The reason I ask this is because when I was between gr 7- gr 9 I was quite good at solving puzzles. When I was in gr.7 or 8, we had a rubix cube at home.. and I was able to solve it, not fast, but I was able to solve it none the less. Then when I was in gr 9-10, I was really good at chess and chinese checkers. I was also good at solving tiled puzzles in under a minute. I don't remember what I did, but I had some sort of procedure for doing it and stuff just worked out all the time.
Now I'm 24 and my sister bought me a rubix cube for christmas and I still haven't been able to solve it. I have no idea what I did when I was a kid. Maybe it had something to do with puberty?
I was suprised that McDonalds in Europe charges you for your ketchup. Restraunts charge you for water, to sit outside on the patio, and to have an umbrella at your table. Most goods in Europe are more expensive than N.America. I thought Canada was expensive, boy was I wrong. A 5 star hotel is usually a 3 star hotel by N.American standards. It cost money to use the washroom evertime, and they're not even well maintained.
I have nothing against Europe or European ppl,I've met nice ppl all over. I'm just not impressed with the way things are run.
I think this statement is the same as what that IBM guy said about there being a market for just 1 or 2 computers in the world.
I don't see why it would be better at solving 1 mathematical problem over another. Anyone who has done game programming knows that most of it is basically mathematics. Positioning, rendering, trajectory etc.
I don't see why computing factorials would be the only use?
I'm not an electronics person so bare with me. I thought the main reason of a power suppl y was to convert AC to DC, so basically a rectifier. I guess this is wrong. So the main purpose of a power supply such as this would be to take 12V DC @10 amps.. and offer 5 12VDC power sources running at 2 amps each? Am I on the right track or am I mistaken?
I am aware the power supplies use Transformers? Why are these used?
Here in Canada, we had an arcade called Playdium.. it was a pretty cool place and lots of fun.. however after going there a couple of times, you come to realize it is a lot cheaper to play games at home... on your console and not be bugged by those stupid continue messages.
Another issue was that they didn't change their games that often.. a lot of those games were ancient... and in the end.. the whole experience became boring...
I stopped going there.. and I think a lot of other ppl stopped goign there for the same reason..
in the end.. the place closed down...
I've looked around for solutions, I have NetOffice installed, but I'm looking for something much simpler. A lot of stuff out there can do a bunch of stuff and require me to click x amount of buttons to achieve a simple repetitive task..
I am currently looking for a Project Tracking log tool. True I could write it myself, but I don't really have the time to do that right now.
I am not really looking for something to the likes of subversion, CVS or MS Project.
I want something similar to a blog, but where I can post entries under various categories. And mark them if they have been addressed or not.
When I code and test stuff, I disable and enable some code, add new functionality etc, or notice that I need to take out (e.g. print statements) or add new stuff. I would like to just enter that stuff into a form easily and maybe query entries in those categories at a later date.. or view entries that were entered on a specific day through a calendar...
I remember there was an article on slashDot earlier regarding the PPU or Physics Processing Unit. Anyone know if they're being used for games? Are ATI or NVIDA planning on having on on their cards?
At first I didn't care much about software patents.. but it seems that simplistic patents are being handed out left and right to every one who asks for them. This in turn will actually hinder innovation, well it already is actually. The easiest way out is to BAN software patents.. but is this really the answer? I think the USPTO has to be held more accountable.
This security firm is RSA. A friend of mine works there. They have closed their downtown Vancouver branch and are moving operations to to HQ an India.
He seems to be taking it pretty well, but I feel bad for him since he just started working there a couple of months ago, I think 6 months ago.. and he just graduated last year.
The thing is.. the BlackBerry was made to send and recieve e-mail messages, and thats what its specialized for. The other things that it has are basically add on's.
Its kind of like why did iPOD's become to popular when we already have PDA's that can do almost everything that it does and much more.
Its all about simplicity towards the end user. They want to get from point A to point B as fast and easily as possible. And the fact that the balckBerry and the iPOD have been huge successes says enough..
while this might be true in some cases..
there are also other things to consider here...
how many times has a Professor taken all the credit for the stuff his grad student has some.
how many times do grad and undergrad students come up with really cool concepts, or prototypes of products but never get a chance to pursue them outside of the school?
in this case.. everyone wins.... the students get paid for coming up with some cool stuff and a bunch of ppl get to use it.
Its no different than a PHB that says he want to do this, this and this.. and you end up coming up with some really cool stuff to actually get a bunch of stuff to work. But you have no claim to it since your working for the company, and the company owns it.
at first I was like cool.. they're building a bike from scratch.. nice stuff.. but then it went on and on and now cars.. and now I just don't watch discovery at all...
being able to pick what shows I want to watch.. instead of a bunch of reality shows would be really cool..
nope, I haven't seen much. I only spent half a day.. mostly on foot, sight seeing around London. The coolest part of London was the Museum.
well I've never saw a McD's in London when I was there. Here in Canada, I've never come across any McD's that has charged for ketchup.
:)
As for the countries I visited: France, Holland, Switzerland, UK, Venice, Italy, Austria, Germany, Monaco and Lichenstien.
Cheers

It will be more expensive to run, cost money to do searches and try to block stuff that is uncompetitive with their high prices.

I went back from Open Office 2.0 to 1.1.4 because 2.0 was a memory hog. Does 2.0.1 fix these issues?
thanks
no its not a joke.
and no... I'm not aware of freshMeat..

any suggestions..
My big question is where on earth do these ppl get the money to run these services??
Sure they have ads and stuff.. but do ppl really click those ads? Very rarely do I ever click ads.
I remember there was an article on slashDot earlier regarding the PPU or Physics Processing Unit. Anyone know if they're being used for games? Are ATI or NVIDA planning on having on on their cards?
sorry to hear that dude... hope ur doing ok now. My friend is lives with his parents so he should be ok.
But it seems the luster of an office job in N.America is going away. Now its all about the unions and trade jobs.
Round up all these patent lawyers..
and throw them in a dungeon somewhere in Iraq....
