    what first class?
    have you tried flying lately, being smacked down by multiple "security" gaurds,
    isn't exactly the VIP treatment i pay for.
    much less hearing that the airline i use, is going to
    attempt to file bankruptcy,.. what happens to the 500$+ a pop im coughing up?
    like please, and then they talk about how they want to allow people to watch live tv?
    for the most part, its a 3hr flight, tops, in general.
    and somebody cant program their DVR, TiVO, or VCR?
    sad, sad i say!

    correct me if im wrong, but um, isn't canada, ..well, Canada?
    their own soverign nation.
    don't they deserve their own letter? why should they beforced to share?!
    we americans are too simple minded to even allow said canadians any true justice
    and allow them to get their own letter...

    and your whole vnc idea isn't that bad either.
    espically considering tightvnc server/client
    as a built-in http server to access your server via the www
    which is great for those pissy internet cafe's that don't want you
    downloading didly jack squat. ;)

    it is relatively insecure by default, but im sure if somebody reworked the code for a short bit
    they could include ssl with it, with little to no hitch.
    anways, just food for thought ;)

    atleast somewhat. but in truth and pratice, this may give the false sense of "compatability" that one would want.
    but all in all, this should be quite nice, and somewhat similiar to the whole Cooperative Linux project (http://www.colinux.org/)
    and this like the Cooperative Linux project, im sure will have a fire lit underneath it
    from people looking to drive foreward the development of "native" win32 *nix apps. ...
    oh the irony. lol
    if this doesn't appeal to you, maybe cooperative linux will.
    if that doesn't appeal to you, good luck ;)

    anti-competitive behaviour isn't exactly legal,
    unless you're a bigass software/hardware mfg,
    and you got boatloads of money, you can buy yourslef out of most the mess
    and just say that you're protecting a "trade secret"
    heh. bs!

    this is the main reason why i haven't bought an ipod.
    i wouldn't mind paying 300+$ for one, if i knew it would work,
    across multiple platforms, with diffrent clients.
    thats why i don't run windows, because im forced to use X product.
    and now that i run linux and bsd, its hopeless to actually
    get something decent, like the ipod & software, to work on it,
    atleast without a major hitch or two.

    i invision a day, when a company won't be telling me how i can, or CAN NOT use their product.
    if i pay for the damn thing, i better well be able to use it how i see fit.

    well, i guess it would be nice, to just reach through my monitor
    grab the oog file i want to play, and squeeze it til it plays.

    but in reality, thats far from it.. but i guess there are some
    great 3d likeness applications for the *nix platform:

    just less-believe-my-govt-because-they-tell-me-to.
    thats not ever how i've been.
    but its ok for people to nail me to the wall over the net,
    the whole fact is, people have rights, even the bad guys.
    what happened to the day when the bad guy actually had a chance to live happily ever after too? ;x

    there is another approach also, its called tripwire,
    it makes hash keys to every file on your pc, or place you specify.
    as to thward and detect any corruption, or malicous issue.
    (which this would be great for, mind you.)
    and then you can just simply boot to a rescue disk of some sort,
    and instruct tripwire IDS (intrusion detection system) to remove every unknown file,
    or ones at your chosing.
    ...of course, this is only good if its a software attempt at "wiretapping"..
    hardware is a totally diffrent story.
    but there are ways for that too ;)

    how many CLEAN cops are there, who wouldn't be tempted,
    espically if the guy is a big drug lord or something,
    with billions in the bank, and it'd all be justified as: "hes a bad guy, so im not hurting somebody innoncent"
    ..i call bullshit.

    what? they don't wanna have to work to wiretap somebody anymore?
    they think they can just drop an executeable file on a remote box,
    and it works automagically?

    ... i'd like to see them get around my pf rules,
    on multiple boxen, and even if they do, lets see them try to lay an exploit on my OpenBSD server,
    or some of my Secure FreeBSD and Gentoo Linux boxes..
    *hides his windows xp pro box, so they cant do anything to the poor thing*

    anyways. times like this is why im glad im an american!
    ..yes, even as much as i'd kill to have an authentic "AUSSIE" accent.

    you're right in many ways. but the fact remains,
    that apple will be rolling out a new, more ehanced cpu, for its ipod line really soon.
    and this cpu, will have FP, along with many other features. mark my word!

    the only true question is, who's willing to pay 600$ for a digital audio player
    when the spectrum of laptop prices aren't much behind?
    almost defies logic.

    good idea, oog is superior to many other codecs.
    but the apple's ipod real time processor doens't have math emulation or anything like that
    and it sounds horrible, with oog, because it cant handle the overhead that oog requires,
    even at significantly lower bitrates.

    i know this because of the whole familiar & ipod-liunux crap. ;)

    maybe apple will get off their duff and stick to the whole "quality hardware" moteef that they normally do,
    and actually bundle the ipod with a decent cpu, and MAYBE even include floating point, and math emulation, ..to say the least.

    i was so looking foreward to it. i thought it was going to be genious.
    its my favorite movie of all time (the orig. one),
    and i must say, that the trailer i hope doesn't do the movie justice,
    because it just didn't seem right. it seems off.
    maybe hes taking it to a whole new level, but it doesn't seem so to me :(
    as for War of the Worlds, i wasnt too excited for it,
    but WOW, looks great! so, summer '05 is when they're getting money from me.
    and im already set to see C&TCF, so thats two so far. ;)

    you're right about the cheapest issues, no os, rhel, then windows.
    but um, dell is calling for rhel to lower its support costs?
    does microsoft even provide comprehensive support?
    (sue me im a naieve linux user)
    but i believe windows' prices to be alebit inflated too?
    but um, why isn't dell calling for lower prices on windows servers? as if the world isn't round.. sheesh!

    you're also not thinking outside of the box either,
    those governments that have "sensitive" files stored on said computers,
    have the files encryped at such an insane bittage,
    that it would literally take an act of jesus h. christ,
    to pop the cherry on the encryption.

    and thats in the event that the 12yr old kids actually,
    can 1st break the firewall, then hop the switches,
    then happen to get lucky enough to route their way through the network,
    to a box that they wouldn't even know about,
    much less about how vlunarable and stuff it is,
    and they must do all of this, under the watchful eye, of some of the most elite system administrators in the world,
    using real time auditors, and of course, people.
    unlike many major coporations.

    sure, the conspiarcy theroys sound cool, but lets see real life application!
    im rooting for the 12yr olds!

    you're so right in many ways, but the true fact is,
    not everything is linked to "9/11"
    hell, its pratically commercialized now... and that IS sad.

    the government thinks that it can get people to act, based off of their fear
    "if kerry gets elected, america will no longer be secure"
    please, same stuff over and over. the whole fact is, people need to be less ignorant,
    when it comes to computers, commercial/private airliners, or telephone cord..
    thats a fact.

    the best way for the govermnet to motivate its people,
    into passing bills, and other crap, is merley to tie it to something that still to this day,
    strikes a whole hell of a lot of fear, into many unwise, unknowing, god fearing people.
    when christian america does something, its all of a sudden the will of "America"

    its actually repulsive!, how can they link "cyber security", to "terrorism" is beyond me.
    iirc, i don't believe there has EVER been a true act of TERRORISM via the great ole www.
    the fact is, just because some 12 yr old kid in Michigian,
    got a point & click script from google, and is now "l33t",
    because (s)he can go and gather up "bots" or "drones" and take out their latest and greatest target,
    doesn't exactly qualify for the mark of Terrorist.
    sure its a nussiance, sure its fundamentally flawed,
    but give me and the rest of self-respecting somewhat knowledgeable computer literate American citizen a kic-kat bar break!
