You're wrong about Classic. In Classic, Mac OS 9 is actually running. If OS X were to run XP apps like it runs OS 9 apps, it would require an actual installation of XP.
To sum up an answer to the flames, I will say this:
These are designed to regulate freedom of movement, which I view as a fundamental right. Notice, on Wikipedia, how long the "Criticisms" are in comparison to the "arguments in favor."
These things do almost nothing but enable the governement to trample individual rights. This is a Very Bad Thing; the less data on me the government has, the happier I'll be; not because I'm a terrorist, but simply because I think that my civil rights are important.
How does it know when prices are "low"? Does it have a hardcoded database that will be inaccurate in a few months, or does it observe-and-compare prices?
I've used every build of Vista or Longhorn ever released/leaked, and so far I have seen absolutely no extra "anti-Linux" default-disk-encryption thing. The bootloader also still works fine with chainloader +1. Since Vista has supposedly been "feature-complete" since build 5308 (now is on 5365), I'm not convinced this is anything but FUD.
Unless performance improves Significantly before the release, people will NOT be happy with their machines. Performance even slows to a crawl (using builds 5270 and 5308) on my P4-2.7ghz with 768MB RAM.
Is eyecandy really necessary?
I can see that a GUI is necessary for non-computer-inclined users. But this is really getting silly. The GUI was created to make commands easier to access, not to be pretty. Anyone who has used Windows 1 or 2 knows that early GUIs were definitely NOT pretty.

As to the installing apps, MacOS is better there. Directory Structure: Under the hood, the directory structure is complex. Aqua and the Terminal are like running two different operating systems, because neither will run programs for the other. OSX does have a/usr/bin. Apps are actually folders filled with all kinds of junk. Basically, OSX is UNIX with a prettier GUI then Linux.

What exactly does "Cannot be avoided" mean? do they actually think they can prevent people from skipping the commercials?
But does it run Linux?

What about the fact that virii aren't usually considered to be alive, not being capable of reproduction outside of a host cell?
Why do you say that? This kind of music is a lot better then random screetchings of tortured instruments!
Am I the only one who couldn't get to that "Reported on this before" link?
Gods, that thing is an abomination. It seems like anybody can be charged for just about anything the big companies don't like.
This is Microsoft "Windows Secure in 2010" Corporation. Is this actually going to help?
I learned C++ when I was 11. It's not hard to grasp, and after you learn C, other languages are much easier.
Although the Russians do have a good success rate the actual numbers are 100 Soyuz launches and two failures.
It wasn't out of the side of someones mouth, they had an electric device to do it. I would like to see THAT up for auction.

Planet Engine is OSS and already does all this.
Is it possible that a computer could compute every possible move, make a database of it, and win automatically every time?
People will notice that all of MS's "New Features" have been in OSS for years.
Google is making everything now. How long till "googleOS" or "Google Office"?
I just dont get it. And I cant go without ThinkGeek and Slashdot.
i thought it was Athlon 64 now?
Annoying doesnt begin to describe it. Still, an improvement over BOB...
