She is not at all into the shoot em up type of games. The only mindless shooting game she enjoyed playing was Serious Sam in coop mode, where it was mainly me shooting all the monsters and she hides behind me. lol. The other action game she liked was Oni. It involved a touchy feely story and a female for the hero, without senseless killing.
But most of the games that she really likes playing, or still plays involve building stuff. Games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, or (Yes) NeoPets or Black and White.
And yeah, having female avtars with skimply clothing doesn't attract girls to play em...
I think all MCU and DSP manufacturers should do something like this. At work, I write firmware and it seems that I spend too much time reinventing the wheel and wasting time over timing etc instead of spending most of my time writing functionality. Right now its not practical for us to put any available embedded Linux OS into our MCU because of the huge space requirement, and there is a lot of functionality on embedded Linux OS's that we don't need. Yes 4MB is a lot, when you only have 128K of program space.
good points and I agree with pretty much all of them,
however a number of ppl who obtain a degree in one area, don't necessairly stay true to that area. Think of the number of fine art ppl that graduate each year, and how many of them actually get a job doing art? Isn't it better that they get a degree in an art that has relevance rather than just some general arts program?
Is your code able to interact with a compiler? Why I ask this is because sometimes when you are looking at some code and would like to implemnt it, it would be useful to run it through your parser and see how many warnings/errors it comes up with. Or maybe its overkill, but just a thought:)
I was just wondering what compiler you are using to program your PIC. I did some programming on PIC's in Uni using MPLAB about 3 or 4 yrs ago. However, I'm not too fond of programming in Assembler. Do you know of any C based compilers that are free? I'm just interested in doing some hobby projects, and the C compiler from MPlab is not free.
I'm not sure what you're watching, but now a days I see more and more suggestive body part scenes on TV... BTW.. I live in Canada, in the Greater Vancouver area, so some of our channels are American. I've seen so many buttock scenes now a days. Now a days its ok to show boobe scenes as long as the nipple is being covered. A girl can be almost naked, but its ok for tv if her nipples and privates are covered. If I had a kid, I'd be concerened about them watching stuff like that.
While we are on the topic.. Anyone here work with embedded OS's?
am looking for a good chip/embedded OS combo...
the basic functionality I need out of the OS is it being able to handle very basic network stuff like TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS resolving.., be able to interact with IO's, for the chip...
am looking for something where I can program in C/C++ or Java... and cost is an issue.. would like to keep the price of the chip to 10-15 USD... any suggestions?

How is this different than MS providing stuff for free and everyone else suing them because they can't compete?
This software service model doesn't seem to make sense for commercial software...
if a program is so hard to use, that I would need a service contract, why would I buy the product in the first place? this model doesn't affect me because I am a hardware programmer, but if some small company wanted to make a livelyhood out of writing software and selling it... they would be bankrupt..
Its ok to have Madi Gras, sell/rent x-rated content in video stores and make tons of shows and movies with suggestive content and language in the US.. but its un-christian to talk about evolution?
carrying an iPOD and blogging doesn't make u a geek...neither does having the latest gadgets and being able to use a computer make u a geek..Technophile.. yes... but not g33k..

In my highschool english classes, I learned Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and a bunch of other Shakespeare plays. I remember doing readings of it, analyzing lines etc, and I did quite well in those classes. However, I failed to see how studying such material would help me improve my education, let alone my english. Maybe if I was in some literature class or drama class, then I would see the merit of such a class, but just the premise of it being a classic work doesn't mean it helps education in any way.
How many of us would care things like an LCD screen with GPS tracking, CD/MP3 player deck, temperature controlled environment, carpets, rear view cameras on the car were standard in a car.
Why not in an OS? Cause its MS? Its their OS, they have a right to put what they want and sell it just as much as GM, Honda or Toyota does.
'The consumer would like a choice' argument doesn't work here because most avg consumers want something that just works.
after 9/11 there were reports of South Asian Canadians being held in US jails on suspicion.. later on they were released because they were cleared off all charges, but they fact is that they were still held for quite a long time without any charge or evidence.
Well since its cold most of the year, except from May - Aug, here's a solution that would work most of the time.
Just have a vent that sucks in air from the outside to the bottom of the server room and a vent on the top of the server room that blows out all the hot air.. You probarbly don't even need a fan to circulate the air since the hot air should rise to the top and the cold air should creep to the vent and make the entire room cold...
I looked at the article and it seems that the Athlon 64 3000+ was the clear winner in most of the test... giving u the most bang for ur buck.. however, FTA
"There's no clear-cut price/performance leader, unless you simply believe that the lowest-cost CPU will offer the most bang for the buck. We were impressed with how the Athlon 64 3800+ placed, generally offering a slightly better position on the overall curve than most other CPUs. On the other hand, the Athlon 64 3700+, one notch below the 3700+ in price, looks to be the odd duck, and we'd recommend you avoid this one if possible."
Its like they can't figure out their own results..
I have a little sister who plays computer games.

actually, I would find this pretty useful.
When I'm working on a bunch of projects. I get e-mails from ppl regarding the project and also, not associated with projects,
I can just tab open them and compare different notes/output ppl have given me.
it seems like a step in the right direction.

cheers

U don't wanna see the 'Bare Naked Ladies' naked...
sounds like a pretty good deal to me though, content + resuable media.. (is it reusable??)

Stuff like this makes movies like
Aeon Flux, Equilibrium, Minority Report etc.. seem more and more real...
I see nothing wrong with bundling software.

I read the article, what was CmdrTaco in violation of?

no wonder they fired all those engineers/scientist...
offer potatoes as prize, free student labor, no need to spend $$ on materials or labs, leech technology... PROFIT.. yes... excellent..
