I found out that all I had to do was take out the SIM card and use the phone over my wireless connection at home and then PDANet showed up. Alternatively, I could have just downloaded the .apk file and copied onto my phone via USB. Now I just use the default OS tethering options. Have carriers released other Android phones with a modified OS that doesn't allow you to mount the phone's SD card as a USB drive on your computer?

When talking on the phone people are usually looking at the road.

People can speak and act differently in different circumstances. I do not act and speak the same way at work as I do at home or with friends. Where did I ever say anything about people who are only capable of speaking in total profanity? I said that just because someone uses words that YOU find profane doesn't mean they are unintelligent. This has nothing to do with ghetto people. I went to a university to earn my bachelor's and am currently pursuing a master's degree, but I'll cuss like a fucking sailor if I want to. The point I was trying to make, jackass, is that every single generation accuses the following generation of "perversion of societal norms". No shit, genius. Societal norms change when new generations emerge and start to take over the culture. The fact that you refer to it as a perversion is simply a matter of perspective, such as it has been for every single generation since civilization began.

Such nonsense. The fact that someone uses some words that you don't approve of for normal use, despite the fact that they have the exact same meanings as other words that for some reason are acceptable, has very little to do with who one idolizes. Use of these subjectively unacceptable words and phrases does not in any way constitute a representation of how decent, intelligent, educated, articulate, or industrious someone is. Your argument is the same tired old chestnut about how things were better in the old days because you had to walk uphill in the snow and youngsters respected their elders.

  14. Re:The problem with jurors on Facebook Post Juror Gets Fined, Removed, Assigned Homework · · Score: 1

Just because you don't understand why people attempt to avoid jury duty doesn't make them any more selfish than you. Right out of college I was working a crappy job with hourly pay. If I didn't work, I wouldn't get paid. In Texas your employer is not required to pay you for days missed because of jury duty, they just can't fire you. I was part of a jury pool once which meant I had to drive to downtown Houston and find my way to the Harris County court house. If you have ever been to Houston you will understand that if you don't live inside the 610 loop, your only options for getting downtown is to drive yourself or triple your travel time by attempting to take the bus. There are parking garages for the court house which are fairly reasonable at around $6 for the day. So I had to miss a day of work, without pay, to drive downtown and pay $6 for parking in order to fulfill my civic duty and received a check for $6.50 for the effort. Luckily it was only one day of work and I didn't get selected, probably because I said I have no idea how to quantify someone's pain and suffering and convert that to a dollar amount. If I had been selected and had to serve on that jury for a week or more I would have been broke and homeless. Then there is the entire jury pooling process with the rude courthouse clerks and how they basically make you waste an entire day just sitting around waiting.

Exactly. The iPhone 4 is only marginally better, from a technical standpoint, than the Nexus One:

    • Processor: 1 GHz
    • Storage: 16 or 32 GB
    • Battery: built in 3.7 V 1420 mAh
    • Memory: 512 MB eDRAM
    • Display: LED backlit IPS LCD, 3.5-inch screen (diagonally), 640-by-960-pixel resolution at 326 ppi, 800:1 contrast ratio
    • Camera: Rear 5 MP, HD video (720p) at 30 fps, 1.75 m size pixels, 5× digital zoom, LED flash; Front VGA 0.3MP SD video (480p) at 30 fps 25.17 s size pixels

    Nexus One

    • Processor: 1 GHz
    • Storage: 512 MB onboard, expandable to 32 GB microSDHC
    • Battery: Removable 1400mAh
    • Memory: 512 MB DRAM
    • Display: 480 x 800 px (PenTile RGBG), 3.7 in (94 mm), 254 ppi, 3:5 aspect ratio, WVGA, 24-bit color AMOLED with 100,000:1 contrast ratio and 1 ms response rate
    • Camera: 5.0 megapixel with video (720 x 480 px at 20 fps or higher), LED flash and auto focus.

The iPhone 4 came out almost seven months after the Nexus One and is only marginally (technically) better. Either the GP is a troll or they simply have no idea what they're talking about.
