and Gentoo are already doing a great job, IMO.
I have also used BSD, which is IMO inferior to Linux as a workstation. The userland tools that come with BSD aren't as nice as all the GNU tools I know and love. Linux also supports a lot more hardware, for both servers and workstations.
These days I do all my work in *nix - mostly Linux, sometimes BSD, and rarely OS X.
Do I hate Windows. You bet. Is that why I use Linux? Hell no; I use Linux because it's what gets the job done for me. My second choice would be OS X, then BSD.
My use of Linux has nothing to do with Windows. Coincidentally, I do not like Windows.
$500 per month, after doing several years in jail... There's absolutely no way. After doing his time, he's probably going to be basically unemployable.
So what's he going to do? Perhaps one of the following...
1. Leave the country
2. Commit suicide
3. Go after the judge, lawyers, business execs, and attempt to kill them
4. Get a really high paying job and pay the $500 every month... yeah, right...
I really hope he gets a reduced sentence on appeal, otherwise this will end badly.
Ok, you may very well be correct; I think you are anyway. However, the court may not see it that way. AFAIK, releasing the exploit would probably be a violation of the DMCA, and you know how that is...
Furthermore, sometimes the shoe fits...

I don't understand, what are they trying to do?

Either you are lying, or you are the most ignorant person in the world. Either way, you're an idiot.
Heh, I think I'm just going to receive negative mod points :) It's not like like I was abusing my +1 bonus... moderators...
It's "to spite one's face", not despite.
Personally, I like Enterprise. I also think Next Generation was a good series, mostly due to Patrick Stewart.
Voyager did suck horribly though, which I think still attributes greatly to the lack of interest in Trek these days.

No specs also means that you have no guarantee that your broken html will still render how you want in the next version of the browser!
In the past I was often "bitten" by newer versions of IE recognizing mistakes in my HTML, or the reverse ie. actually rendering to specs.
What I'm saying is, IE si teh suxXors!

If you seriously believe that the Democrats wouldn't do the same, you need to wake up and smell the fucking coffee.
Stop the partisanship and recognize that both parties have serious issues.
