So, it finally happened!
A major effort by a distro to fix one hundred really small but irritating bugs. Also known as polish. This is what Ubuntu needs, and to be fair has been quite good at. Just fixing more and more of the tiny annoyances is what creates a well-rounded desktop. On the other hand, they are introducing Gnome Shell, which while probably cool, will certainly introduce a couple of hundred new paper cuts!
Well, me personally - wouldn't that be the natural development of web browsers in general? Integrated file-sharing for objects larger than 100 MB, including streaming. Now that would be an interesting step in the piracy debate!
Cause if it is the exact same, and they have now created a $200 value for the laptops, they can now easily be sold to collect the money, instead of the intended educational value...
Funny idea;)
I think what is wrong is this: the gravity of one atom of water is by far not enough to split that atom of water into Hydrogen and Oxygen...
Therefore - it will work as you predict, but it won't be that perpetual motion you were hoping for...
Man, I never thought I'd be the guy debunking funny threads at slashdot...
The "break in" was basically the use of a username and password they had gotten from one of the Socialist Democrat employees... Not the 1337-ass hacking one might expect!

And since half the articles are dupes, Slashdot is infringing on itself and must self-destruct!
By clicking the link you create incentives for other stealing pirate swine to put up more links. And then all is lost!
We need a new moderation: +1, recursive...
Maybe I'm new here, but shouldn't there be links to both the Economist article and DVD Jon's second article?
Seems like the axis of evil is getting a new member!

So... do you have anything in a human-readable format?
Chuck Norris!
After a quick vote between stakeholders: ...
CowboyNeal!
Depends on how you define size and volume...
Seriously, watch the video, it's hillarious ;)
geometric puzzle game Tetris
The expression No shit, Sherlock springs to mind...
Also, please congratulate me on my first "Come on, this is slashdot" rant!
... or pigeons carrying hard drives...
At least RTF Summary...
You forgot the best part:

Maybe it's the Blizzard guys' moms that come in and say "Enough of those stupid games already, go to bed!"? ;)
Or are they too cool to be running the servers out of their parents' basements like the rest of us?
If you RTFA properly, you'd know the Italian alphabet only has 21 letters...

Sorry for going all wise-ass on you
Can't you see?
They had actual _girls_ in there!
Yeah, and if your girlfriend/mother sees you, you'll know what to say ;-)
Right... cause Ubuntu's release cycles are much longer than fedoras... right...
;-)
Isn't it time we get a new Godwin's law about comparing OS:es to Windows?
Yeah, but you should be thankful you don't have to compile it all like in gentoo! ;-)
Yeah...
Or *one* DVD.
Your choice. IIRC you can get by with only the first couple of discs for a standard GNOME install.
