Actually, those were the default settings when you install Windows on your PC. Those are the same settings that Giant had in their software before they were bought out by Microsoft. So far what I've seen in this thread is everyone tearing the program apart, and blaming everything on Microsoft, when in reality it looks like the only thing Microsoft did to this software was take Giant's code and replace any instance of Giant with Microsoft.

Actually, in the original version of Giant's Antispyware, this is a default feature. The majority of Microsoft's beta version looks and acts almost exactly like Giant's latest version before they were bought out. I'd say that so far 99% of the code has been left untouched. However, Microsoft did remove the innoculate option from the Advanced Options menu.

I've said this so many times that I'm almost tired of saying it. There is proof in the fossil record, mainly from the rings of pretrified trees from around the world, known as dendrochronology, that shows that the climate has steadily been chaning for the past 200 million years.

El Nino is controlled by the climate. If Global Warming were to exist, then the frequency of El Nino would increase. By studying the rings of these 200 million year old fossilized tree rings, and comparing them to modern rings, not only can we determine the frequencies of El Nino, but also that the frequency has not changed over the past 200 million years.

And I also believe that you completely misunderstand the concept of comparing human CO2 emission to that of volcanos. Its true that humans might emit more CO2 than volcanos do now, but thats mainly because we don't have hundreds or thousands of active volcanos errupting everyday like there were millions of years ago. Human CO2 emissions are trivial when compared to prehistoric CO2 emissions, and the planet didn't die because of it, so why should it die because of us?

The better argument for allowing immigrants to work here, and one that also appears to be in this book, is that the economy works better if we have the people who are best at doing a job do those jobs. If we can take the best and the brightest from other countries and have them work in our companies and produce better product for us, we should steal every single one of them we can get. If this means that Americans who are less qualified for those jobs have to do something else (like sell cars to our better-qualified immigrants), that's fine.

This is basically Aristotle's philosopher-king theory, found in Plato's The Republic. I disagree with this theory though. There is already a limited amount of skilled professionals in this country, as well as a limited amount of resources and occupations. If we bring in more skilled professionals from other countries, then we might find our resources and available occupations to be stretching thin, and keep in mind that when I say occupations and resources I'm talking specifically about IT jobs. 10 million people with bachelor's degrees competing for 5 million jobs doesn't seem too advantageous to the economy in my eyes. But then again, I am no expert.

And what is to happen to those who cannot find work because they simply aren't the best people for the job? What do they do when they find there are no jobs? If they are American citizens, they can apply to the Welfare system, or they can become part of the army of homeless that already walk the streets in this country.

I am very conflicted when this topic is brought up, because as a member of the IT community, it does in some way influence my own career.

They promise us stuff like compensation for working weekends, etc, but then just like our software, they fail to deliver.

I have a huge problem with salespeople and advertisements specifically because of my bosses. IMHO everyone who works in sales is nothing but a glorified 419 scam artist. Politics really aren't any different either.
