Those copyright antics the two major parties have been up to have pretty much convinced me not to vote for them.
Really hoping this is true for many other Canadians.
I know of _a lot_ of shops just moving to XP now, and of a few who never will. Unless Microsoft can pressure software manufactureres into making their apps incompatible with everything but Vista, I see a real problem for them to get Vista into businesses anytime soon.
Actually, using eq instead of == would have been a better option, as == doesn't evaluate strings, but eq does. That is, of course, assuming the section of my brain storing the knowledge of Perl is still intact..
It doesn't have a fit to width option, but there is a scaling option, now that I'm looking, and it seems quite useful. Should take care of all that scrolling. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure that what drove RAM prices down was switching from stuff that was expensive to manufacture (72pin sticks, yeah!!), to stuff that was much cheaper (SD-RAM, anyone?)
From the way it's presented a lot of times, it would be a form of autism.
I can really believe that analytical parents have a higher chance of having children with a form of autism, such as Asperger's Disorder (Those that have it seem to prefer the term) Both of my parents are analytical, as are their parents. So far, only one of their four children has been diagnosed, my sister with Aspergers, but it's been suggested that I am autistic myself. So 1/4 with a possibility of 2/4 isn't bad proof of this theory. I would say yes, that it does apply.
So what? Is it so evil for a company to take steps to be more profitable? If I ran a company like Google, I would want it to be succesful. I'm not seeing anything underhanded here. Google put up a few ads to make some money. It's a necessary thing. Radio stations need to do it, TV stations need to do it, Google also needs to do it. Good for them. Besides, this is slashdot. I thought somebody would have been singing praises about Google positioning itself to bring down the evil 'Micro$oft' by now. Perhaps that's not the trendy thing anymore.
The Zaurus is an amazing machine. I wouldn't compare it to a PDA, it's too good to be in that league.
My C1000, while lacking a hard drive, plays movies, games, has wifi access, and even functions as a PDA. And yes, it runs Linux. Only downfall is, Sharp only sells them in Japan, and shipping is not cheap.

Opie is an incredible environment. I don't have any experience with Familiar Linux, but I would imagine support would be added soon if it's anything like the OESF-type projects.

It's a shame that more companies aren't like Sharp and putting Linux on their PDAs. OpenEmbedded projects frigging rock.
Seriously. The OS on a Zaurus does more for me than the stuff from Microsoft.
Actually, IrDA currently runs at 1Mbps, with a range of 1 meter or 100 centimeters. Sorry, I don't know what it is in feet or inches, or any similarly antiquated units of measurement...
Why would Internet users subject themselves this type of thing more than others? If we have the ability to find out about the experimental meds online, we'd know better what we were dealing with, and know enough not to subject ourselves unnecessarily.

That's when you use Encrypted RunAs: http://www.wingnutsoftware.com/
It creates a shortcut that runs the program using a local account with Administrator privileges, while the user still has their limited account.
Welcome to slashdot, home of the cheapshot.
It's called gtkguitune, I play bass and acoustic guitar, and I can tune way more accurately with my computer and guitune than with any of my tuners.

Everybody knows Windsor == Canada.

I use Opera on a clamshell Zaurus, and aside from a bit of left-right scrolling, it's -very- usable.

Forgive me, it's 16Mbps currently.

What, exactly, does this mean for the state of legal and illegal torrents? How long would this take to fully implement?
I'm an optimist who is routinely disappointed by the average intelligence of human beings who sit down at a computer terminal.
You do raise a good point. Simply because we have the ability to make informed decisions doesn't mean that we will. Oh well.
