I implemented a document sharing system using Bad Blue on my previous project, and it was pretty successful.
You keep the files as they are, and Bad Blue automatically indexes them for full text searching (supports Word, Excel and Access) and also has web listings of the files, in a portal like format.
And best of all, it's not free!
Another siimilar alternative is to use the content indexing with Microsoft Windows Server, which has more support for different file types (pdf, ppt, etc.). In conjunction with IIS, it allows you to do full text searches on the files. It's fiddly to set up though.
My previous project used JUnit very successfully, and had it integrated into their nightly build process. At the end of each day, all the developers checked in their modules and found out via the regression test reports the next morning, whether their changes caused someone else's module to blow up!:D
I managed to fool most of my digital photography forums users into believing that my site had been bought out by a German site.:D
What worked in my favour was that I pulled the prank at 12:01 Australian time which is GMT+10, so most people didn't know what hit them as it was still March 31st where they were.:D
Ryze is supposed to be a business networking community based on the FOAF concept. I've had limited success promoting my digital photograpy forums there.
So for the next blockbuster, you could get Joe Bloggs off the street use him in filming, and then paste Tom Cruise's face on! That would certainly save on the budget...:D
So will actors/actresses now have copyrights for their faces?
Caching html from websites is one thing, but hosting large multimedia files for life is orders of magnitude more costly, and a totally different ballgame.
On my previous project, the scheduler used to play solitaire openly - no alt tabbing or anything. Even when the boss walked past. He used to be the butt of many a joke... Well he was a contractor, and was given the boot pronto.:D
"The other problem I see with this is that there are TWO companies making a fuss about it - so which one owns the LCD patent for real?"
Simple, just getteth a sword and attempt to cleave the living patent in twine, giving half to one and half to the other. The real mother should rush forward and quoth "Give the patent to the other woman, but by no means kill it".
I used to use bbclone on my site and it was awesome - lots of useful information. But it kept breaking for some reason with some obscure error. And pretty frequently too - maybe once a week...
The stats file would be partially written to and I would have to delete/reset all my historical stats to fix it.
Maybe it's a problem with my web host provider... but oh well, I now use webalizer with the raw access logs. I do miss bbclone though..
Well since you're moving up the food chain, I think it's appropriate that you learn to decipher the management speak, so to say...:D
Management Speak: You needed to be more proactive.
Translation: You should have protected me from myself.
Management Speak: I'd like your buy-in on this.
Translation: I want someone else to blame when this thing bombs.
Management Speak: We want you to be the executive champion of this project.
Translation: I want to be able to blame you for my mistakes.
Management Speak: We need to syndicate this decision.
Translation: We need to spread the blame if it backfires.
Management Speak: We have to put on our marketing hats.
Translation: We have to put ethics aside.
Management Speak: I see you involved your peers in developing your proposal.
Translation: One person couldn't possibly come up with something this stupid.
Management Speak: There are larger issues at stake.
Translation: I've made up my mind so don't bother me with the facts.
Management Speak: I'll never lie to you.
Translation: The truth will change frequently.
Management Speak: Our business is going through a paradigm shift.
Translation: We have no idea what we've been doing, but in the future we shall do something completely different.
Come on. Stop scrooging and get a HP Storageworks Optical Jukebox. You know you want to... :D
Two words... Robot Wars!!!
Forget Windows Mobile and Palm... what you need is PSP. Productivity to the max! :D

Gosh I'm evil... :D
C'mon... stop being so logical. You're scaring me! :D

Clam AV seems to be the biggest one out there, but if you're using POP3, P3Scan is worth a try...
Caching html from websites is one thing, but hosting large multimedia files for life is orders of magnitude more costly, and a totally different ballgame.
So, will they ever get out of beta stage? :D
Ok everyone, get back to hacking into the FBI intranet... :D
Comb the desert! Lol... :D

How do one come up with a figure like that about something one doesn't know? :D
If I need to find which attribute values go with which tag, I just Google.
***POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT***

Bon Voyage Vonage... Bon Vonage... Bomb Vonage... Ooops :D
So far, I've gotten them to agree to give me 1200 bucks store credit, which is still 500 bucks shy of the purchase price.
If you don't mind me aski, what reasons were they giving to avoid paying you the full amount?
OMG - A 7 foot Robosapien!
I think a reverse camera linked up the LCD would be great for parking as well...
