It seems that the current trend by Apple fanboys is to claim that Apple engineers are completely incompetent. Not long ago, it was the claim that Apple engineers were too incompetent to fit a microSD and battery door in an iPod sized device, while basement budget Emprex could fit them in a device half the iPod's size. Obviously this not extends to the iPad. At 50x the size, the Apple fanboys must still believe the Apple engineers are even too incompetent to fit them in that huge device.

Now, we get an article claiming that Apple engineers are so incompetent that it would be IMPOSSIBLE for them to accomplish a task that has been widely available in a child's toy for over half a decade.

    A) The problem is that the previous poster claimed that the iPhone is $99 compared to the knock off's $120. That is simply untrue. Even using your math that puts the iPhone at $340, the knock off is still dramatically cheaper. The previous poster was trying claim that the iPhone was cheaper. Using discount example, it only takes 1 year for the TCO on the unsubsidized phone to become less than the iPhone. Of course the $599 price ticket on the iPhone is total BS. Since you cannot buy one unsubsidized, any number that is put out there is simply for marketing purposes.

Either way, the fact that someone claimed an iPhone was cheaper than a $120 unsubsidized phone shows that people cannot count, and as long as people cannot count, and are easily confused by the subsidized price, you will always see the subsidies.

No, kidding. I don't want to be on the phone with someone who cannot stop watching their video for two minutes anyway. Honestly, the fact that the projector and the phone are integrated would work out well. In the same way that a phone and an MP3 play work out well. When a call comes in, I don't have to pause the music. It pauses for me. Then when I hang up, the music starts back up. This is a good thing, not a problem. Slightly off topic, but also cool is that a program on my Android phone will pause movies on my XBMC box when a call comes in. So, if I have a movie playing while I work, and someone from the office calls me, I don't have to fiddle with the remote to get the video to pause before I answer.

You don't need to buy 'fake' stickers. There are plenty of stickers that don't have a specific companies name on them. This is because security systems are not generally made by the monitoring company. Companies like Brinks probably don't want you to realize that they just buy off the shelf equipment and then sell it at 1000% markup. Anyone interested should check out http://www.smarthome.com./ They sell the same stuff as the monitoring companies. They also have partnered with a monitoring company that will happily work with self installers. It is dramatically cheaper. Obviously, this is only advice for those that are comfortable setting up their own electronics. It isn't hard, but you do have to read the directions.

For those those that just want the sticker, they can buy the stickers there too. There is nothing 'fake' about the stickers. Brinks and their like don't have a patent on putting a sticker on your window to say that you have a security system.

That being said. Actual as I said, you are right, actual burglars have told me that 90% of an alarm's effectiveness is in the stickers.

Whether, they want to believe it or not, this is the kind of 'Socialization' that kids are getting in public schools. This may be a slightly more extreme example, but part of the 'Socialization' program that schools run is to train students to believe that they have no rights at all. I can remember in school, both students and faculty trying to claim that school rules WERE laws. I have heard that same thing parroted many times since I have been out of school. Many times right here on slashdot.

The first time I heard a home school advocate talk about how public school was never intended for education, but was in fact a socialization program, I thought she was a loon. Since then, the pro public school advocates (many here on slashdot) have convinced me that she wasn't as crazy as I thought. The constant insisting by public school advocates that the education may be lacking, but the public school is for socialization pretty well spells it out.
