too late! In an exemplary case of patent-office oversight, I've already obtained a patent for the mere ABILITY to smell. The government has been keeping me busy for years, paying me vast sums of your taxes just so I don't sue you. They were going to kill me bug I had a patent on murder that's since expired.
I had preordered and have now read this book. It was an excellent launch pad for me and serves as a handy manual for when I can't get something quickly from google. PHP ended up being pretty easy for me, and has helped me start learning C because of similar syntax.
I only read the first few PHP chapters and the first few MySQL chapters, I've gotten the rest of what I know from the web, but that's just how i learn.
I don't want anything I use to be "smart" or smarter than me, or approaching as smart as me. I don't want a smart computer, I want a dumbass one that I can manipulate. I don't want a smart car, I want a dumbass one I can manipulate.
How freaking hard is it to learn to drive yourself anyways?
I like the internet how it is.
Countries laws still apply to their own citizens, but we can share without any real "rules". If I want to send some movies to my friends in Russia, I can. If that's illegal for all UN member nations, then a lot of freedom is taken from the internet.
Maybe I'll move to the Vatican... [only non-un member nation].
downloading makes sense. in fact, the providers of these albums should make the songs available on their websites (i mean the whole thing not a 32k clip). I never added to this list but I've paid foreign record companies about $500 for music due to p2p. nothing to american labels because I figure since I still share after I download (so others can try it too), one day they'll sue me and I'll end up paying. not.:-D
I'm a proud Yoperator (yoper user hehe.) I like it plenty, and it is faster than mandrake and debian on my computer. I've never tried gentoo nor do I want to simply because compiling everything seems beyond useless, it's why we invented binary code. If a program runs faster than a human can perceive, does that program really run faster at all?
It's quite obvious that they have reached the end of the universe and the unforseen forces of God are holding them back so they don't go past the end and force it to collapse into itself.
I think that mixy1plik is on to something... just smoke around the computer and the odor will morph into a wonderful aroma of roasted tobaccos in no time!
I like the idea of a.xxx domain. Live with it, people, more people don't want their kids looking at porn than they do playing games or reading the news. A.xxx domain could be stopped server (ISP) or client-side and if mandated, would do nothing to HURT the porn industry, just identify pages.
Schools aren't mandated to have.edu domains, but does anyone see them complaining? NO! because it's an identifier. Same with the new.md and.pro, and a lot of people like domains from their own countries.
yes.. isn't that supposed to be the "next internet"?
The concept of the internet needs no changes. Free flow of data, internationally regardless of content. If the content is illegal or irritating, then stop it at the door. If you stop it at the source you can also stop legitimate uses for content.

goatse is dead. They have a new domain at... ahem. Goat.cx.
Great, now Im one of those people who links to goatse on slashdot.
Schools are not designed not to teach, kids are designed, or molded not to learn.
Today was my first day of school as a junior. I have a civics class and to get an idea the teacher held up a picture of george bush and said: who's this.
80% of the class said bush and ~20% said the president.
Then Cheny, only about 20% knew this one, and I answered cheny.
Then kerry/edwards. Some said howard dean, someone said "didn't he drop out so that cheny you just held up could run?" and only a few knew who edwards was.
Nobody had heard of the swiftboat/kerry/vietnam contreversy or the bush/national guard contreversy except me and my brother, out of a class of about 20.
Kids today are too preoccupied with music and friends and being "cool" to care. Listen I'm one cool cat;-) and I am plenty aware of the events going on in the world.
My cisco systems networking, British English 12 and Precalculus classes are going to be HARD. Kids just decide to play dumb and take geometry junior year, rather than work hard, push themselves and move faster.
It's pathetic and I blame the media and these hippy parents.
what do you mean? I downloaded a trial version of dreamweaver and used a keygen and it worked. Of course I uninstalled it because I have superior software. Called notepad2. I did the same thing to photoshop but there was really no superior product, just... im not a graphics man.
the dell commercial isnt telling enough.
my laptop was actually taken apart by my roommate and his gang (friends not an actual gang). they somehow opened it up, unplugged the hard drive and put it back together as a joke. too bad for them they broke my mouse while they were in there and i ended up having to send it back for a new one.
and that was in the first month.
Why does MS need to have their own file system anyways? Obviously porting windows to other file systems isn't an issue with Longhorn, why not go open? Use something fast like Reiser4? That would also foster more compatibility in a server environment.
it would have a control panel, and every app would have to register with it, so it's all central (of course they can link to their part of it from tools>options or whatever.
There would be one toolkit, so everything would always look the same.
there would be a quicklaunch menu like on windows, where the overflow becomes a menu.
There would be good support for hotkeys, drag and drop, and an overall common look and feel.
I think windows comes closest to this, but the lack of the ability to theme explorer without hacks sucks, and of course it's windows.
I wish someone would write an explorer clone for linux.
evewy buddy be vewy vewy kwiet. were opening wetail stowes.
what wars? I haven't head a peep out of MS. I still use opera as I have since version 7 anyways.

I didn't read the article I'm too jittery from the caffeine.

sender ID still sounds a lot like PGP to me. why not just use that?
Damn HTML formatting and optional preview button. There used to be breaks in that.

blogger has unlimited space. not for images but text. so why do you need some weird gmail blog that nobody wants to use?

if you're worried, SSH/telnet onto your webserver and tar -cfr * then get the file via FTP or HTTP... Mine was only 10MB :-O
