Some people do, most people don't. It is just not worth it for most developers to keep 2 versions of every app, considering now you have to also keep an ipad version, and a higher resolution version for the new iphone.
A common problem, chinese knock-off companies building a superior product, and doing field testing in the USA. Looks like we really do have something to fear form these guys.
You pay federal taxes for those huge highways, that mean you get cheap products, even if you don't travel. Or ensure safety of stuff you eat, drugs you take, or planes you fly. Or the army to stop someone else taking over, and keeping your oil cheap.
You raise a good point about emergency fund, but the problem is that it generally helps the next government, not this one. Selfish, yes.
You are both idiots. Microsoft was a convicted Monopolist, and abused their position for many users. They would pay PC companies to not sell any computer with other OS. How does this compare to anything Apple has done? Sure, apple do some shitty stuff, and they deserve to be given shit for it, but you guys are just being stupid and ignorant.
The amazing battery life is achieved by having no backlight, which is not very amazing when you can get the same battery life, 10 hours, with an ipad, or weeks with the amazon/bn devices.
This is not amazing at all. If you want a device like this, get a proper ereader with e-ink.
No, the problem with Android is that Australian developers can not sell their apps on the store. Google has been taking their time getting this working, and as of yet has not announced when this will happen.
There is no way Apple is going to pay more money, for no reason. They will make sure the money goes to the worked, or they would not bother doing it at all. Obvious-fucking-ly.
The real problem, is that now people are going to scramble to be in the Apple development team over other teams. This is going to create a whole new set of issues.
Actually, I read a report recently that says foxconn paying the dead families of suicide employees up 20x a years wage. This might have something to do with it as well.
Went to a University in Australia, almost every course had a programming component. Computer Hardware, Mathematical Programming, Compiler constructions, operating systems. For one subject, Advanced algorithms, we had to write the same program in 4 different languages. That was a half a year subject.
You are a fool. He said the vast majority, and somehow you seem to equate this to everybody. You write "absolutely no-one", which is not what the poster said.
Most people do not do the stuff you do, how long before you realise this. I mean, most children start to comprehend that they are seperate from the world, at about the age of 6.
So no, the iPad is not great for everybody, maybe not even for most people. But that doesn't stop it from being great for a lot of people, and doesn't stop the fact that the majority have simple needs.
Apple has strong growth, where MS does not. This is all it means.
While MS might not deserve to have such a low valuation, Apple does deserve its high value. The fact is, Apple has taken big risks, and changed the industry because of it.
Also, you have the fact that Microsoft and Intel, seem to be more at the mercy of businesses and the problems they have, than the consumer. With the GFC, we see businesses have spent less in the past year or so, while consumers haven't been affected as much.
This is why MS might go down, because there is global worry about the economy again, due to EU problems.
Simply put, the market sees more growth in Apple than they do in Microsoft, in the near future. Microsoft has been trying to grow for a while now, which since they own such as large share of the OS/Office market, means expanding into new markets.
They have had some success with xbox, but overall they are yet to be in the black there. There is still a chance to grow with the xbox's online services.
Zune hasn't worked out for them.
They lost there way with Windows Mobile, it seems they just forgot about it, just as they did with IE.
IIS has started to falter, and.Net has seen some great growth, but looks like stagnating now as well.
Whereas Apple have some exciting products coming out, that seem to do very well.
Surely you need books the next semester, and even a year later. Unless each book has information on everything, and it certainly wasn't this way in maths.
Actually in maths, we only really got text books for the first year, and we would use them all the way through the honours degree. We would use other material (such as printed questions, and lots of notes), for the higher courses, such as differential equations 3, and stochastic modelling. This was at a University in Australia.
This is because they owned an advertising agency, called silverfish, that they used to make the crappy ads. They sold it last year, so now they might be able to go to another agency, one that doesn't suck.
You are right, it is too early to say whether the ipad is a success or not, although so far it seems to be doing very well (200,000 devices sold a week, in the US).
It does represent a shift in the way we do things, just at the iPhone has done.
If you are a developer, it is wise to target the ipad.
Oh fuck off. Yes, Apple only sells stuff because of the RDF or advertising. What a load of shit.
Windows 7 tablets have been out already, just as Vista and XP tablets have also been out. What we do know, is that so far, these devices have not taken off.
Now, there will be a second wave of tablets, where everyone runs out and copies the iPad, and that might change things. They will be cheaper, and not as powerful, and have longer lasting batteries. It remains to be seen how well W7 does on this, andoid might be a better fit, and might actually take off.

Except you can already get an adblocked browser for the iPhone, so I will take your odds quite happily.
You just can't get it on Safari, since it does not support plugins.

What do you do if you arch enemy IS 72 virgins?

Maybe you can look at all the different indexes on the market, guess which ones are a bubble, which ones aren't, and get 50% right.
It is like looking at 1000s of cars in a parking lot, predicting 4 will crash in the next year, killing all occupants, and getting only 2 right.
That is a god damn victory in anyone's languages.

Why would anybody get upset about this?
Not math/maths and legos/lego, that is worth arguing about.

Just as Windows copies Mac OS, the fanboys have done the same, and act just as bad as Apple fanboys.

Not to me. Apple hasn't actually actively tried to destroy other companies yet.
And they haven't held back the industry for years (ie6, windows, office).
They don't have such an important tie in (music is movable now, iphone apps aren't so important).
They are still not dominant where it counts (desktop/laptops).
Apple haven't used dirty tactics to get what they want (threatening PC manufactures who included more than one OS).
Apple haven't done any of the abuses that Microsoft was convicted and let off for.
Apple are big on the consumer side, not on the business side (mores the shame).
Also, you have the fact that Microsoft and Intel, seem to be more at the mercy of businesses and the problems they have, than the consumer. With the GFC, we see businesses have spent less in the past year or so, while consumers haven't been affected as much.

I know, your fancy iPhones will never replace just shouting really loud, and how can an air-o-plane ever replace walking everywhere.
What a brilliant point you make, every new shiny thing is outdone by the trid and true method. Thanks professor.

Oh, you are going to grapple at any excuse.
"Oh, its not fair, it is not the same comparison at all."
Whinge away flyboy, Windows 7 sucks, and HP dropped it because they wanted >1 hours battery and $999 price.
