I am not sure that you can blame Microsoft for that one - there were before the days of encrypion and kernel protection, when any program had full access to memory, so there is not way you could stop it, without building a more secure os. And you can't start of building a more secure OS. (You need money, and ideas!)

No, thunderbird is a piece of crap. I have had so much trouble finding even rudementary help, whereas I never had problems with Eudora.
Thunderbird first annoyed me by putting the replies to messages at the bottom - how the f**k is this a good idea. So after much searching, I found an option to change it to the top, then it kept putting the signature at the bottom - great, what a piece of sh*t.
Now, it is taking 5 minutes to store the message in the sent folder (imap online version) - I would be happy if it stored it locally, but I can't find a way to do this.

Microsoft have finally integrated ie into the system, so don't be surprised by this. There is a whole bunch of kernel function, and not to mention Aero, that go through ie now. This promises a more integrated feel to everything you do. IE now acts not only as the browser, but the web server, sql server, and a few other important things.
What amazed me is the exact opposite (ok, not the exact opposite really), the fact that they have developed it so far, and NOT released it yet. They are actually waiting until it is finished to release it.
