It might also help if the Israeli government would keep their damn settlers from expanding in to neighboring territories. That certainly hasn't changed since the 60's...
If you have ever actually used Windows 7 then you know there is a big difference between it an XP, and I don't just mean 64 bit support. Companies phase out old legacy hardware and software all the time, and their clients can either rely on in house or third party support or they can upgrade to the new product. Its pretty common in the world of business, which it also sounds like you have little experience with.
I had service with TiVo for a little over a year. When I finally canceled, they double charged me the cancellation fee. I called and made them aware of this fact. When they finally returned my money they gave me everything back minus $8 for taxes. I know it was only $8, but it was the principle behind the issue and I explained to them that since it was THEIR fault that I was double charged that THEY should be the ones out $8. The guy I spoke to on the phone about this was a complete prick about it and basically told me that I had to talk to the state tax department if I wanted my $8.
Now I tell everyone who mentions TiVo about this story hoping to cause them a lot more than $8 in damage to their image. If they had only given me a measly $8 out of their own pocket then this all could have been avoided.
Whenever you want to upgrade is up to you. If you want to use a 10 year old machine with XP, then more power to you. But why should Microsoft care? Maybe IE9 runs like shit on XP and they don't want to keep their staff busy dealing with all the issues and backwards compatibility for an OS that is definitely in the saturation/decline stage of the product life cycle.
Do you go to Best Buy and complain that they don't sell Beta tapes?
Dear Sony,
You know what will really cut into sales? Being total douchebags towards your customers. That's what is really going to cut into sales.
thxkbye
I know, right? With all the fan/customer alienation going on at Sony, you would think George Lucas was their CEO!
My girlfriend is a middle school English teacher. Every 6 week term she has more and more students failing because they can't even complete and turn in simple homework assignments let alone earn passing grades on exams. I've looked at some of these papers and these kids can't even form complete sentences. She tries calling and emailing their parents but more than half the time they fail to show up to parent/teacher conferences. She isn't allowed to give these kids the failing grades they have earned, she has to adjust her grading scale so as to cut down the number of failures below a certain number. One girl continually failed the 8th grade and the school eventually "graduated" her to high school when she turned 16 simply because she was too old for middle school.
The public education system in this country, especially Texas, is so broken and mismanaged that it won't change until the entire thing eventually collapses upon itself.
Well, to be incredibly pedantic the parent did say every crazy fucker who blows HIMSELF up as well as innocent people. Most high profile suicide bombers do tend to be Muslim. That said, insanity and a total disregard for the lives of innocents is not limited to one culture or religion.
One article I read said the bomb went off in the baggage claim area, while the CNN article states it was detonated at the entrance to the international arrivals section. I've been through Domodedovo a few times, but without more details it is difficult to know if the bomb was detonated in the "secure" area past the security checkpoints or simply where everyone waits to greet passengers as they clear customs.
I've been through Domodedovo multiple times. There actually are checkpoints consisting of x-ray machines and metal detectors at all of the entrances to the airport in addition to the traditional security checkpoints. These checkpoints are manned by military/police personnel. When entering the airport they will randomly screen people and scan their bags.
My understanding (from numerous somewhat conflicting articles) was that this bomb was detonated in the baggage claim/arrivals area. Baggage claim is inside all of the security checkpoints so whoever did this somehow smuggled a bomb through security at Domodedovo or brought it on the plane with them from another airport.
While that's true as long as the emphasis is properly placed on the "a", it's worthwhile pointing out that those who hate this show are certainly smarter than those who love it.
It isn't trying to fool anyone. It is a TV show that is primarily focused on character development. The crazy science stuff is just a backdrop. No one wants to watch a scifi show where people do nothing but solve complicated math problems on a chalk board for 45 minutes. The show is fiction, and as such it requires a modicum of suspension of disbelief. That said, how is Doctor Who not full of pseudoscientific bullshit?
Assuming you're being serious, what is wrong with just clicking on the View menu and disabling the Status Bar? Why take away the option to have it for those of us who actually like it? Completely removing the option to display the Status Bar is not progress since, as I said, you can already disable it. I agree with whoever said earlier that the Firefox devs must have too much time on their hands if they're doing shit like this.
Yes, in the same way that masturbating has replaced actual sex with another (living/willing/etc) person. You would prefer one, but will settle for the other when you have to, or if no one is looking.
They don't teach how we did horrible evil things to steal land from the Indians. How we did worse things to the indian population than Hitler did and in fact he learned them from us.
Actually, I remember my history lessons from my elementary school days in California. A large portion of our history education was focused on how evil the Europeans were for what they did to the Noble Savages. But you are right, we never really are taught the actual truth. It is usually some convoluted form of bigotry or exceedingly politically correct.
Nice rant despite being completely off topic and lacking even a basic grasp of the differences between the two devices being discussed.
There are absolutely no more ads on an Android phone than there are on an iPhone. None, at all. If you think otherwise, you've been smoking too much crack and chasing it down with the kool-aid.
Both devices allow developers to release free applications supported by ads.
Both devices come without Adobe Flash installed, by default.
Both devices have access to the same internet.
So what exactly was your point again regarding Android phones? How are ads shoved in your face when you pick up an Android phone any more than with an iPhone? I owned an iPhone 3G and currently have an Android phone and I seriously have no idea what the fuck you are rambling on about, so please enlighten us with an example.
Exactly. The majority of games that you would expect to include split-screen co-op but don't are that way because of some combination of laziness and greed.
How many other articles on Slashdot assume that everyone already knows about the software/technology being dicussed? And how many posts get modded up for ripping someone a new one because they presumably work in the IT industry but have not heard about said product? Now the rubberband is on the other claw!
I think it is fairly obvious. In order for a democracy to work correctly, the public has to be informed of what is going on. None of the large mainstream media corporations tell more than one side of a story, and that is usually sanitized and skewed to benefit the corporation and their interests. Wikileaks provides crucial information, the truth, in a fairly unbiased and open fashion about lies our governments have been feeding the public. You can argue that most people still don't care to read the information or be persuaded by it, but for those who do care, Wikileaks is a powerful tool. Whether or not people are too lazy to care doesn't really matter (regarding how Wikileaks aids the democratic process), the tools and information are there for anyone interested. The next step is to get more people to care, but sadly the only way I can think of accomplishing that is to take away something they love.
This is the same moral dilemma I come across when I want to type the word "shit" in chat for just about any modern FPS. I can't say "shit", but I can blow someone's brains out and hump their corpse... sounds right to me!
Ok, please point me to a service where I can search for people's email address by name or location...
People obviously prefer Facebook over regular old email for a reason. Just because you don't use or even like a particular service doesn't make you any less of a condescending asshole when you completely write them all off as morons because they don't see things your way.
How about posting pictures of each robot in addition to the YouTube videos? Also, your wiki seems to be rather incomplete with regard to the descriptions of your products.

Clinton was impeached but he was not removed from office. An impeachment is simply an indictment.

Great, another American Idol fan...

Repeating hyperbole over and over again isn't really what I would call criticism, just annoying.

Then we'll need to hire people to clean up all the dead bodies. Progress!

Yeah, I'll make sure to wait until my next high school reunion to ask my old friends for their current email address.
