Wired isn't going after subscribers. . . they're going after former subscribers. Wired haven't received the money from them, and assume they won't. So they take it to collections. They're not thinking the customer will renew.
That's the momentum meter, and it's not the same thing. Additionally, they dropped it after 2002 IIRC. (maybe 2k4).
Morale does exist in the dynasty, but its effect is much less pronounced than the momentum meter was, only swinging your team about 10 points tops. (and is impacted by your practice schedule between games)
My only beef is NHL 2005 - it takes like 75 hours of negotiations just to unlock play. Horseshit.
Massive Multiplayer Online RPG. . .
While it may not fit the mold in some ways (no pay to play, everything but towns are instanced) the basic definition of an MMORPG is fulfilled. Many ppl logged into the same world playing an RPG.
I don't see anything on either the IGN site or their "source" to confirm this. I'm certain they will release an expansion (it is the Blizzard MO) but this wasn't anything close to confirmation.
Syria is probably the next "target". Probably done via political pressure to topple an already fragile goverment. But. . . . we didn't have the patience to do that in Iraq, and Syria/Iraq are very similar both in perceived weapons capabilities (the primary difference being Syria actually has WMDs) and the nature of the totalitarian regime.
Iran I believe is lower on the list, primarily because of the secular movement among the younger generation. I.e. it might "work itself out" over time.
And N Korea. . . not likely. Saber rattling perhaps, but there's no real strategic value in the area that would cause this administration concern. . . no way for their business cronies to get rich.
I don't really think it's much of a role reversal for the dems . . . historically they've championed rights of the individual over rights of businesses. After all, what do you think most social programs revolve around?
Individual assistance to those who otherwise may fall through the cracks.
Plus, both parties at this point seem to bow to their corporate masters rather than champion anything based on their ethical/moral considerations.
Very good point. Wish condos were 100k over in my neck of the woods, I'd be a home ownah:)
Now. . . with the fact that real estate value will drive the investment, would you think it's a wise/unwise decision to enter a market that at this point might be considered inflated/bubbled?
the grandparent of the parent (ErichTheRed's post) cited a 40% figure. Haven't seen it myself but I do know the Fed has raised concerns w/Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae recently.
It's going to be driven by these interest only mortages.... you're not gaining equity so if the value of the home DOES drop, you're sunk. Period.
Particularly when the case seems to be that interest only mortages are on houses too far out of the buyer's true ability to pay. I.e. I Only is the only way they could afford the house.
Agree 100% regarding the housing bubble. The prices are being driven up by interest only mortages, where people are getting much more than they can actually afford. This artificially props up the housing market.
I'm hanging on to my cash and investing in other areas until the market bursts. (OR alternately, I will buy in an area that isn't experiencing this artificial inflation I'm seeing in the DC area)
Highly doubtful. Why would they "fix" it or "juice" the pot (say giving AA and KK out on the same hand to encourage a bigger rake) when they're making millions playing it straight?
The risk/reward ratio just isn't there.
Additionally, programs like Poker Tracker are contributing to analyses of hands from all the major sites. We're talking about millions of hands analyzed. If there was a significant probability shift away from the expected results, someone would see it and cry foul.
And that simply hasn't happened. It's not in a poker site's interests to muck with the RNG or to encourage bots or collusion, either by tacitly approving or not actively hunting them.
In the sense that the house will always profit on the game, that's a 100% truism.
In the sense that the house profits because the edge favors them, not at all true. That's the beauty of poker; you're pitting yourself against the other players, not the house.
I only assume this is the case as it's cheap Pi jokes (though some of them were good!) and comments that are tangential to the actual article.
One of the things that fascintated me in the article was his discussion of his high school experience and the lack of ridicule for brains/interests in education. I would have killed for that. . . most of high school felt like a quest to hide interest in knowledge (or face ridicule, which was inevitable anyway - had I known THAT little tidbit I may have cared less).
Whereas David speaks of a high school utopia where no matter what your interests were (math and DnD both mentioned in the same sentence) it was all chill.
I wonder two things - is he simply romanticizing his high school past and it really was as bad as, say, my high school (and from anecdotal evidence seemingly every other high school out there)?
And if he wasn't, how could I find these high schools to ensure that when(if) I have children I can ensure that I'm getting them into these schools as well?
I don't think I became OK with my brains until I was out of college.
In any supply chain you have a channel leader. Sometimes these are the end resellers of product (automotive companies, Laptop manufacturers). Other times these are midstream manufacturers that are too big to really mess around with (Walmart, Intel and the like when dealing with chip development for closed systems like bar code scanners).
In cases like the above, the channel leader can leverage CMs against one another to drive down price. That's your day-to-day negotiation strategy . Your choices become much more limited when you're not the company leveraging the supply chain. The customer isn't always right, sometimes it's the customer that has to grin and bear it.
I don't know how on-topic any of this is, but I'm tired and don't want to write my weekly status report.
Sadly, I agree with you. But just because the current administration are evil bastards that don't give two shits about the principles this country was founded upon doesn't mean that we should give up the idea of protected dissent.
Simply because you're against the government does not make you a traitor, or anywhere close to one.
It's actions, not words that determine if you're a traitor. Speaking out (even if you're speaking out because you're convinced GW is an alien) is an absolute right reserved in the US Constitution. (ok ok Alien and Sedition Act, Patriot Act, etc etc but the bottom line is the what the framers intended - protected dissent)
The ability to dissent is absolutely key to the workings of a free democratic society. Even if you're an idiot with harebrained ideas. In fact, it becomes more important than ever to protect those ideas, simply because they will go against the norms!
After all, no true idea can be judged on merit in a vacuum. Dialog is important to ferret out the weak ideas and improve upon the truly valid.
I thought I made it clear that a ratio that diverges from the.7 has negative implications on survivability of the fetus or the mother. Therefore, the ratio (which is the ratio that is consistently found in playmates/miss am candidates) is conducive to reproduction.
And a.5 ratio doesn't reproduce as successfully. She might reproduce successfully (particularly with advances like the Caesarian). Just like I might win a game of pickup basketball 1v1. The odds are not favorable, however.
Get some physical therapy for it - look into http://www.google.com/search?q=ACtive+Release+Ther apy&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf -8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:o fficial">Active Relase Therapy. Seems to work wonders according to many accounts, and is used quite extensively in the NFL for faster recovery from certain injuries.

The answer lies there.

Sure he could a Smooth Criminal, but maybe he's just a fun guy who the kids think is a real Thriller!
You should mod ME down, not him! ;)
Karma to burn.

The absolute best parts of the Onion are the columns by Anchower, Kornfeld, et al., the Infographic, The Onion Presents, and the What Do You Think?
That and the mini headlines at the left. Last week's was the best: Plan To Trap Boyfriend Aborted.
That's pisser.
The Onion is my Wendesday morning coffee break reading. . . and you slashdotted it. That's just plain old wrong.
how else would you show your love and respect for them?
That and you're not allowed to pee on them, that costs extra. Prudes.
