  1. Expresscard tvtuner on How To Deploy a Game Console In the Office? · · Score: 1

Just use an Expresscard TV Tuner and feed the 360 into it. If you didn't have the requirement that you be able to track what they do I would suggest picking up a 360 VGA cable and going directly into the monitor so they could game in HD, but I'm guessing that's not much of a priority.

FYI, Hasseys don't shoot 120mm film. I'm not even sure that there is 120mm film. They use 120 film, which is a long stip of film that gives a maximum dimension on the short side of a little under 6cm. The other dimension depends upon the camera. There are 6x4.5 cameras (often refered to as 645), 6x6, 6x7 and I've even seen a few 6x9s out there too. Once again, 120 is the name of the format, not the size of the frame.

  5. Re:but the point is... on 35mm - One Step Closer to the End · · Score: 1

Black and white films are already expensive compared to color films of the same quality. Others have already said it, but TMax is a Kodak product so Nikon's leaving the film market really doesn't have much immediate effect on it's avialability. Kodak is still making it and have shown no signs of discontinuing it. They have, however, discontinued other black and white films and a bunch of slide films. I don't think that film is going to go away any time soon, but instead become more of a niche artistic product. Photoshop and megapixels can do some pretty amazing things and when used properly give results comparable to that of good film, but silver halides look different than pixels. Like anything that gives people a choice, some will go with one and the rest will go with the other. I for one will continue to shoot film as long as I can find and afford it. I'm a Canon man anyway. I've got two 35mm EOS SLRs and I'm going to get another as soon as I have the capital to do so. But then again, I'm one of those artsy photographers that cringes when he has to use a point and shoot, film or digital.

Wrong. Just plain wrong. This comment represents a complete misunderstanding of how black and white film, color film and digital image sensors work. It takes a whole hell of a lot more work to make a digital picture look good in black and white than just greyscaling it.

  15. Re:Image editing.. on Kodak To Stop Making Black and White Paper · · Score: 0, Redundant

As a photographer, I can tell you that digital as it stands (with affordable cameras, not $20,000 rigs) has muddy contrast and when you're using an SLR like a Digital Rebel the clarity of the depth of field isn't anywhere near as good as it is on film. For B&W specifcally, shooting in monochrome on a camera is just stupid. You can make half decent digital prints just by using curves and filters, so why throw out the color info when it could look beter in color?

it won't make it so your Windows apps magically run on OS X No, the switch itself won't make Windows apps run on OSX, but for your average user WINE might seem kinda magical. If they can get and OSX version on WINE running where all you have to do is double click on an installer and *BOOM* all the software you already bought for Windows all of a sudden works, that might entice some more people to get Macs. I intend to get an Intel Mac once the switch has trickled up the product line to the PowerMacs, but I'm not looking forward to re-buying Photoshop, Illustrator and all the other expensive apps I run daily. A working version of WINE will just make me buy faster.
