  1. I dont know if this counts but... on 30 Quotes From GDC 06 · · Score: 1

What about the guy who worked on Darwinia (I think) who said the reason they slaved so hard on it without taking any money from publishers is because they didnt want publishers fucking up their game. I think that was the best line at the whole thing even though it was in the IGF Awards. I think that applause could have continued all night long.

Perhaps you could rent a room at the university in it's IT department for 99 years for $1 and allow them to rent 1.4TB in storage for the same amount of time for $1 as well. You still own it, but they get to use it for way more time then it will even matter (in 2104 I hope my grandkids have a cell phone or whatever with 1.4TB in it).

It's great that you jump on the freak out bandwagon. MS has tried to kill OpenGL before and they will try again. It's not going to be that big of a deal. OpenGL is used way more then DirectX for everything non-games (yes, there is a world out there that doesn't involve games). Here's a clue for everyone who is freaking out about this and doesn't mind having an open mind and learning a thing or two in the process.

  5. Re:register with on Sites Leaking Users' Email Addresses · · Score: 2, Interesting

Personally, I've very rarely needed to use that. Only when the site wants a password that's 6-8 chars, with 3 of them being a symbol or something that goes against my normal password convention do I ever need a reminder. But those sites are so rare that I generally just remember those passwords as being something off of my normal scheme.

I think it would be more time and bandwidth efficient to just throw emails to a@blah, aa@blah, etc and see which ones dont bounce back then to go through a login script for each of those, and really get the admin's attention as their cpu jumps from running the same register.cgi over and over from the same few ip addresses. In the end both ways will get you banned by any good admin.

Hmm, at first I thought this was a troll. With all the corrections though, I think you might actually care. So, I'll bite. Honestly, as much as you write about it, I think boycotting Kraft should be your job. People always say to just do something you have fun at.

Also, please don't go and buy a Kraft product just to turn around and explain to the poor cashier why you are returning it. I can almost certainly guarantee you they won't give half a shit and then you are just needlessly inconveniencing others (the cashier and all the people who could care less behind you).

It's like the people who protest the Iraq war on street corners, all you do is have people who agree with you honk (no net gain) and annoy the people who dont agree with you (again, no net gain). Save your protests for the people who can actually change things. People who organize protests have no clue how much they are diluting the power of it.

Most people just don't care about checking all the labels of the food they buy for how much saturated fat they have much less who makes it. The limited audience of people who read your article changes nothing about Kraft and their day to day activities. Please, go and protest in front of their headquarters if you really care so much about it, or at least take it to http://www.protest.net/. Slashdot, home of basement protesters everywhere *sigh*

Why don't we get a listing of every meteor that comes down? How big are the meteorites that actually hit the ground normally if this would have gone pow way up in the sky?

I think that more money shold be spent on finding asteroids that could kill us and ways to prevent that, but reporting on near misses with grains of dust comparative to Earth seems to be counter productive.

I recall seeing a video that someone took at a high school football game one time and they saw a big meteor coming down and got a good view of it. I do believe it was larger then 16 ft.
