I always thought that since people can record shows on their VCR and watch them later while fast-forwarding commercials, what's the big deal about downloading them instead?
I always thought of DVD sales as just icing on their cake. It's not like they cost a lot to print, and they already made their money with commercials anyway...
So, if I'm a TV company, why do I care if they download the shows?
Everyone's favorite congressman, John McCain, and his buddy Feingold already got that awful Campaign Finance "Reform" law passed, which effectively abridges free speech.
But, that's only supposed to affect rich lobbyists and media conglomerates! It can't possibly apply to us as well!
That is something I also considered. I do have a Cingular phone, and I thought it might be some attempt at spimming me. My phone is pretty primitive compared to all the new fangled blackberries and camera phones and what not, so I figured it might be an attempt at spim, but I have no way of knowing for sure...
Anyone who posted an answer, thanks. I've never seen a number like that on my cell before, and I was just curious.
As far as answering goes, why should I waste minutes or risk a scam? Why even post a reply like that? A wise man once told me the only stupid question is the one not asked. And apparently the slashdot mods though it worthy of a green light, so plllbbttt
It's good to quash this kind of stuff as soon as possible. At the price they are selling, they need to take away any technical excuse to not buy a PSP in order to compete with Nintendo at the portable level.
What a judge says, and what common sense says are very often two very different things. Don't like Microsoft? No one is forcing you to use it. Have to use it at work? Quit. Use it at home? Go buy a Mac instead.
Or you could stop whining...but I suppose that's never an option.
Hooray for good TV! At last, a NON-reality show getting greenlighted! BG and 24 are about all I watch anymore (adult swim too), but they are certainly WORTH watching.
Three cheers for SciFi finally doing something smart.
"Finally, part 3 wraps up with chapter 22 discussing how to write secure programs"
How come the "secure" part of coding, perhaps one of the most important parts of coding, is always last in the book?
Now I'm not saying Firefox isn't a terrific browser (because it is), but when someone suggests a browser that isn't IE or Firefox, why is there an uproar? You may think Honda (Firefox) makes the best vehicle, but does that mean Toyota (Opera) vehicles shouldn't be on the road?
Keeping with that analogy, the oil burning, cloud spewing, Gremlin with brakes that don't work (IE), *should* be off the road.
Its just an opinion, but why bother with opera when you have firefox?
So you are suggesting that FireFox should have a monopoly instead of IE?
Opera is a fine browser, and there are many other good browsers as well. Why does it matter what browser someone uses? (as long as it isn't IE)
I wouldn't call you negative. I was of the same opinion before reading this article. If everything this guy says is true, the PSP looks to be a mighty good competitor. And if the PSP can't give Nintendo some competition, then noone can:P

If you have read this comic before, you remember "QA Confidential." Funny, funny stuff.
If you haven't, the site is no longer up, but here's a mirror:
QA Confidential
They do show them, every now and then. Usually when I'm at work, and usually in a big marathon block.
I believe a wise man said this thousands of years ago.

I don't answer calls that I don't recognize. Especially one as odd as that.

Don't like Windows? Don't use it.
...it's not led by Zap Brannigan.
We pretty much already assumed they had em.

"a future in which .NET is a key driver behind a strategy which will see Windows CE devices taking the limelight"
.NET pretty much heralded this...
This is a new strategy? I thought the release of
Fail to profit? Since when has Microsoft failed to profit? Individual organizations within MS maybe, but not as a whole.
Doom hasn't been very successful outside of the PC world. Are there ANY PC games that have been successful when ported to console?
I can think of a couple for vice-versa situation...
There's hundreds of programming books released all the time. Why is Slashdot interested in this particular one?

I thought Linux applications just appeared magically out of the Stargate or something.

I know it's only $500, but wouldn't this be better spent on development, or even marketing?

Could someone explain what the broadcast flag is, and why it's going to be illegal to ignore it?
