"Nobody crashes their sedan into a tree and giggles while stating they are car illiterate"
The problem is that its ok to be proud of not knowing.. you crash you computer and just shrug it off... you chuckle while mentioning you have no idea what a 'jigawad interweb uploader' is and thats just fine.
they either have the track or they dont... unless your offering to pay a fee every tim they have to take a less purchased track out of the tape storage library.
Ya but like chess if you learn the rules and become a good player on one table then if you play on a different table all you have to do to play well on the next table is learn which peice is which. If I learn a language in an afternoon I'm not learning how to program in an afternoon im just learning the syntax of a language.
Degree's tend to teach you the theories of programming so that you can better understand how it all works and then take that knowledge and apply it to other languages.
I wish I could be posted on slashdot every time i went on an unfocused rant...
1. unfocused rant 2. anything else (its unfocused..it works) 3.... well you all knwo the deal.
seriously though. isn't looks the same thing that basically killed innovation in the gaming industry? sure its nice that they have started to focus on giving OS's a bit of style and community but thats not really whats important to me... but maybe thats just me.
and maybe itsjust because the hardware is just hte developer version... but it just looks kindaplain and ugly to me.. just seems outof place in that case.
not that i have anything against apple but we need big name cases like this to show what these patents will do. You thought that people would miss their blackberry, try telling everyone out there right now that they can't use their itunes anymore...
post-its and mass amounts of them.. that and folded up peices of paper.. the interfeaces are a little bloated in your pocket after a bit but I find them very effective.
look into your highschools IT department. I worked as a summer student every summer with my IT department and it was great. summer is the time for deployments at schools so you get to learn a lot and play with new hardware. It takes a year or so for them to build up trust (which is reasonable) so don't expect to get the admin pw's on the first day but its still a great place to start.
where are these numbers coming from. did they ask everyone if they pirated more software lately? or what increase of softweare pirating they hope to be doing by the future?
the article mentions something about suse being 'out of the picture'. this is a little off topic but i was just wondering why it see's suse as out of the picture... I must have missed something but suse seems to me to be doin pretty well under their novell overlords, and somehow found its way onto a large portion of the ibm notebooks at my college at least.... so somewhere it seems to be in the picute.
Here is a great way to fund open source projects! just..
1. add "to fight terrorism" to the end ofyour projects name/description 2. ??? 3. Profit!
-firefox to fight terrorism (fight IE at least? ) -gaim to fight terrorism (freedom of speach?) -open source fps game to fight terrorism by training the people
This is a joke. how can all of you actually look at this as bad. Microsoft is doing somethign great here! give them a break.
Whenever they try and get the open source perspective everybody gives them the cold shoulder. now onder they always get it wrong. we should be welcoming this kinda action with open arms.. I mean sure watch yourself and always read the fine line. but from all the articles i have read lately it seems like they are at least trying.
the RIAA will never allow it...
for the first time ever a download on slashdot was not slashdoted...

an ircd with multiple classmates and logging enabled. Works like a charm.
Is it like when you talk to somebody and they make a comment/statement soooo stupid that you actually lose IQ hearing it?
I work in a school setting as well and in our entire school board there is only 1 mac with about 4000+ pc's.
Canadacomputers.com and tigerdirect.ca I highly suggest canadacomputers mostly though. I have delt with them many times.

now every person, animal, and plant will have a lens flare
1) Remove "my" 2) ??? 3) Profit!
statistics are a wonderful thing aren't they?
where are these numbers coming from. did they ask everyone if they pirated more software lately? or what increase of softweare pirating they hope to be doing by the future?
imagine that.. the software a person should use depends on what they do and other preferences they have.... shocking.
