This is such a stupid pursuit. Mathematics is not science! Math and science work around totally different lines. Academia needs to return to natural philosophy - first make observations, then make a theory for those observations, and then test that theory by experiment. Mathematics is not testable any more so than formal logic.
Physics has gone off the rails since Einstein, postulating all kinds of absurd entities with no evidence whatsoever except "the math doesn't work." I mean, the argument for dark matter is a classic appeal to ignorance: we can't see it so it must be there! More and more particles like gluons and gravitons have to be invented to continue to bolster theories that are starting to look more holed than a block of swiss cheese.
bad methodology has led science into a decades-long blind alley, as has happened so many times before.
You mean, use a border skirmish of the sort that's been occurring since the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in the 1970's as a pretext for a greater war in which we get our asses thoroughly handed to us by a citizen militia?
Hizbollah began as a group of rebel Lebanese Muslims fighting against an Israeli invasion of Lebanon. But when we kill civilians, it's "justified collateral damage." When they kill civilians, it's "terrorism." What a bunch of BS.
I've been a Sony gamer since the PS1... but Nintendo really seems to be shaking things up. Between the HD-DVD less 360, and the unbelievable trainwreck that is the PS3, I might be convinced that simplicity is a virtue. What good is a next-gen console if all the games are just the same rehashed 6 titles over and over?
The best part is it's based on a fallacy to begin with. In the comic, the school bully comes, steals his artwork, and begins selling copies for a quarter in front of the teacher's lounge. In the case of file sharing, no money changes hands! What a bunch of horse crap.
Maybe the real problem is our civilization is leading an unsustainable existence. If one person can disrupt the lives of 300,000,000, then it is almost inevitable that eventually someone crazy enough to try it will come along. If you put too many rats in a cage, eventually they will start killing one another even if there's more than enough food and water for them to survive.
...very passionate and believe that they honestly know what is better for the rest of us. That mindset allows them to break the law, even if they are certain to get caught.
Wait, are you certain you weren't describing the Bush administration?
What frightens me is the bottom ad on that page. It's advertising a hidden camera for "security in your kids' playroom" with a picture of an older girl with noticably hard nipples. What are these people trying to tell us?
Square is giving the X-Box 360 Final Fantasy XI, which is already on PC and I think several of the consoles anyway. That's not "abandoning the PS3 and jumping to the 360."
You know, this might be one of the smartest things anyone in the media has done recently. Even if it turns out to be an enormous flop (and I think it might have a chance of succeeding,) at least it's a new direction. They are at least trying to get out of their rut.
No f'in way I'm buying a PS3 if this happens. Almost all my games are bought used - it makes it a lot easier on those who are gaming on a limited budget. If this happens, I'm going to end up the proud new owner of a Nintendo Revolution.
So when IBM worked with Hitler to exterminate the Jews... the fucking shareholders, man! Think of the fucking shareholders!
This is a rhetorical example, but seriously. There have got to be limits to what a corporation is allowed to do in pursuit of the almighty dollar, but you never hear any of the Ayn Rand-types talking about that. But capitalism is no magic utopia where the invisible hand stops pollution, disposes of hazardous waste properly, or ensures that children are fed and cared for even if their parents are drug-addict deadbeats. Time and time again, corporations show to us that they are untrustworthy on their own, and will always do the most profitable thing, no matter how many lives they destroy in the process.

Except to blacks.
I notice that corporations want all the benefits of globalization (ie: cheap labor) with none of the deteraments (cheap imported products.)
VGX-XL202... what a memorable name! What a clearly distinctive product. I mean, it's got 2 Xes!

I thought the exact same thing... I wonder if there's a big terrorist attack coming. I never used to be this paranoid... *sigh*
Because I'm sure bullies stealing kids' comics and selling them outside the teacher's lounge is a big problem in Canada.

You're making the assumption that wages have kept pace with inflation. They haven't.

Sorry, my mistake. You're right, I wouldn't hestitate to use it with friends whom I know know better either.
This attitude is exactly what people are talking about.
Great, now some enterprising /.-er is going to haxx0r their Apache...
Yeah, well I'd rather take a ride with Kennedy than Laura Bush.

That's the worst line of propoganda shit I've ever heard. What are you, a shill for the Bush Administration? No wonder you logged in AC.
I'm going to beta test it right now... in Fedora Core 4. And I'm gonna send an error report if it doesn't work, too.
Just how afraid are you of your child accidentally stumbling across a pixellated boob?
